[00:00:15] Welcome once again, and thank you for being here. I'm your host, Nic Ryan.

[00:00:22] Tonight's first encounter comes to us from Richard, and Richard's experience is called

[00:00:28] True Paranormal Activity Story with Videos. Richard's experience contains details involving

[00:00:36] self-harm and other aspects that are unsuitable for younger listeners, and discretion is advised.

[00:00:43] Richard says,

[00:00:45] Greetings. I have experienced years of paranormal activity that only ended after three exorcisms

[00:00:51] of my home. I'm not sure how much detail you're looking for in the initial email, but in 2017,

[00:00:58] I was a foster parent. My very first placement was a 13-year-old girl, who I will call Tina.

[00:01:05] Tina claimed that when she was 6 years old, she thought that her father was dead, even though he

[00:01:10] wasn't. And she would contact what she referred to as the spirit realm and ask if anyone was there,

[00:01:16] in the hopes of finding her father. Night after night, she would ask if anyone was there, and then

[00:01:22] one day a voice told her that it was here. The voice told her that its name was Malable,

[00:01:29] and that it would always protect her. Tina claimed that from that day forward, whenever she looked into

[00:01:35] a mirror, she would see a demonic-looking shadow woman out of the corner of her eye. This shadow

[00:01:40] woman had sharp teeth and black, hollow eyes. She claimed that if she stared into the mirror for too

[00:01:46] long, Malable would take control of her and make her do things. None of this was told to any of us,

[00:01:53] of course. While she was in my home, Tina displayed something akin to disassociative identity disorder,

[00:02:01] in which she had different handwriting, different manner of speech, or even a slightly different

[00:02:06] voice, as well as what I assumed was schizophrenia. We had one other foster daughter who I will call

[00:02:13] Jessie. Jessie was terrified of Tina, and used to beg to sleep on the floor of our room just to get

[00:02:19] away from her. We found out years later that Tina was talking to something in the mirror,

[00:02:24] and would stand in front of the mirror for hours at a time at night, and she would make weird noises.

[00:02:30] We knew none of this at the time, though. One day, Tina got Jessie so upset that she cut herself

[00:02:37] with a razor, her arms and her legs. When Tina saw Jessie bleeding, she went into a trance-like state,

[00:02:44] staring at the mirrored closet, and banging her head against the wall. That night, she asked us to

[00:02:50] cover up all the windows, but we didn't know why. Jessie left our home shortly afterwards,

[00:02:56] and Tina became worse. She would laugh maniacally at random, she would talk to herself, and she did

[00:03:03] terrible things to my cat. And then, on Thanksgiving of 2017, she had a complete mental breakdown.

[00:03:11] The night before Thanksgiving, I had asked her to help me with the dishes. And she told me,

[00:03:16] why are you even asking me if you're going to just force me anyways? I was confused as I had never done

[00:03:22] this. And then, she started fake hiccuping, and I said, to ease the tension, that her hiccups were

[00:03:28] fake as a three dollar bill. Tina then slammed the refrigerator shut and glared at me with hatred,

[00:03:34] her hand still gripping the handle. She then said,

[00:03:37] don't you ever call me a liar. Now, I don't remember what I said after that, or if I said

[00:03:44] anything at all. But she then said in a robot-like voice, do you need me for anything else? Confused,

[00:03:50] I said no. And then she added, can I go to my room? And I told her yes. For anyone that's old

[00:03:58] enough to remember the 80s sitcom, Small Wonder, she sounded almost exactly like Vicky, the robot.

[00:04:04] A few minutes later, she began throwing everything around in her room and flinging her arms back and

[00:04:10] forth while doing what sounded like a cross between screaming and growling. It was so loud and destructive

[00:04:16] that I put my phone in the front pocket and propped it up on a folded pocket square so the camera could

[00:04:22] see out, and I started recording. I was trying to use it like a body cam to show her social worker

[00:04:27] why she needed to be removed from my home. Tina somehow pushed me, a 6'230 pound man,

[00:04:35] so hard that I flew back 4-6 feet, and I almost knocked over a heavy vase. She began to scream and

[00:04:42] cry, and genuinely seemed like she didn't know where she was. I explained to her that we were

[00:04:47] going to get her some help, but then she told me that she pushed me because I tried to hug her.

