[00:00:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome and thank you for joining me. I'm your host, Nic Ryan.

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Tonight's episode is brought to you by my newest supporters Rahul, Jill, R, Alexandria,

[00:00:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and Dave. Thank you for making the show possible.

[00:00:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Our first experience of the night comes to us from Sarah, and Sarah's experience is

[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_00]: called Ghost Skipper. Sarah says,

[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I really enjoy your podcast and hearing paranormal experiences from other listeners. I rarely

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_00]: come across stories about the spirits of people's pets coming back to visit them, and I have

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_00]: a sweet story about that that I'd like to share.

[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Growing up we had a yellow Labrador named Skipper. He was a very sweet dog, albeit a

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: little aloof. In his old age, Skipper had severe hip dysplasia, resulting in chronic

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_00]: pain and mobility issues to where he wasn't able to hold himself standing upright, let

[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_00]: alone walk. He also was in the beginning stages of heart failure, and no longer showed interest

[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_00]: in the things that he loved. So when he was 10, my family made the difficult decision

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_00]: to put him down. Skipper was our first pet, and his loss was devastating.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: About a month after he died, my brother was home from college on Christmas break, and

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_00]: we were up late one night about 12.30am playing a board game in the family room downstairs.

[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_00]: We have an unfinished basement, and Skipper loved sleeping down there, especially in the

[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: summer. We always left the basement door open a crack for him, and we continued to do so

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_00]: for a while after he died, just out of habit. The door to the basement is just off the family

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_00]: room, and was in plain view from where we were sitting. On this particular night, my brother,

[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_00]: just out of the blue, looked at me and said, Skipper haunts the basement. Now I had always

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: been somewhat doubtful about ghosts up until that point, so I gave him a skeptical look,

[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_00]: and I asked, what makes you say that? He replied that since he'd been home over the last few weeks,

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: the basement door would open on its own late at night while he was downstairs watching TV.

[00:02:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember what I said exactly, but I gave him a dismissive response, and then,

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_00]: almost on cue, the basement door that had been cracked open, slowly opened on its own,

[00:02:43] [SPEAKER_00]: as if someone or something was slowly nudging it until it was about halfway open.

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: This is exactly the way Skipper would open the door every time he came upstairs.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_00]: My brother pointed to the door and said, see? Skipper haunts the basement.

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know what to think. At first, I thought that maybe it was just the furnace kicking on

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_00]: as it was winter, but the way it nudged itself open was too distinctive, and that explanation

[00:03:10] [SPEAKER_00]: seemed unlikely given just how far it opened. But I still didn't think too much of it or take

[00:03:15] [SPEAKER_00]: it seriously until I experienced something myself a few months later.

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_00]: By this time, it was late spring, and I was home alone one early afternoon doing laundry in the

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_00]: basement. We have a split-level home, and the washer and dryer sit below the kitchen,

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: and coincidentally this was directly below where we had kept Skipper's food and water bowls.

[00:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: When he was alive, we had a linoleum floor in the kitchen,

[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and tile was in the front hallway that led into there. Skipper liked laying on the tile,

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and whenever you were in the basement you'd always hear him walking around the kitchen upstairs

[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: getting a drink from his bowl because his nails made a very distinct sound on the two types of

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: flooring. Anyway, while I was doing laundry, I thought I heard what sounded like something with

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_00]: four legs walking up the stairs that were above and to the left of me leading up from the family

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: room to the main hallway. When I paused to listen, I heard the noise again, but this time it was

[00:04:10] [SPEAKER_00]: louder and continued on. It was the unmistakable sound Skipper's nails made on the tile floor in

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_00]: the hallway when he got to the top of the stairs. I was able to literally follow the sound as it

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_00]: moved across the floor to the spot above me. It was very clearly Skipper's footsteps going from

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: the hallway and across the kitchen to his water dish that would have been right above my head.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_00]: The floorboards creaked and everything. I was even expecting to hear him lapping up water,

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_00]: but the sound stopped as soon as it reached where the water bowl would have been.

