[00:00:00] In tonight's episode, I'll be talking about a house in Kentucky that has its share of paranormal activity. An odd shadow that resembles the Hat Man, as well as unsettling whispers which emanate from unseen entities. These experiences and more, all coming up on tonight's edition of Paranormal Mysteries.

[00:00:49] Thank you all for joining me and welcome. I'm your host, Nic Ryan. Before I start tonight's show, as always, I'd like to recognize all of my amazing listeners from every corner of the world. I greatly appreciate your continued support.

[00:01:06] And now, let's begin with our first experience of the night, which comes to us from Bifendor. And Bifendor's experience is called Kentucky Ghost House. Bifendor says, I would like to start by saying that we moved into my childhood home in the early 90s.

[00:01:25] It was a four-story home and I have no idea when it was built, however it did have several previous owners. I spent my entire childhood and early adulthood living there. When I was a child I would hear things such as footsteps, random knocking, doors opening

[00:01:42] and shutting, and faint voices. As a child, I didn't think anything of it until I was in high school. We had a completely finished attic and I decided to turn that into my own bedroom.

[00:01:55] I started noticing that in the middle of the night, I would hear running down below in my living room and in my kitchen. I would wake up and hear it and think that someone was downstairs running around at 3 AM.

[00:02:08] I would even run downstairs to my parents' bedroom and ask them why they kept walking around in the kitchen in the middle of the night. To my surprise though, they always told me that everyone was asleep and that nobody was walking around downstairs.

[00:02:22] When I was old enough to get a cell phone, I would even call their number in the middle of the night and tell them to stop running around on the steps and in the kitchen because it was very loud and disturbing.

[00:02:33] My parents would constantly tell me that there was no one walking around, so I just let it go. There were a few instances in my childhood where me and my twin sister would see a shadowy-like figure in our foyer.

[00:02:46] My grandmother had even seen it once and at the time, we thought that it was a home intruder. However, after screaming that someone was in the house, my dad checked the home and there was no one there.

[00:02:58] My older sister who was an adult at the time had come home in the middle of the day and saw a child standing at the top of our stairs and thought that we had a friend over.

[00:03:08] But when she realized that no one else was home, she was frightened and ran out of the house. We also had a lot of nights where our doorbell would ring constantly. We would check the door and no one would be there.

[00:03:21] We lived out in the country, so we had no neighbors. Years later I had visited home one weekend with my college boyfriend and I had not told him anything about my experiences in my childhood home for fear that he would not want to visit.

[00:03:36] That night we slept in my room in the attic and in the middle of the night I woke up to see him sitting straight up in the bed and staring off, looking at the end of the bedroom.

[00:03:46] When I asked him what was going on, he kept telling me that someone was in my room and that it was a black shadowy figure moving from one side of the room to the other and that it was floating across the floor.

[00:04:00] He was super spooked and even my small dog was on the bed barking at what appeared to be nothing. I assured him that everything was okay and we both got up, turned the light on and went downstairs.

[00:04:13] He wanted to turn all the lights on in the house and the next day we left. I later explained to him about my childhood experiences and he did not want to return to my home unless more people were there to witness what he had seen.

[00:04:29] When my niece would come over, she was three or four years old at the time and she would often draw pictures of what appeared to be floating blobs over the floor and when I asked

[00:04:38] about them, she would tell me that those were monsters that would float across the floor in the attic. My niece never wanted to go up there. She would crawl and get upset and even hysterical.

[00:04:50] She would often try to avoid the door because she didn't like what was up there. There was even another time when my niece was inside my closet and it sounded like she was talking to someone. I pulled back the closet door and said, What are you doing?

[00:05:04] And she replied, I'm playing with my friends. I said, Okay, who are your friends? And she then said that it was a little girl and a little boy that she was playing with, but that they weren't really there. They were just make-believe friends.

[00:05:19] I later discussed this with her mom and her mom told me that she had never talked to any make-believe friends other than in the house. Fast forward to after my boyfriend had that scary experience in the house, we later went

[00:05:33] back to college and he told a lot of his friends about what had happened. They got the bright idea to come back to my parents' home with a Ouija board against my wishes and see if anything would happen.