[00:04:52] I then protested, and she began to make up stories, so I showed her the video of her acting out. And

[00:04:59] while she was standing next to me, she looked down at the floor with her mouth wide open as if she was

[00:05:03] going to scream, and then she grabbed her ears. Her eyes were wide, and her whole body began shaking,

[00:05:10] and she started drooling on the floor. We canceled Thanksgiving dinner, as DCFS offices were all closed,

[00:05:17] and her social worker was not responding to calls or even emails. Tina started going into trance-like

[00:05:25] states, and after dinner, she started watching demonic summoning videos on YouTube. She watched

[00:05:31] something about something called the Midnight Man and how to summon him, summoning some sort of party

[00:05:37] ghosts, how to perform rituals, etc. At about 7pm that night, she was sitting on the stairs leading to my

[00:05:45] bedroom, and she asked me what I would do if she was laying upside down on the stairs, and covered in

[00:05:51] blood. I then asked her if she was planning on hurting us, and she said, covered in blood, with a

[00:05:58] knife in my hands. Now, this girl had done so many terrifying things that, at night, I would barricade

[00:06:05] the entire entryway to my upstairs loft bedroom so that I would hear her coming when she came to kill me.

[00:06:10] She would say things like, you haven't even seen half of my rage. I told her that I wasn't afraid of a

[00:06:17] 13-year-old little girl, and she gave me a big smile, and said, maybe not while you're awake. When I

[00:06:24] asked her what she meant, she said in a weird and sultry type of voice that sounded like a grown woman,

[00:06:30] everybody's gotta sleep sometime. And she then started laughing. We had been told by her social

[00:06:37] worker to remove all doors in her room and watch her at all times, and to lock up all knives and

[00:06:43] sharp objects. When I refused to remove the doors and watch her, the social worker became angry with me

[00:06:49] until I told her that I lived in a live-work loft, and that I could not have my clients walk past a

[00:06:55] bedroom when they came inside. Tina's bedroom was right next to the front door. After submitting all of

[00:07:02] my evidence, they finally agreed to send a PMRT, Psychiatric Medical Response Team, consisting of

[00:07:09] four people, to my home. I called her crisis line at Vista Del Mar, and I told her everything. The

[00:07:16] therapist on the phone told me that she had seen this before, and that it was a, quote,

[00:07:21] attack by the enemy, and she began praying with me over the phone. The four people came out about 90

[00:07:28] minutes later, and they interviewed Tina. Tina told them how she had become possessed by this

[00:07:33] malebol creature, and she told them openly about how she had visions of her mother's throat being

[00:07:39] ripped open by malebol's teeth, and how the arterial spray would look. She told them about her plans to

[00:07:46] murder her family, which she delayed because she wanted to grow up and get a good job, and murdering her

[00:07:52] family would hamper those plans. She said that she also wanted to murder me. She went on and on,

[00:07:59] explaining with calm detail about how she once broke every single one of her family's belongings

[00:08:04] out of revenge. After about 45 minutes of this, the PMRT team went outside to talk amongst themselves.

[00:08:12] We waited 15, 20, and 30 minutes, and then after about 40 minutes, I went outside to look for them.

[00:08:20] They were right in front of my door with a panicked, genuinely frightened look on their faces.

[00:08:25] I asked them if they were taking her, and the woman said no. I started panicking,

[00:08:31] and then one of the men explained that it was not safe for them to ride in a car with her,

[00:08:35] or even be in the same home with her. They told me that they had called for an ambulance,

[00:08:39] and that they would need to strap her to the gurney, and take her away, before she harmed someone else.

[00:08:45] I literally begged them and convinced them to let us all walk with her through the courtyard.

[00:08:50] I lived in a weird complex where my loft was very far from the front gate,

[00:08:54] and everyone would see us on the way out. I frankly didn't want the controversy or the gossip.

[00:09:00] The ambulance was parked on the street, and once we arrived, they tied her down to a gurney with

[00:09:06] straps, and they put something over her face that kind of looked like Hannibal Lecter.

[00:09:11] That was the last time I ever saw her.

