[00:00:00] Tonight's episode is brought to you by my newest contributors, Jason, Mark, Haley, Avian, Dixie, Heidi, and Lisa. Thank you so much for making the show possible. Tonight, I'll be talking about a terrifying sighting of a skinwalker in the forests of Northern Ontario.
[00:00:30] A mysterious encounter with a lady in white along a road in New South Wales. And a series of unsettling experiences in a haunted manor in the countryside of Northern Germany. Thank you for joining me, and welcome. I'm your host, Nick Ryan.
[00:01:07] Our first experience of the night comes to us from Chris, and Chris's experience is called Highway Ghost. Chris says, Hi Nick, I am from Brisbane, Australia. I just found your podcast recently and I'm trying to binge it as much as possible.
[00:01:26] I have had a number of experiences that I can share sometime, but the story that I want to share today is my first experience and the reason that I am now so interested in the paranormal. It happened in 1998 when I was about 12 years old.
[00:01:42] It was a few days before Christmas, and I, along with my grandpop, auntie, and one of my cousins were driving to a regional town in northern New South Wales to pick my grandma up from my great-grandma's to bring her home for Christmas.
[00:01:57] The drive was about three and a half hours, and we left late in the afternoon. We had been in the car for about two and a half hours. I can't remember the exact time, but the sun had gone down.
[00:02:10] We were driving down the country highway when we came over a crest, and there was what appeared to be a woman standing in the middle of the road. She was dressed all in white and didn't have any distinguishable features.
[00:02:24] My grandpop slammed the brakes on the car, causing them to lock up, and we slid to a stop a few meters past where the figure was. We never felt the car hit anything, and when we got out to look, there was no damage, and
[00:02:38] the lady was nowhere to be seen. We spent a few minutes looking in all directions, but saw no evidence of a person having been there. I am not sure what it was, but I assume it was a ghost or something similar.
[00:02:52] Still to this day, twenty-five years on, the scene is vividly ingrained into my mind. My grandpop has since passed, but my aunt and cousin refused to talk about that night. Our next experience comes to us from Elsa, and Elsa's story is called,
[00:03:14] I grew up in a old haunted manor. Elsa says, Hi Nick. First, I would like to say thank you. I am glad to have discovered your podcast and to now know that other people may have strange experiences in their lives too. I am happy to not be alone.
[00:03:34] I hope to one day meet some like-minded people like your listeners. Keep up the great work, and stay genuine. I would like to tell you about some of my paranormal experiences that I've had in my life up till now. I am twenty-seven by the way.
[00:03:51] I would not necessarily say I am seeking these experiences, but more like they just happen, and they need a mind to be open enough to allow it to just be. I have the gift of turning my rational mind off. That's all it needs.
[00:04:07] Anyway, I grew up in North Germany, close to Berlin in the countryside. My parents bought a very old manor house there when I was very young. The house was built in the early 17th century, which makes it Baroque.
[00:04:22] Throughout its years, it must have seen a lot of gloomy history. It would have been built during the Thirty Year War, which saw destruction of entire regions, following a plague and famines. It would have seen Napoleon's troops, and survived the First and Second World War.
[00:04:41] Inside, it has very old creaking wooden floors, no wall is perfectly straight, and the cellar seems to have been built even before the house and looks Gothic, just like the old church ruin situated next to the property. This would have been around the 12th to 15th century.
[00:04:59] Apparently the house even had an underneath connection from its cellar to the burial vaults of the church. These don't exist today anymore, but it adds to the idea of the house. The house was even described by a German poet to be having two faces.
[00:05:16] The one can be seen in sunny days when it looks friendly and welcoming, whereas dim and rainy weather makes it look spooky and melancholic. This is the one side that adds to my story that I'm going to tell. The other side contributing to these experiences is me, myself.
[00:05:37] Since I can remember, I was open to the idea of there existing more than what we can just see. I would describe me as an energy sensitive, and I pick up on a lot of things. I even have had telepathic experiences.
[00:05:52] You could call me a highly sensitive empath. This time I don't want to talk about my intuitive skills though. I think it still adds up to all the experiences I made growing up in that house, and should be mentioned.
[00:06:06] The very early memory about the house being spooky are from waking up at night times alone in my room. I must have been very small, at about 4 years old. I remember hearing floorboards creaking as if someone was walking around.
[00:06:21] It was always hard going back to sleep from the uncomfortable feeling of not being alone at night, even though no one should be walking around at that time. It made me feel uncomfortable, but I had to live with it.
[00:06:35] The next experience that I made in the house was at around 14 years old. I was the last to be up at night doing housework. I noticed a black shadow walking in the hallway.
[00:06:46] At first I thought it must be my mind making things up, but after seeing it one more time, it started creeping me out, and I closed the door to hopefully not see the movement anymore. However, it happened again.
[00:07:00] Even through the milky glass of the door, the corners of my eyes detected the shadow. I was freaked. The next day, a family member came forward and told me that they had seen the same thing in my room.
