321: Phantom Funeral, Supernatural Visitations, Doppelgangers & A Man Made Of Lights

[00:00:00] Losing someone that we love is the most painful thing we can experience, but when they return from the great beyond to give us a message, the confirmation that they're still with us can be the greatest comfort of all.

[00:00:21] This phenomenon takes place in several of tonight's stories, as well as a couple of experiences involving haunted houses, a doppelganger, and a man made of lights. Thank you for joining me and welcome. I am your host, Nic Ryan.

[00:00:56] Before I start tonight's show, I'd like to recognize all of my amazing listeners. I appreciate each and every one of you for your continued support. This first experience comes to us from Adriana, and Adriana's experience is called The House in Melrose Park. Adriana says,

[00:01:18] Hello Nic, I hope you are well. I really enjoy your podcast. I listen to it every day. I think I've listened to almost all the tales more than once. I also have to add that I really enjoyed the citizen hearings. I highly recommend everyone to hear them.

[00:01:34] It just confirmed my belief in UFOs, but the confessions really blew my mind. I recently heard an episode talking about removing evil with an egg, and this is something I know about very well. Now here is a little bit about myself.

[00:01:51] I come from a long line of spiritualism in my family, from card readers, reading coconuts, removing evil with an egg, to Belito and Santeria. So seeing, hearing and feeling spirits is like second nature to me.

[00:02:06] In my family we can cleanse a place, but honestly we met our match in Melrose Park, Illinois. I've been trying to write a book on all the experiences my family has been through, so I have many stories.

[00:02:21] This is one of them that actually happened in the house in Melrose Park. This happened to my mother, and this is her story. I call it, The Funeral. My mother woke up late in the middle of the night around 1am in the morning to get a

[00:02:37] drink of water. As she descended down the L-shaped stairs from the second floor, she turned the corner in the stairs where she could now see the living room. What she saw terrified her beyond belief.

[00:02:51] Instead of the coffee table in the middle of the living room, she saw a coffin in its place. She couldn't believe her eyes. A funeral was taking place. She froze in fear at the top of the first landing of stairs.

[00:03:04] She heard the sounds of people in mourning and muttering. She saw a fragile old man laying in the coffin, and there were candles lit everywhere. She realized that what she was seeing was a residual energy of what happened many years ago. An echo.

[00:03:22] She decided to walk back up the stairs backwards, and at the same time, she began to pray. As soon as she reached the corner of the stairs, she turned and went back to her room. This next experience is called, Mobster Car.

[00:03:39] My mother is a medium, spiritualist, and psychic. This runs in my family. Living in Melrose Park, Illinois was a challenge for all of us. Like I said, I have many stories from this place, and here is another one of those stories

[00:03:54] that was told to me by my mother. My mother had the urge to look outside of her bedroom window. When she did, she saw a car that looked like it was from the 30s parked outside.

[00:04:06] She then realized that what she was seeing was a phantom car out there. It was black and had the suicide doors. It looked just like one of the cars that Al Capone would ride in.

[00:04:18] As my mother looked at the mobster car, all the hair on the back of her neck stood up. She then went to go and get my father to show him, and when they returned back to the window, the car was gone.

[00:04:30] Melrose Park was known for having brothels owned by the mobsters back in the 20s and 30s, so I'm sure that what my mother was seeing was residual energy. An echo from the past. I will send you more stories of my experiences.

[00:04:46] Thank you very much for telling my stories. Many blessings to you and all your listeners. Thank you so much. Adriana Our next experience comes to us from Nikki. And Nikki says, Hi Nick, I'm from Wisconsin. I have had paranormal activity around me since I can remember.

[00:05:10] Sometimes it can be scary, but other times not so much. The house that we live in is very haunted. We have seen shadow figures, heard voices, woke up with bruises all over our bodies. Heard footsteps, electronics turning on and off, doors opening and closing, and much more.

[00:05:30] I have two stories from my childhood at this house. When I was 16, one of our dogs was hit by a car, and unfortunately passed away. He would sleep in my room every night, and he would scratch at the door to be let in.