[00:04:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't hear any steps leading away from that spot. It just ended. As I said, I was home alone,

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: so I knew it wasn't from someone else in the house. I immediately called my brother to tell

[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_00]: him that he was right and give him the satisfaction of saying, told you so.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_00]: For the next year or two, Ghost Skipper, as we affectionately called him,

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_00]: continued to show his presence by walking across the hallway and kitchen, always around the same

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_00]: time and in the exact same way I heard that afternoon. My brother eventually heard it too,

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_00]: as did my mom while I was down there with her one day. She's a firm paranormal denier though,

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and insisted it was just random noises. That is until Ghost Skipper manifested himself in a third

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_00]: way. We eventually got another dog, a black Labrador named Buddy, about three years after

[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Skipper died. Once we got Buddy, a very interesting thing started to happen. We stopped hearing him

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_00]: walk around, and instead we would hear someone breathing directly in our ear, the way someone

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_00]: sounds while sleeping. Skippy had his favorite spots in the downstairs family room, the same

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_00]: one where my brother and I were playing the game late at night, and this is where he'd like to take

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_00]: naps. Right after we got Buddy and he was around three months old, I would oftentimes sit on the

[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_00]: couch downstairs with him late at night after I took him to go potty, because he didn't want

[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_00]: to go back to sleep. One night, around 3.30am, Buddy and I were watching Meerkat Manor, one of

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_00]: his favorites, and he was finally starting to fall back asleep when I heard breathing directly in my

[00:06:17] [SPEAKER_00]: right ear. The sound came from kind of behind me and over my shoulder, and it was right in my ear.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_00]: There was no mistaking that sound, and let me tell you, it was creepy. Buddy heard it too,

[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and he was suddenly awake and on point, looking at one specific part of the room which happened

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_00]: to be Skipper's favorite spot. Strangely, Buddy didn't seem to be upset by this and he fell back

[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_00]: asleep. I, however, was freaked out, so I quickly put Buddy back in his kennel and I went upstairs

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_00]: to bed, all freaked out. Now, despite the creepiness, the breathing sounded calm and peaceful,

[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and it was just how Skipper sounded while he slept. The only difference was that it was right in your

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_00]: ear. The first time this happened would have been about ten years ago now, and to this very day,

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00]: it still happens sporadically. It always happens in the same part of the room, between 2 and 4 am,

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and always into the right ear. My brother has heard it multiple times as well, and one day,

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: a few years ago, my mom, the skeptic of skeptics, even said to me,

[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_00]: You know how you and your brother say Skipper haunts the basement? I think you guys are right,

[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_00]: because I keep hearing breathing if I'm up early and sitting downstairs.

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Now, here's the kicker. Neither my brother or I have ever told her that we heard it.

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I have no doubt that all of these occurrences are Skipper telling us that he's still here.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure exactly what makes a spirit linger, but in this case, I think he's just trying to

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_00]: stay near us. As I said at the beginning of my story, Skipper was always sort of aloof and kind

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_00]: of a scaredy cat who'd stick close to us when he was nervous about something. I think that he is

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_00]: just looking for comfort from across the rainbow bridge. I miss my dog, and I appreciate that he

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_00]: misses us too, although I do wish that he wouldn't breathe in my ear. It always catches you off guard.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Our dog buddy has since passed away himself, and he always seemed to be watching and very

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_00]: closely following something at the spot where this most frequently happens, so I have to wonder if he

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_00]: saw Skipper. I'm sure they have since met in the afterlife and enjoy running through the mud

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_00]: together. Buddy died about five years ago, and I was curious if there would be more paranormal

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_00]: activity, but it's actually stayed the same as it was before and while we had Buddy. I think maybe

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_00]: the difference in their personalities might have something to do with that. Anyway, I hope you

[00:08:45] [SPEAKER_00]: enjoyed my story, and I really hope you share it on your show. Like I said, I can never really find

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_00]: much out there about pet spirits, and I'm curious to hear if your other listeners have experienced

[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: something like this as well. Please let me know if you do share it or would like to see a picture of

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Skipper. He was a very handsome boy. Until then, please keep the awesome stories coming. I do have

[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_00]: a few more to share, but this one is the one that I really wanted to tell. Thank you and take care.

[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Sarah. From Chicago, Illinois. Our next experience of the night comes to us from Barbara,

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and Barbara's encounter is called... Encounter with an Entity and Native Americans.