[00:05:44] We set up the Ouija board in my bedroom and we were shocked when it actually started moving. I asked, Who are you? And it responded with, Here. Then we asked, Are you children? And it responded with, Yes. Then we asked, How did you die?

[00:06:02] And one said that they had drowned. We then asked if the dog could see them. And it responded with, Yes. It tries to bite us. This is actually true because our dog would randomly try to nip at the air and growl.

[00:06:17] It also said that it would randomly try to move our keys in an attempt to play with us. They also stated that they run through the house late at night. We then freaked out because I had actually marked on my boyfriend's pants with a permanent

[00:06:32] marker and the Ouija board then spelled out, Ha ha, pants. That freaked us out enough that we stopped playing with the Ouija board and we took it out of the house. That was the only time we attempted to make contact with anything through a Ouija board

[00:06:48] And there have been no formal investigations or attempts to debunk any activity in the home. In 2017, my parents sold my childhood home and the people who bought it renovated it and resold it. In 2019, I received a phone call from a friend who said that her girlfriend had purchased

[00:07:07] the home with her family and she had some questions about the home. She asked if she could call me and speak over the phone because she didn't want to send anything over a text message. This was because she didn't want to sound crazy.

[00:07:22] So I called her and asked her what was up and she said that her girlfriend had bought my childhood home. There were some spooky things going on and she wanted to know if we had ever experienced anything in the home.

[00:07:33] I asked her what kinds of things they were experiencing and she said the following. Late at night, we would hear the doors softly closing and then opening. We would hear running through the house as if someone was running down the three flights

[00:07:47] of stairs in through the kitchen and living room. They would also have a sense or feeling that someone was watching them. They also had several experiences where the water faucets and showers, particularly in the master bedroom, would turn on by themselves.

[00:08:04] I advised her that I had spent 25 years of my life there and yes, there were similar experiences. They were both in shock, however it actually gave me a sense of relief to know that someone

[00:08:16] that I did not even know had been experiencing things that I had my entire childhood. I knew that I was not just seeing or hearing things or that my imagination was playing tricks on me.

[00:08:27] Someone I didn't even know and had no idea about my experiences was now experiencing similar activity. I have not been back to my childhood home since the new owners have taken possession of it, however I do wonder if there is still activity in the home or not.

[00:08:45] I don't know why some people are more susceptible or sensitive to seeing or hearing those kinds of paranormal activity. Some say it's because I'm a twin, but I don't think that's the case.

[00:08:56] I do have very vivid dreams that seem like they are real, or I see past loved ones and carry on conversations in real time. When I first started dating my boyfriend, I would stay the night at his house and there

[00:09:09] were a few times when I would wake up in the middle of the night and freak out because it would look like someone was standing in the doorway. It looked like a woman in all black with long black hair.

[00:09:21] I couldn't see her face, but it was enough to startle me. When I spoke with my boyfriend's mother about it, she stated that when her mother and father lived there, that her mother would often say that she would see an old witch in the hallway.

[00:09:35] However, the grandmother had Alzheimer's, so they didn't think much of it. Both of his grandparents have passed away and now we live in their home, so whenever I mention someone looking like a witch in the hallway in the middle of the night, you

[00:09:48] can imagine how surprised my boyfriend and his mother were, because I had not been told that story. I think what is most interesting is that when I moved into my boyfriend's house last January,

[00:10:00] I also started seeing glimpses of things around the house, as well as having a sense of activity present. At first I started seeing glimpses of what appeared to be an older grandfather-like figure, but it would only last a second and then it would be gone.

[00:10:16] This would startle me at first. Early mornings after my boyfriend would go to work, I would be laying in bed with my eyes closed and I would have a feeling that someone was standing in the doorway staring at me or that someone was in the room.

[00:10:30] I would also hear one footstep or so and it was enough to startle me. This has been happening for quite some time now. I'm not really sure what to do about it. My boyfriend is a skeptic and he doesn't believe in ghosts or paranormal activity.

[00:10:43] However, he doesn't shy away from the conversation and he encourages me to investigate it. Another thing that I thought was very interesting is that after his grandparents died and he moved into the house, he changed everything about the house.