[00:07:15] About two years later, I must have experienced the most creepy haunting up until now. Once again, I woke in the middle of the night. My dog had carried up one of our newly born kittens and dropped it in the middle of my
[00:07:29] room, which in retrospect makes me think the dog wanted my attention to become more aware of what followed, and the dog would not normally do this kind of thing. The kitten fell to the floor and started meowing.
[00:07:43] Of course, I had to get up and take it back to its mother. After walking back to my bedroom, I had to pass the dark living room, which had its door standing wide open. I heard a sound like a wailing woman coming from this unlighted room.
[00:07:58] Startled, I stood still and just listened. Could it be the wind coming through the fireplace? I stepped forward to the doorstep and noticed that the entire room was giving off this cry.
[00:08:11] It was not coming from one place, but more so the whole room was encased in this sound. As I was standing there listening, I loudly said, Hello? At this point, the crying stopped instantly, and a needle dropping could have been heard.
[00:08:28] I knew this was not normal and I could do nothing about it. I didn't want to freak myself out, and I decided I just needed to go back to bed. I turned my back and the howling started up again.
[00:08:41] I knew that I had just discovered a new haunting, and wondered if other family members heard this too. It was so loud that the others must be easily hearing this. My one parent was very concerned for me after talking of this experience, since they were
[00:08:58] not believing me and worried I was doing substances. This made me sad to not being believed in, and even accused. About a year later, my parent came forward to me and apologized for not believing me, as they had heard the exact same crying as I described.
[00:09:16] My parent even had gotten up at night time to go and check, believing that our dog was in misery. It turned out to be the same room, and I was so glad to have not heard it again.
[00:09:29] After we got the house energetically cleaned by a professional, it helped out to quiet and calm the house. It was way more relaxing to spend time in it after dawn. Even though I still made some experiences here and there, none of them had greatly upset
[00:09:44] me like the crying one. I do know of a little girl living with us who from time to time can be seen running around, but she seems more like a curious child who likes to play.
[00:09:56] I know this sounds creepy, and even is now to me as I write this, but upon meeting it never feels scary, and more like a light and giggly breeze, curiously checking for everything to be alright.
[00:10:12] Others have had way more spooky encounters in this house too, like intruding spirits waiting for the door to open. There are too many for one to tell though. The calmness from the cleaning held on for a few years, but now the activity is picking
[00:10:27] up once again, and waiting for new experiences to be made. Thank you for reading Nick. I hope your listeners have enjoyed, and can take something from this for your own. Kind regards, Elsa Before I continue, please consider showing your support by subscribing, sharing, and

[00:11:52] Hey Nick, I'm new to your podcast, but immediately I am hooked. It is reassuring to know that I am not the only one who believes in the paranormal and has experienced it. While I do have many stories to share, I thought I'd share my most unsettling encounter yet.
[00:12:10] While it is rather long and over a span of time, each timeline is very important, to the chilling end. I went to college in northern Ontario, Canada, bordering Quebec. It was as you would picture it, a very small town, and while most people in my residence
[00:12:27] found the town rather boring, seeing as it was mostly forestry and lakeside, I grew up in the country and have always felt peaceful in nature. I grew up living in the center of a forest, so I was used to that lifestyle and environment. I personally found it beautiful.
[00:12:46] Growing up I would take my dogs for a walk in our forest trail in the dark, so I was very comfortable being alone in the dark in a forest-type environment. This college neared a landmark known as Devil's Rock.
[00:12:59] It was a hiking trail that neared a cliff that all of us students were fond of visiting. The cliff happened to be the best spot for stargazing, and it was also the only location
[00:13:09] where you could see the northern lights, so I was very fond of going there in the nighttime. I didn't have many friends, but the ones I did have didn't enjoy nature as much as I did, or they were afraid to go to Devil's Rock at nighttime.
[00:13:23] I however was not, because as I said, I am very comfortable being in the forest at nighttime. I used to go by myself all the time, lay on the cliff, and watch the stars, and I never experienced anything. That is until the one time that I did.
[00:13:43] I started seeing a boy in my residence, and at that time it was around the time of year that the northern lights were as clear as day. It was my idea that as a date we could go to Devil's Rock and see the northern lights.
[00:13:56] It was around 10pm, and it was November, so it was getting cold. However he did not seem to mind the cold or express that he felt afraid to go in the dark. So we went, and it was as beautiful as every other time I had gone.
[00:14:11] Nothing was unusual, until suddenly I noticed my then boyfriend stray his eyes away from the stars and start looking into the forest. At first he just looked curious, but then I watched his face suddenly look terrified. He said to me, do you see that?
[00:14:29] I looked around the best I could, but I saw nothing. So I told him I couldn't see anything, and I asked him what he saw. He then said, you don't see that thing standing over there? Again I looked, but saw nothing.