[00:09:15] That night, I was planning on throwing away everything from her room,

[00:09:19] as I decided that my fostering days were over after being traumatized by her.

[00:09:23] But I couldn't turn on any of the lights. The ceiling light, her lamp, and the LED strips

[00:09:28] that I had put up would not turn on. I assumed it was a breaker, and I decided to wait until morning.

[00:09:34] When I came down the next morning, all of the lights in her room were now on. I didn't think much of it,

[00:09:41] though, and I decided to turn her room into a storage room. I put in these two big external

[00:09:47] IKEA closets. One of them slid open, and one had doors like a cabinet. I started putting light stands

[00:09:54] and camera equipment inside, as I'm a photographer, and my kitten started poking her nose in there.

[00:09:59] I was worried that something would fall on her, so I closed both doors and started taking stuff out

[00:10:05] of camera bags and boxes. My head was turned for no more than 40 seconds, and when I turned back

[00:10:11] around, all of the doors were now standing wide open. That night, I heard something running up and

[00:10:18] down the stairs, and banging in the little storage closet under the stairs. It was exactly like Harry

[00:10:24] Potter's little closet. I then started hearing dishes and glasses rattle and move, and the lights

[00:10:30] in her room would turn on and off. I could feel something was there with me, and so after a couple

[00:10:36] of weeks, I decided to move into the unit right next to mine, which was larger. Everything was okay

[00:10:43] for about five days, until one night. I was watching the movie A Quiet Place with my ex on my projector.

[00:10:49] There was a projector with a fire stick and a home theater speaker. The projector and

[00:10:54] the speaker had separate power buttons, and the Amazon fire stick was powered by the projector's

[00:10:59] USB port. I turned them both off. About 20 minutes after I fell asleep, I was woken up to the sound of

[00:11:07] really loud music. When I went upstairs, the projector was off, but somehow the speaker had

[00:11:13] turned itself on and went up to max volume, and somehow the movie's end credit started playing from

[00:11:19] the fire stick with the projector off. Which is impossible. From that day forward, we started

[00:11:25] hearing voices talking to both of us, and I started seeing things move out of the corner of my eye.

[00:11:31] We even smelled rotten meat one night, and then, when I had friends over, one of them who later became

[00:11:37] my current wife, a bottle of sriracha moved by itself, and they encouraged me to download the footage

[00:11:43] of this happening onto my phone. We began experiencing paranormal activity every single day,

[00:11:50] until a priest came over to perform what he referred to as a minor exorcism of our home.

[00:11:55] I showed him the videos, and we all told him what was going on, and although he said that he believed

[00:12:00] in demons, he said that he had never seen anything like this before in his life. The paranormal activity

[00:12:08] stopped a few weeks later, but then it started back up again. Things would get thrown across the room,

[00:12:14] doors would violently slam, and the lights would go crazy. We finally picked up and moved to a

[00:12:20] different part of Los Angeles, but the activity followed us again. On one occasion, I put a glass

[00:12:27] in the sink, and the glass exploded, as if someone put a hand grenade in it. Another time, all the cabinets

[00:12:33] slammed shot. At night, we could feel and hear our bed getting kicked, and it would shake back and forth,

[00:12:39] like an earthquake. I remember this one time I was sitting at my desk, which sadly wasn't on camera,

[00:12:45] as there wasn't enough motion to trigger the cameras to start recording, and a half-full can of Diet Coke

[00:12:51] slid from one end of my desk to the other. I would wake up with bite marks all over my arms and legs as

[00:12:57] well. There would be knocks on the walls and doors, the toilet lid would slam shut, lights would turn on

[00:13:04] and off, and on one night, my son even told me that he felt something get in bed with him. After that,

[00:13:11] he refused to sleep in his bed for many days. This had been going on every day for about two years,

[00:13:17] and then one day my son runs up to me and says that a voice spoke in his ear. I asked him what the

[00:13:23] voice said, and he made a sound like a big exhale of breath. He later told me that he could feel it

[00:13:30] as well. I checked the security camera footage, and sure enough, you could hear it, plain as day.

[00:13:36] I ran outside with my son, and I called my wife, and I told her to come home so that we could go and

[00:13:42] find a Catholic church and get some holy water. We found one that was open, explained the situation,

[00:13:48] and we got the holy water. Before I left, I started playing Christian music in the living room.