[00:05:44] He was the only dog that would do that. That night, I woke up to hear scratching at my bedroom door, so I would let him in. I went to open the door, but then I remembered that he was no longer with us.

[00:05:57] I believe that this was his way of saying goodbye. In my next story, my baby brother was taking a nap. He was 9 months old at the time, and he woke up screaming. My mom ran upstairs and found a handprint across his face.

[00:06:13] The only ones home was my mom and my brother. Now, my mom was downstairs doing dishes at the time, while my brother slept upstairs in his crib. She did take a picture, but it got lost over the years.

[00:06:28] We have had people come out to bless the house, but nothing seems to work. We also found out through some research of the property that people have died on the property due to drunk drivers.

[00:06:39] My parents' house is built on a T-intersection, so many people have blown through a stop sign and crashed on their property. Now, the county has put rumble strips in, and a flashing stop sign.

[00:06:52] All that trauma and a negative energy is what I believe is causing the paranormal activity to continue. I do believe that the hauntings are getting worse due to the weird circumstances that are happening. I will write in with more stories later.

Scott and Shanace says, Hey Nick, my wife and I enjoy listening to the Paranormal Mysteries podcast.

[00:07:33] We are both aware that there are things in this world that cannot be explained, and I would like to share with you two supernatural experiences that both my wife and I had. The first experience happened in early December of 2009. I was driving home on a snowy evening.

[00:07:50] The roads were very icy, and it was freezing. Suddenly I received a phone call that no one ever wants to get. One of my wife's aunts called to tell us that my mother-in-law had been in a horrible car accident and was in an ambulance heading to the hospital.

[00:08:06] But it didn't look good. I rushed home and pushed through the front door, and the look on my face must have said everything because my wife immediately knew that something was wrong. When I told her she was inconsolable, and I headed into our one-year-old twin's room

[00:08:22] to pack some warm belongings and diapers for the three-hour trek to Traverse City, Michigan. I remember packing the bags in the nursery and suddenly feeling the presence of my mother-in-law in the room with me.

[00:08:35] I cannot adequately explain it, but I knew without a doubt that she was there with me. My wife was so distraught that I don't think she could have received such a powerful supernatural visit because of the deep mourning that she was experiencing.

[00:08:49] But even before we received any phone calls to confirm my mother-in-law's passing, I felt her presence in that baby nursery. I very distinctly heard her expressing her deep love for her daughter, her grandchildren, and me, and that she was okay. Everything would be okay.

[00:09:08] I experienced a strange warmth in that brief but powerful message, and then she was gone. After I packed our van with blankets and some overnight clothes, we quickly piled into our vehicle and drove to the hospital three hours away.

[00:09:24] When we were about two hours away, we received another phone call from my wife's aunt telling us that my mother-in-law had not made it, and that she had died. I felt a chill run up my spine because I knew her spirit had visited us three hours away

[00:09:39] to let us know that she was okay, and for me to comfort her daughter, my wife. We just don't know what's on the other side of life, but the spiritual realm must be closer than we think.

[00:09:54] A few days later, I told my wife about my experience, thinking that she might think that I was crazy, but she cried and accepted the news, and it brought her great comfort in knowing that her mother was okay on the other side. This is our second experience.

[00:10:12] My wife's grandmother had just died of lung cancer a few months before my mother-in-law's sudden passing. My wife had been very close to her, and my wife had lived with her for a few years when she was a young girl.

[00:10:25] When my wife's grandmother passed away, it was very hard on my wife, and it was especially hard because our two twins had just been born, but she never got to meet her great-grandchildren. When the twins were about six months old, we had difficulty getting them to sleep,

[00:10:40] and sometimes we would put them in our bed so they would be near us and everyone could get some much-needed rest. One night, while everyone was asleep, my wife was awakened by what she can only describe

[00:10:51] as the voice of her deceased grandmother calling her name, and she indicated that she needed to check on the twins. My wife then suddenly rolled over and discovered our daughter's face buried in my back as I slept soundly.

[00:11:05] To this day, my wife is convinced that our young daughter's life was in danger, and that her grandmother was watching over us, and warned her to check on our little girl. She claims that she distinctly heard her grandmother's voice call her name, and instantly

[00:11:21] knew that something was wrong. We believe that the spiritual world is very real, and there are so many things that we don't know about the afterlife. Perhaps family members who have gone on before us still linger near us, guiding, guarding, and watching.