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Barbara says... I had lived in a different town than I am now, and I have had a few encounters

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_00]: that I have no explanation for. The first one was when I lived in the house with my twins and

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_00]: husband, and I've had a few encounters with what I've been calling an entity. This occurred a

[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_00]: little under 30 years ago. I was in my bathroom fixing my hair when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I turned around and was in the middle of saying, what do you want? But there was no one there,

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_00]: yet I could sense a presence. I went back to fixing my hair, and it happened again. Now,

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't particularly frightened or concerned, just quite curious as to what had just happened.

[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Then, though, I heard my husband call me from the opposite side of the house.

[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_00]: However, my husband was not even in the house at that time. Nothing much occurred after a number

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_00]: of years afterwards at the same house. Then, when my twins had left home to live elsewhere

[00:10:30] [SPEAKER_00]: and go to college, we had moved to a different town. During the time we lived in this new location,

[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_00]: we adopted a young lady that was originally from Peru. After we'd been out of the first house for

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_00]: quite a few years, this daughter was doing a lot of work on it in order to put it back on the

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_00]: market to sell. There were times that my daughter had friends over and they would spend the night.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_00]: During the night hours, these friends would be awakened by a presence that was holding them down

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_00]: in their beds. This presence would hurt them by not letting them get up. They couldn't stop it

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_00]: from happening. This happened over and over with other people as well, and it had also happened to

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_00]: this same daughter. Eventually, we had workers come out to the house at one point, and they

[00:11:13] [SPEAKER_00]: experienced the same thing. They were so frightened that they left the house and some of their

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_00]: equipment that they'd been using behind, and they refused to come back there ever again.

[00:11:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I just never understood why this entity would hurt everyone else but me, and I haven't been able to

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_00]: find anyone that can explain why he never did. I don't know if you can tell me why, but I'm writing

[00:11:33] [SPEAKER_00]: in hopes that you can give me an explanation. Another time, I would awaken from hearing the

[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_00]: sounds of Native Americans dancing around a circle with a fire in the center and whooping.

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I would go to the room where I heard them and just listen. I couldn't see them with my eyes,

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_00]: but I could in my mind. I'd go back to bed and I would still hear them, and I would once again go

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_00]: back in there to check. This happened quite a number of times. I've since moved into that room,

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_00]: and I use it to sleep in now. However, I haven't heard them since.

[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I've experienced a few other things, and perhaps I'll write about them at another time.

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I just haven't been able to understand why I've been experiencing these things.

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_00]: If anyone has advice for Barbara, please reach out to me, and I'll put you in touch with her.

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and I'm grateful to have you here. Now, please stay tuned, and I'll be right back,

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_00]: after these brief messages.

[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next experience of the night comes to us from Miley. And Miley says...

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Hi Nick, I love your podcasts, and I listen to them almost every day while painting.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to share my experience because I thought it might be cool to hear it on one

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_00]: of your episodes. I was around 5 or 6 when this happened, and living with my mom and my grandma.

[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_00]: We are a very religious family, although me and my mom had not been practicing it back then.

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_00]: One night, my mom was carrying me to our room to go to sleep. Now keep in mind that it was a fairly

[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_00]: small house, and the hallway was very narrow. As she's carrying me down the hallway, I'm screaming

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_00]: and kicking and crying, and repeating, no, no, don't take me in there. Please mom, there's

[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_00]: something in there. Of course, not thinking anything of it, my mom forced me to go in.

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: She said that she would lay with me until I fell asleep, to assure me that there was nothing there.

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, there was a shelf at the end of the bed with a whole knick-knack collection.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_00]: About 5 or so minutes into sitting and waiting for me to fall asleep, all of a sudden,

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_00]: all of the knick-knacks flew off the shelf and onto the floor. My mom, now panicking,

[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_00]: picked me up and ran outside to my grandma. Me and my mom refused to ever step foot back

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_00]: into that house ever again, because my mom had had some experiences earlier in her life.

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Earlier in that same house, I had what my mom called a gutter friend. You see,

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I would sit outside for hours just talking to the gutter, and when my mom asked who I was talking to,

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd say, the lady in the gutter, mom. To this day we have no idea what it was in that gutter,

[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_00]: but that went on for about a year. Anyway, I'll be sharing more stories another time,

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and thank you so much for putting this in your podcast if you do. And keep up the good work.

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_00]: One of your biggest fans, Miley.

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next experience comes to us from Alicia, and Alicia's experience is called Frequent Happenings.

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Hi Nick, I recently started listening and I'm glad I found your podcast.