[00:14:44] I then asked him what it was that this thing looked like. He proceeded to describe to me a deer-like creature that stood up on its hind legs, like a man. He told me that it was insanely tall and looked inhuman.
[00:15:00] I was unnerved by this, but still not afraid. I then told him that we could leave, so that I could get him to calm down and feel safe once again. When we got back to my apartment, we sat on the couch for hours.
[00:15:13] He was shaken, and I could not get him to settle. He was astounded that I could not see what he saw. Over the next month, I watched him grow tired and restless, and he told me that he couldn't
[00:15:25] sleep because he kept dreaming about that thing that he saw in the forest. He told me, it won't let me sleep. I felt awful, and I truly believed him, but I didn't see what he saw, so I felt that I couldn't help.
[00:15:41] I always use empathy to console people, so I felt like I couldn't console him because I didn't understand what he saw. It frustrated me. A week later, I decided to drive four hours away to go visit my best friend in Ottawa.
[00:15:56] She was also away at school and had an apartment, so I decided to stay with her for a week. Redue Street is very popular for roadside stands, street activities, and all sorts of gatherings.
[00:16:08] My best friend and I have always believed in ghosts and in supernatural things, so we decided to pay to see a psychic. My best friend went first, and almost all of the things that were said to her by the psychic were fairly normal.
[00:16:22] She talked about her future career, her future husband, and where she'll meet him, so on and so forth. Then it came to be my turn. I sat down, and the psychic took one look at me and went ghostly white. All she said was, You've seen one.
[00:16:40] I was confused, so I asked her for clarification. She then proceeds to explain to me that she could sense that I had encountered a skinwalker, and that it was either attached to me or someone that I know.
[00:16:55] I looked to my best friend, who I had told about the situation at Devil's Rock, and we looked at each other with fear. I asked the woman to elaborate on what she meant. She then said, Quote, It was there, but you couldn't see it.
[00:17:10] It can't hurt you, so it didn't want you to see it. Unquote. I asked her why it couldn't hurt me, and she smiled and said, You're a light. It can't hurt you.
[00:17:23] The reading had me shaken, but I decided to take it with a grain of salt, seeing as while I do believe in these things, I can be skeptical when they happen.
[00:17:32] I just labeled it as a coincidence, and I never brought it up for the rest of my stay. My first night home from Ottawa in my apartment, I had a vivid dream. It was nighttime, and I was in the forest.
[00:17:46] I was walking toward Devil's Rock, as I usually would. Except, in my dream, it took a turn. A dark cloud formed over where I could see the cliff. I stopped in the trail and stood there and watched as an eerie feeling washed over me.
[00:18:02] Suddenly, from the darkness, a deer appeared on the cliff. It looked like a completely normal doe, but I felt terrified. Something was off about the deer. I knew it wasn't a deer. I stood there and watched as it slowly snapped and torqued its figure, and then stood up
[00:18:21] on its back legs, and formed itself into this insanely tall, distorted figure. I knew this was the thing that my boyfriend saw. It was exactly as he described. It stood there and stared at me, and I stared back at it. Then suddenly I stopped feeling afraid.
[00:18:40] I remembered what the psychic said to me. I smiled confidently in my dream and started walking towards it. The closer I walked, the smaller the being stood. I knew what I had to do. I opened my mouth and shouted, You cannot hurt me, and you know it.
[00:18:58] I am giving him my light, and you will leave him alone. At this point, the figure made an eerie sound, almost like the call of a deer, but a demonic version. I then woke up, and I was unable to fall back asleep.
[00:19:15] Later that afternoon, I visited my boyfriend, and he told me that he had slept for the first time in a month, and he didn't dream about the thing that he saw. He never dreamed of it again, as far as I know.
[00:19:28] I still don't know if what that woman said to me is true or not, and if it was just simply a coincidence that I had had that dream the night before my boyfriend stopped having nightmares.
[00:19:38] I still am unaware of what it means to be a quote-unquote light, but since then I have seen another psychic who resides in my hometown. She told me that I am an empath, which is why I always try to understand how people feel when I comfort them.
[00:19:54] I don't just care about them and feel sympathetic, but I feel what they are feeling. She told me that empaths are a light and can take pain away from people, which is why I feel what people are feeling, even if I can't relate to the pain they feel.
[00:20:10] She told me that what I have is a gift and to be picky who I give my light to. I never told this psychic about what happened at my school or about what the other psychic in Ottawa told me.
[00:20:24] I hope you enjoyed my story, and maybe I can connect with more empaths to try to understand what I am and what I am capable of. I hope you enjoyed tonight's episode, and before I go, I'd like to thank Chris, Elsa,
[00:20:43] and Alia for coming forward with their experiences. And remember that if you'd like to submit your experience or learn more about supporting what I do, you can find all of my contact and support information at paranormalmysteriespodcast.com, as well as in the show notes.
[00:21:02] Until next time, thank you again for listening, and I hope you'll join me for my next episode as we continue our journey into the unexplained, right here on Paranormal Mysteries.