[00:13:02] Visits from My Deceased Mother and Aunt. Ashley says... Hey Nick, it's been a little while since I've shared a story, so I'd now like to share two that are closest to my heart. The first one involves my aunt.

[00:13:18] She passed away in a car accident at the age of 24. I was only 4 years old at the time, and unfortunately don't have too many memories of her, but I do have a couple in which I cherish.

[00:13:30] I've always been told by my family that I remind them of her. Very thoughtful of others, and a very warm and caring personality. When I was 23 or 24 years old, my husband and I were trying desperately to have a baby, but were never successful.

[00:13:46] I was very upset over this, and it was a very sensitive subject for me, and I was beginning to think I'd never have a baby. One day my husband and I went to a psychic festival, and I decided to get a reading done.

[00:14:00] I sat down with the medium, and our session began. Almost immediately she stated that there was a tall, dark-headed woman, and that she was young when she passed. I immediately knew that this was my aunt.

[00:14:14] She said a few random things, and then suddenly she said that she had something very important to tell me, and she wanted a promise that I would trust her words. I then agreed, and she proceeded.

[00:14:26] My aunt told me to stop worrying about having a baby, because it would in fact happen, but that right now just wasn't the time. She said in the meantime she would be the one caring for my baby on the other side, until

[00:14:38] it was time for him to come to me. She verified that I would have a son, and that once he was born, I would immediately recognize this as the baby she had been talking about, as soon as I looked at him.

[00:14:51] I finally got pregnant at the age of 27, and of course was over the moon. I always remembered what my aunt said, and was curious if what she said would actually happen. At 16 weeks pregnant, it was confirmed that I was having a boy, which is what my aunt stated.

[00:15:08] Then the day he was born, they placed him in my arms, and as soon as I looked at him, I burst into tears, because I saw exactly what my aunt had been talking about.

[00:15:18] You see, my aunt was the only one in our family that had a dimple in her chin. When I looked at my precious newborn baby, my eyes immediately went to the dimple in his chin.

[00:15:30] This was my sign that this was the baby my aunt had been referring to. Some call it coincidence, but I know for a fact, this was my sign. My next story involves my mom. She and I were very, very close.

[00:15:46] She passed away very unexpectedly at the age of 52, and it almost destroyed me. How could I live without my best friend? It still hurts today, almost 13 years later. A few months after she passed, I had a dream about her. But this was no dream.

[00:16:05] I know beyond a shadow of a doubt it was a visit from her. In my dream slash visit, I was driving down the road in my truck. All of a sudden the windows rolled down on their own, and the cold air hit me in the face.

[00:16:18] I could physically feel the coldness. I distinctly said out loud, Mom, stop doing that. It's cold in here now. That's when I heard her distinctive laugh, and I looked next to me, and there she was. Oh my, she was absolutely gorgeous.

[00:16:34] She was glowing, but it wasn't an outward glow. The glow was coming from inside of her. She looked like she did in her early thirties, which is the look I loved best on her. She was just breathtaking, and so, so happy.

[00:16:48] She grabbed my hand, and I kid you not, Nick, I felt her hand in mine, as if she was still alive holding my hand. I said, Oh Mom, you are so incredibly beautiful, and in her typical sense of humor fashion, she said, I know, isn't it great?

[00:17:05] That's my mom right there. We then drove a little further, and I asked her what heaven was like. She looked at me with a partial serious look and a partial smile, and said, Sally, which is my nickname. You know I can't tell you that.

[00:17:21] We then said a few more things, which now I don't recall what we discussed. Also, when we were talking, our mouths never moved. We were speaking through our minds. I also remember asking if she had seen her grandmother yet, as they were very close in

[00:17:36] this life, and she said, not much because Granny had been in the hospital, which I thought was odd, but I went with it. The next thing I know, we were at some building, and she got out to go inside, and that's when I woke up.

[00:17:51] I know for a fact that she visited me that night to let me know that she's okay. We always had a pact that whomever went first would come back and let the other ones know that we were okay. She kept her end of the pact.