[00:13:54] Previously, this was the only thing that would reduce the paranormal activity. However, when we

[00:13:59] got back and I began splashing the holy water and ordering the spirit to leave, the music changed all

[00:14:04] by itself to the song Monster by Seether, which is a song about demonic possession.

[00:14:11] We called another church, and this was the third time that we had a priest come to our home,

[00:14:16] and the archdiocese sent out a priest with the blessing of the local bishop, who specialized in

[00:14:21] exorcisms. They were an actual exorcist. I tried showing him all of my evidence, and he calmly

[00:14:28] declined. I thought that he thought that I was lying, so I got a little upset, and I asked him why he

[00:14:33] was so calm about this. He told me that what was in my home is, quote, like a person. It's conscious

[00:14:40] and aware, and it's demonic and evil. My jaw fell open. He explained that as people have stopped

[00:14:48] believing in God and stopped going to church, that they were seeing a lot more of this. A lot more,

[00:14:54] he emphasized. I asked him for more details, and he told me that as soon as he left my home,

[00:15:00] he had two others to go to that same day. Since then, the paranormal activity left and never came

[00:15:08] back, but it's left me shaken at how obvious it was. I have only had one bit of paranormal activity

[00:15:14] since the last exorcism. I was handing a light bulb to one of my clients when it weirdly lit up in my

[00:15:21] hand. Aside from that, nothing else has happened. For anyone that's interested in seeing the videos

[00:15:29] that Richard mentioned, there is a link to it in the show notes.

[00:16:10] and I'll be right back after these brief messages. Our next experience comes to us from Dana,

[00:16:20] and Dana's story is called Great Grandpa's Ghost. Dana's experience involves suicide,

[00:16:28] and may be too graphic for some listeners. Dana says,

[00:16:33] Hey Nick, I love listening to your show. I just discovered it recently. I was raised in Falls City,

[00:16:39] Oregon, in a big old haunted house. I've also lived here in Falls City with my husband and my three

[00:16:45] children for 35 years. My story happened when I was about seven years old at my grandparents' farmhouse

[00:16:51] near Malala, Oregon, in 1978. My grandpa passed away, and my grandma had decided to sell the farm and move

[00:16:59] into a trailer court in a nearby town. The house and the farm had been in my grandma's family for a

[00:17:05] century by this time. It was hard to say goodbye to a home that held so many memories. At one point,

[00:17:13] I had seen a shirt that had belonged to one of my older cousins that I really wanted to have,

[00:17:17] and I asked about it to my grandma. She told me that it was upstairs in the attic,

[00:17:21] and if I wanted it, to go and get it. Well, the attic had always been a place in the house that I was

[00:17:26] afraid of for some reason, and I never wanted to be up there alone. So, putting my fear aside,

[00:17:32] I began my trek. At the base of the stairs, there was a door that led to the living room,

[00:17:38] and the door that led to my grandparents' bedroom. It is hard to explain the various feelings that I had

[00:17:43] in each of those rooms in the house. At the top of the stairs to the right was a bedroom that my mom

[00:17:48] called her great-aunt Ninie's room. She had lived in the house her whole life until she died.

[00:17:53] She never married, and she was very loved. Now, although I never met Aunt Ninie,

[00:17:59] I always felt a feeling of warmth and love that enveloped me, and it was a feeling like I was

[00:18:04] walking back in time whenever I entered that room. Next, if you had turned left, there was a little

[00:18:10] half-sized door for the attic, which was on the same level as the other rooms. Directly across from

[00:18:16] there is a tiny bedroom that was my mom's great-uncle Carl's bedroom. I loved that room as a little

[00:18:21] girl. If I was brave enough to go upstairs, that is where I ran to. It just felt so cozy,

[00:18:28] like I was being wrapped in a warm hug. The last bedroom at the end of the hall was a nice bright

[00:18:33] room. However, it always felt so cold to me, and I didn't like it. So, on this day, I braved the attic.