[00:10:58] He changed the location of a lot of things including the furniture to make it seem like a different home. After I moved into the home, he came home one day to see that I had rearranged all the furniture and the kitchen appliances to my liking.

[00:11:12] What I didn't know was that I had rearranged everything back exactly how his grandmother had had it. He said that it was super weird that I had placed everything back in the same position that it was when they were alive.

[00:11:25] The most recent thing that I thought was interesting is that I had brought home some thrift store goodies to hang in the home. When I showed him these kitchen towels that I wanted to hang as decorations in the kitchen, his mouth dropped to the floor.

[00:11:38] I asked him what the problem was and he said that his grandmother had those exact same kitchen towels and that they had thrown them in the garbage when he had moved into the house and redecorated everything.

[00:11:49] They were a 1982 vintage print and here I was standing in the kitchen telling him that I wanted to hang them, not knowing that his grandmother had the exact same ones in her kitchen. What are the odds? His grandmother and I also shared the same birthday. Coincidence?

[00:12:07] I don't know, but it sure is interesting. Biffendor Before I continue with our next experience, remember that you can share your experience with me through email or voice message at paranormalmysteriespodcast.com or of course at sharemyevp.com.

[00:13:15] Keisha says... Hi Nick. First, I want to say that I love your podcast. I've been listening for about a year now and I'm completely caught up. Sometimes while waiting for a new episode, I'll go back and listen to some of my favorite ones you've already posted.

[00:13:30] I've only had a few experiences and I've decided to share them with you and the other listeners. In 2015, my daughters were five and two, and I was pregnant with my youngest daughter. While putting dishes in my dishwasher and the girls were taking a nap, I heard a woman

[00:13:48] extremely close to my left ear say my name loudly. That evening, I was talking with my aunt and I told her about the experience. And she told me to never answer when that happens, because it creates a doorway for unwanted entities.

[00:14:05] My second experience was in 2015, when my brother passed away in a terrible car accident. He was only 23. After his funeral, my daughters and I got back home, and after settling in, I decided to go ahead and get ready for bed.

[00:14:21] At the time, I had a fan in my room, and while laying there in the dark in complete silence other than the fan, I could hear my brother talking. I couldn't make out what he was saying, but I know that it was him without a shadow of

[00:14:34] a doubt. I didn't know this until recently, but my mom told me that when he was 16 or 17, he told her that he knew how he would pass away. He said,

[00:14:44] Mom, I need to tell you this, and don't get freaked out, but I know how I'm going to die. It's going to be in a car accident, in a really fast car. He passed away in a 1992 Dodge Viper.

[00:15:00] Well, for now that's all the experiences I've had, other than seeing shadow people out of the corner of my eye. I hope my experiences make it onto your podcast. I love your work, and I look forward to hearing many more. Thank you. Keisha

[00:15:20] Our next experience comes to us from Anonymous, and Anonymous' story is called Family Bonding Anonymous says, The paranormal has always been fascinating to many, but I think like most things it has lost the respect that it deserves due to the growing popularity that it has gained.

[00:15:41] You see, we were brought up with a vast amount of respect for the quote-unquote don't ask. What I mean by that is, we really didn't question what we experienced, but were never in doubt of the things that go bump in the night, or in the day.

[00:15:56] A very healthy respect was always given. I grew up in central Mississippi, which sounds busier than it actually was, with very little to do. One of the things we did enjoy was to bring the simple black and white TV outside onto

[00:16:10] the porch, and tune the old rabbit ears to any station we could get to come in. Most of the time there wasn't much on, but it was a warm tradition that didn't cost anything, and was kind of a bonding activity for our very large family of nine.

[00:16:25] My mom was a very loving but stern woman, who never shied away from saying how she felt about anything, except the promotion of the paranormal. What she would share, she did in a strange way, by telling stories of her life, as if in third person.

[00:16:41] When asked why she did this, she would always remind us to give the devil his due, and to never hunt the haint, which was their term for ghost. Speaking in third person allowed her and those before her to communicate about these

[00:16:57] things without inviting activity, being careful to avoid the word I or We. There were several times when I found this to be a sound practice to learn, and I have tried implementing this tactic far into my adult life.