[00:18:07] I cherished that visit so incredibly much, and it brought me such peace which I desperately needed as I was grieving heavily over her death. Another quick thing about my mom is that she wanted me to have a baby so, so bad, but

[00:18:21] unfortunately it never happened while she was alive on earth. She passed away in November 2009, and in May 2010, I found out I was pregnant with my son. I know that she went to heaven and put in a good word for me, and made sure that I was

[00:18:37] sent my angel baby, because he is the only thing that could save me and bring me back from my intense depression. I tell everyone that he was the last gift from my mother. Our next experience comes to us from Todd, and Todd's experience is called Reincarnation or Doppelganger.

[00:19:03] Todd says, When I was eight years old, my family was on a vacation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. We were walking up and down the main strip when, from out of nowhere, a woman walked up and grabbed me by the shoulders.

[00:19:17] She began to shake me and kept screaming, Scott, over and over. My parents ran over and she calmed down. She apologized several times and told us that I was the spitting image of her son, Scott, that had passed away ten years earlier.

[00:19:33] I was terrified but my parents blew it off. We then left, and that was that. The strange thing is that people have been mistakenly calling me Scott my entire life. I'm 47 now, and I've been getting called Scott once or twice a month for as long as I can

[00:19:50] remember. My name is Todd, which isn't even close to Scott. Even my favorite high school teacher called me Scott. However, she did it intentionally because she said I was the spitting image of her son, Scott, that was ten years older than me.

[00:20:06] Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I loved the show, and keep up the great work. Our next experience comes to us from Jory. And Jory says, I recently discovered your show and have been listening to every episode while I'm on the road for work.

[00:20:26] I enjoy it very much. I have always seen a very dim veil of lights in my vision in the dark. I was told that this was due to my eyes trying to find light when it's dark, and I was told this by an eye doctor.

[00:20:40] The darker the object I'm looking at is, the more prominent they are. It's hard to describe. They're not blinding. They're just kind of blended together. The encounter I had was when I was about eight or nine years old.

[00:20:55] I woke up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom, and when I got to my bedroom door, I sensed motion, but no noise. I looked to my right, and walking down the hallway was a person made of these lights.

[00:21:09] It stopped when it got close to me, and I said, Dad? Thinking that it was my father. Then this star man turned its head as if it was looking down at me. I got scared and jumped back into my bed.

[00:21:23] I kept looking at my doorway, but I didn't see anything or anyone go by. I have not had another encounter like this in my life, but I still see the lights. Our next encounter comes to us from Henry. And Henry says, Hi Nick, I'm from Surrey, England.

[00:21:46] I've just started listening to your podcast, and I absolutely love it. My story is about my great-grandma, who passed away a few years ago of cancer. The weird thing was the night after she died. I dreamt of seeing her and her kissing me on the head.

[00:22:03] I think this was a way of her saying goodbye. But it doesn't stop there. I further dreamt of an intense dream of my grandmother being in a heavenly place, and of her being a teacher, teaching young children.

[00:22:18] A few days later, I found out that she was a teacher when my grandma was younger. In the bedroom, I have an old toy of a parrot that is powered by batteries, and usually says the odd phrases like any childhood toy would.

[00:22:33] When I was in my bedroom, the parrot started saying, Hello there, and guess who? And it then started moving. Now, please bear in mind that the parrot hadn't been used in 15 years, and there were no batteries in it at all.

[00:22:49] As mad as it seems, I questioned the parrot, but the parrot didn't respond. I then talked to a medium, and even they suggested that it might have been my grandma, trying to communicate.

[00:23:02] A few days ago, a photo of my mom and my late grandfather flew off the shelf. Glass went everywhere, and I cut my finger a tiny bit. I think that this was my grandfather letting me know that he is here too. But I need to find out more.

[00:23:19] It's hard to describe what's going on, and I mostly feel shocked and disbelieve. I always worry that my grandparents who have passed will be upset of me not understanding their messages coming across. At the moment, I'm learning tarot and my psychic abilities

[00:23:35] in order to learn to communicate with spirits. I love helping spirits and the paranormal world.