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_00]: It really does help knowing there's other people out there that can relate to our strange

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_00]: experiences. I live in Ohio, in my husband's family home that his parents built in the 1950s.

[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Since we have been married and lived in that house these past 14 years,

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_00]: us and our children have had numerous events, but nothing big or terrifying, thank god.

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_00]: All of us have heard either music or talking from another room. If you're in the living room,

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_00]: it sounds like it's in the bedroom and vice versa. And when you go to investigate,

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_00]: there's nothing or no one there. For me personally, while lying in bed at night,

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_00]: we have felt tugs on the comforter. I've been touched by what feels like an adult-sized finger

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_00]: on my knee at night, and I know it's not my husband because of the position I was lying in bed.

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Another time in our spare bedroom, I heard a female voice say,

[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_00]: can she hear me? However, I was the only female in the house at that time.

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_00]: None of these events have had a sinister feeling to them, and at this point we are used to odd

[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_00]: things happening on occasion. We are very curious though, what it is. Thank you.

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Alicia

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next experience comes to us from Kat, and Kat's experience is called

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Grumpy Old Ghost Turned Friend

[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Kat says

[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Hi Nick. I love the podcast and the stories that people have shared over the years.

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought I would share one of my own experiences, and as you can probably tell from the title,

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_00]: this one has a happy ending. About 10 years ago I moved into a rental property,

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_00]: and it was my first time living without family or friends. I was excited and ready for a change

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_00]: of scenery. The house was around 30 years old, and one of 10 houses built on what was previously

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_00]: a much larger block of land. When I went for the initial inspection, I didn't get any weird

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_00]: feelings from the house, granted it was midday on a gorgeous sunny day, and it was a very quick

[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_00]: walkthrough. Getting the keys to the house was so exciting, and I started moving in the next day

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_00]: with the help of my boyfriend. I knew the first night in a new house, especially alone as my

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_00]: boyfriend had to work, might be weird, as I would be getting used to the new noises of the house and

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_00]: area, but I had no idea what I was in for. It was just my dog Maddie and I towards the end of

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_00]: the night. I was so exhausted from the day that I stopped unpacking and called it a night around 930

[00:17:49] [SPEAKER_00]: pm. I could tell that Maddie was tired too. She's an older dog, and had also had a big day running

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_00]: around exploring the new house and the yard. Maddie slept at the foot of my bed, and after 10

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_00]: minutes or so of looking at my phone, I turned off the lamp and closed my eyes. Ready for sleep.

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: As I closed my eyes, an enormous crashing sound came from the kitchen. I was startled. Normally,

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Maddie would jump to alert at an unexpected noise, but this time she was staring at the bedroom door

[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and growling. This was unusual behavior for her, and my nerves were shot in that moment.

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_00]: However, I got up and turned the lights on. The bedroom flowed off the kitchen, so in a few steps,

[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I was there. As the light turned on, I saw a baking tray by itself in the center of the kitchen floor,

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_00]: still wobbling from the fall. Now when I say that it was in the center of the kitchen,

[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_00]: it was dead center. I had two boxes on the kitchen bench, but nothing was stacked up or on an edge

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_00]: where it could have easily fallen. The tray would have been at least halfway down the inside of the

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_00]: box which was still upright, and there was nothing else out of place. Suffice to say,

[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_00]: there was no way that it could have just slipped on its own. I felt frozen as I stared at this

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_00]: wobbling tray and the box, realizing that there was no way this could have happened on its own.

[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Maddie was standing next to me, still growling. I picked her up and ran back into the bedroom.

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_00]: As a funny side note, at this point in my life, I would have considered myself a skeptic when it

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_00]: came to psychics or mediums. When I got back into my room, I was freaked out and I picked up my

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_00]: phone to call my boyfriend when I saw that I had a text from one of my friends, who happened to be

[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_00]: a psychic, and she was asking me about how the move went that day. As I was drafting a slightly

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_00]: panicked response, she sent a second message that said, don't worry, there is nothing to be afraid

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_00]: of, it's just the house getting used to you. Now some weeks later we caught up and I asked her what

[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_00]: she meant, and she said, I didn't know what I meant when I sent it, only that you needed to hear it

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_00]: straight away. Over the following weeks and months there were small but odd things happening around

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_00]: the house, and some parts of the house had a very heavy energy. There were rooms that I hated being

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_00]: in and would only go in there if I absolutely had to, and almost never at night. The house overall

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_00]: didn't have a bad feel to it, it was just certain parts, but it wasn't all the time, if that makes

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_00]: sense. My boyfriend would stay over Friday to Mondays, and he is like me in that we're not

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_00]: closed off to the paranormal, but at that time we were very much only operating within the physical

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_00]: world. I had told him what had happened on that first night, and he believed me, and he felt bad

[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_00]: that he wasn't there. Over time, he too started noticing things as well, but being the level-headed

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_00]: person that he is, he didn't mention a lot of what he witnessed or felt, until much later.