[00:17:13] I remember sitting on the high porch of our shotgun home, looking into the fields of cotton across the dirt road. I could see something, or someone, exit one of the rows that turned onto the dirt road.

[00:17:25] The figure was that of an older man, dressed in a weathered white oversized shirt that hung loosely around his shoulders, and dark gray baggy pants secured by a rope for a belt. As I saw him and was about to acknowledge his presence, my mom placed her finger to

[00:17:41] her lips as if to shush me. She then said in her special way that he was just curious about the TV. I was then told to get a mason jar of well water, which she placed six pennies in, and then placed on the corner of the porch.

[00:17:57] I found out later that this was a way to ward off the spirit, and keep it away from the home. The jar must remain there untouched until only the pennies remained. Those pennies were then poured untouched into a brown paper bag, and buried on the property.

[00:18:13] I later found out that we had to move from that property because of the high activity which ramped up even more day to day. When I asked her why we had to move, she simply said, Sometimes those you see start to see you back.

[00:18:29] I will never seek out, conjure, or make light of the paranormal. I'm sorry it's been so long since I last shared, but as I have implied, I think it's a good idea to limit my submergence with a little space in between, as a precaution.

[00:18:45] By the way, I still have not missed an episode. Our next experience of the night also comes from a person that wants to remain anonymous, and their experience is called, Strange Shadow and Impossible Noises Anonymous says,

[00:19:05] I've never experienced a major instance, but I've had a couple that built up over the course of my life. For some background, I am currently an adult, but at the time I lived with my parents and one sibling, whom I shared a room with.

[00:19:19] We lived in an apartment on the second floor of a building, which was surrounded by tall trees, although there were none by my window. All the trees were a ways off, by 40 feet or so. The first instance I can think of happened when I was 7.

[00:19:34] I didn't share a room with my sibling yet, but I knew that this wasn't them. It was late at night, maybe 10.30 or so, and I couldn't sleep. I was staring into the hallway, which had a wall parallel to my doorway with a small nightlight

[00:19:50] so that I could vaguely see the hallway. I blinked, and all of a sudden a strange shadow appeared in the hallway outside my room. The edges of this shadow were strangely sharp, not fuzzy or blurred at all like you'd expect.

[00:20:04] It had very broad, angular shoulders, and almost looked as if it was wearing a trenchcoat. It had a large, brimmed hat and an extremely pronounced jawline. It almost looked like a detective in an old cartoon. I stared at it for a few seconds and then blinked.

[00:20:21] However, as soon as I blinked, it disappeared. The second half of this story occurs when I was a young teen. There was a lot of small things that happened during those years. Lights kept blinking out above me.

[00:20:34] I heard strange breathing while on the landline calls with my friends, and I heard whispers late at night. Once I was sitting underneath my window on a beanbag reading a book, and I heard three sharp raps on the window.

[00:20:47] Again, this was a second floor apartment, and all the trees were far away from the window. However, the worst happened when I was again under that same window and reading. Since the first incident, I changed my beanbag under the window so it faced it with my back

[00:21:03] to the room. I now shared a room with my sibling, and their bed was directly behind me. We've shared a room for so long that I've memorized the sound they make when they're getting off their bed. It's a very distinctive rustle.

[00:21:17] Again, I was sitting in the beanbag chair, and lost in a book, when I began to hear a rustling noise behind me. Convinced that my sibling had entered the room when I was reading, I turned to look at them as they were exiting the room.

[00:21:30] But no one was there. They were actually in the kitchen at this time, and incapable of making the noise. Nothing had shifted on the bed either. To this day, I still don't know what it was that made that noise, but I suspect the rapping

[00:21:45] on the window and the rustling was made by the same entity. Keep doing what you do. Anonymous As we come to the end of tonight's episode, I'd like to thank Biffendor, Keisha, and both of our anonymous listeners for sharing their experiences.

[00:22:08] And of course remember that if you have a story to share with me, you can find links to all of my contact information in the show notes. Until next time, thank you so much for listening, and please remember... Don't wait for the unknown to come to you.

[00:22:23] Get out there and find it.