[00:18:42] I opened the door, and I walked in. There was a string to pull the hanging light, which was a bit

[00:18:47] tall for me, and I had to jump to reach it, and turn it on. As I landed back on the floor,

[00:18:52] I turned, as my eyes were drawn down the long narrow room to the end, where it opened up to a

[00:18:58] small room with one window in it. That is when I saw him. There was a see-through man who had on

[00:19:06] overalls, and looked over at me as he got up from a chair, and then looked out the window. He had a face

[00:19:13] that was full of such sadness. I was paralyzed with fear. When I was finally able to move,

[00:19:19] I ran out and down the stairs, the shirt long forgotten. I never mentioned what I had seen

[00:19:26] to anyone. Flash forward to many years later, I was about 12 years old. I had went with my grandma

[00:19:32] to a baby shower for a friend of hers. It was held at a home near the old family farm.

[00:19:37] My grandma was talking to a lady there who was trying to explain to her own daughter where my

[00:19:42] grandmother had once lived. To this day, it upsets me to think of this woman's calloused words.

[00:19:48] She said,

[00:19:49] Oh, you know the house, the one where the man committed suicide.

[00:19:53] I watched as all the color washed out of my grandma's face, and we left soon after.

[00:19:58] I asked my mom about it later on the way home from grandma's, and she told me the story.

[00:20:05] My great-grandma died after suffering from MS for many years.

[00:20:09] My great-grandpa remarried a younger woman. At some point, my grandma and her siblings started

[00:20:15] receiving hate mail with words and letters cut from newspapers and magazines. Then, when they would

[00:20:21] come to visit him, great-grandpa would always tell them to not eat the soup, and that she was poisoning

[00:20:27] it. They thought that he was getting dementia, and was not always making sense. But then, one day,

[00:20:33] he was found in the middle of a field with his throat slit. He was alive, and his wife rode in

[00:20:39] the back of the ambulance with him. However, he was dead when they arrived. It was ruled a suicide.

[00:20:46] He was found alone with a knife that no one in the family recognized. His footsteps were so far apart

[00:20:52] that it appeared that he had gone mad, or that he had been running for his life. Years later,

[00:20:58] my mother ran into this woman's daughter. She said that her mother had committed suicide,

[00:21:03] and stating,

[00:21:04] My mother could not live with her sins any longer. Apparently, the woman had been married several

[00:21:10] times before, and all of her husbands had died under mysterious circumstances. She mistakenly thought

[00:21:17] that great-grandpa was wealthy, having owned a large piece of land and a farm. However, she didn't get

[00:21:23] any of it, as far as I know. The family always suspected her of sending them the mysterious letters,

[00:21:30] and today, there would have been an autopsy with forensic testing done to see if he had been poisoned,

[00:21:36] and if the knife had another's fingerprints on it. However, back then, 75 years ago, there was none of

[00:21:43] that available. All I do know is that when my mother showed me his picture, I knew that it was the man I

[00:21:49] saw in the attic. That small, unfinished room in the attic had been his childhood bedroom. Maybe he

[00:21:56] was sad because his home was being sold to strangers. I don't know. If this happened to me

[00:22:01] today, I would stick around and try to communicate with him. I would love the chance to go back there.

[00:22:08] Since I've been grown, I've heard many family members' experiences on the farm. My grandma talked

[00:22:13] about how when she was packing up the old china, it jumped off the table and broke. It was like

[00:22:19] someone knocked it off as she reached for it. She said that it was probably Aunt Ninie, who was

[00:22:24] probably mad at her, for selling the place. Other family members said that the Christmas after Aunt

[00:22:30] Ninie died, they felt that her spirit greeted them at the door and was with them all day. None of them

[00:22:36] spoke it out loud until many years later, and they discovered that each had had the very same experience.

[00:22:42] I have had many encounters with spirits and some dark entities since my childhood. I also grew up in a

[00:22:49] big, 100-year-old, and yes, haunted house. I do believe I have a gift, and many of my family members

[00:22:57] have it as well. Thank you for providing this platform to share our stories, and let me know

[00:23:03] if you would like to hear more. Sincerely, Dana. I hope you enjoyed tonight's episode,

[00:23:15] and before I leave you, I'd like to thank Richard and Dana for coming forward with their experiences.

[00:23:20] And if you'd like to share your paranormal encounter or learn more about supporting the show,