[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how to explain it, but I knew very early on that this energy around me

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_00]: felt like an angry old man who didn't want us, or anyone, around. The tension in the house would

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_00]: increase whenever we had a guest over. The only way I can describe it is that it felt like someone

[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_00]: was always staring at you with intense anger. However, I kept this to myself, mostly because

[00:21:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought I was just imagining things, and to be honest, part of me didn't want to believe it.

[00:21:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Six or so months go by, and on one very uneasy day in particular, out of nowhere I snapped,

[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_00]: and I yelled out, give it a rest, I'm not going anywhere, I live here now, so get used to it,

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_00]: or leave. For months after this, the house remained completely uneventful. The energy felt

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_00]: lighter, and even my boyfriend, who at the time didn't know that I had yelled at the could-be

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_00]: ghost, mentioned that the house had felt better recently. Over the following months and years,

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_00]: we, and even some guests, would say that you could sense a presence in the house,

[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_00]: but that it wasn't negative like before. It was just kind of neutral. We still had happenings in

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_00]: the house, but they didn't feel scary. Gadgets with no batteries would sometimes randomly make

[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_00]: noises in the room that used to feel the heaviest, but it didn't feel creepy like it had before.

[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_00]: One of the things that started happening when things felt better in the house

[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_00]: was hearing the kitchen light flick off every night, even though it was already out. This was

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_00]: always followed by hearing another bedroom door down the hall close, even though it was already

[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_00]: closed. Typing it out does sound creepy, but I want to assure you and the listeners that it

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_00]: actually felt calming. This happened for years, and it just became a thing. We eventually nicknamed

[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_00]: the sound maker Ghosty, and we started to think of him as our roommate. Over the years, we had

[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_00]: numerous encounters with the ghosty. One night I was really upset as my dog Maddy had been unwell,

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and I was nervous for her vet tests the next morning. When I eventually fell asleep,

[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I woke up to the feeling of someone sitting at the end of my bed and gently resting their arm

[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_00]: on my lower leg. Again, it was not scary but rather calming, and I felt a huge wave of reassurance that

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_00]: she would be okay, and thankfully, she was. Another time, I felt someone lean over me and kiss me on

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_00]: the cheek while I was asleep. I was laying on my side facing the outside of the bed. I felt the

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_00]: weight of someone place their hands on the mattress on either side of me, kiss me on the cheek,

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_00]: then lightly push themselves back up, and then walk away. My boyfriend was there that night,

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_00]: so I just assumed it was him getting some water from my bedside in the middle of the night,

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and I then fell straight back asleep. When I woke though, I saw that we both had water on our

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_00]: bedside tables. I then asked him why he got out of bed and came over and gave me a kiss on the cheek

[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_00]: last night. However, he looked at me and said that he didn't. I told him that I felt the weight of

[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_00]: him leaning on the mattress and the small kiss, but he swore that it wasn't him. There were so

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_00]: many instances like this over the last seven and a half years that we were in that house.

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_00]: In many ways it felt like we had a loving grandparent with us who used to look out for us.

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_00]: When we eventually decided to move, we wondered about Ghostie. We would often invite him to join

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_00]: us in the new house when we talked about the move. On the last night in the house, part of me felt a

[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_00]: bit sad to be leaving our friendly ghost behind, and that night I had my first ever dream of Ghostie.

[00:24:23] [SPEAKER_00]: He was a tall, lean man with silver hair and green eyes. He was standing in the front door,

[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_00]: looking down the hallway towards our bedroom, and he had the light from outside shining around him.

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_00]: He was smiling, nodding his head, and he was waving at me. In my dream I knew that it meant

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_00]: that he was going to stay with the house. It felt like a beautiful goodbye. As I bring tonight's
