[00:00:34] Our first experience of the night comes to us from Whitney, and Whitney's experience is called,

[00:00:41] Sound With No Source. Whitney says,

[00:00:46] This took place on a private property owned by my family in Northeast Alabama in the fall of 1992.

[00:00:53] My family owns a large farm in Etowah County. It was the ideal place to grow up, and I wouldn't take a million dollars for any of my childhood memories. Not even this one.

[00:01:05] My sister and I, along with a couple of our same-aged cousins and one close family friend,

[00:01:10] experienced several odd and even terrifying things growing up on that land. This was before the time of internet,

[00:01:17] when kids still played outside, and we regularly stayed out till well past dark, fishing, riding horses,

[00:01:24] building forts in the woods, and other outdoor adventures of all sorts.

[00:01:29] For my entire life, I had experienced creepy things that always frightened me, and I have too many stories to tell,

[00:01:35] but this one took place after I was a bit older, around 11 to 13 years old or so.

[00:01:42] The days were shorter, and we didn't have much daylight once school let out,

[00:01:46] so me and our best childhood friend decided to saddle up two of our horses and go for a ride.

[00:01:51] Our friend, myself, and my younger sister were seldom separate from each other,

[00:01:56] but she was afraid of horses, so she stayed behind.

[00:02:00] We had raced up to a very high point that overlooked the land,

[00:02:03] and we were just sitting there enjoying the sunset and letting the horses catch their breath,

[00:02:08] when we caught sight of my sister running away from the house,

[00:02:11] and it was very apparent that something was wrong.

[00:02:14] We ran down to check on her, and when we got there, she was frantic and out of breath.

[00:02:20] She said that she was at home waiting for us to get done with the horses,

[00:02:23] but that noises in the house had creeped her out, so she decided to walk to our cousin's house.

[00:02:29] I didn't blame her because our house was haunted and scary,

[00:02:33] and I didn't like to stay there by myself either.

[00:02:36] She then explained that once she got out of our driveway and started up the road,

[00:02:40] she could hear something coming up behind her.

[00:02:42] She said that it sounded like something dragging on the gravel road,

[00:02:46] but that she couldn't see anything.

[00:02:47] No matter how fast she ran, she couldn't get away from it,

[00:02:51] and it seemed to stay just out of sight.

[00:02:54] She first thought that it must have been a dog that had gotten loose from someone,

[00:02:58] and was dragging a leash or a chain, and the dog was just following her.

[00:03:03] At this point, I said that we should go back that way and see what it was,

[00:03:07] and that it was probably a dog or just some other animal,

[00:03:09] but she refused to get on either horse,

[00:03:12] so she and our friend waited there,

[00:03:14] and I rode ahead to check it out.

[00:03:16] By this time, it was very near dark.

[00:03:20] I rode down the dirt road towards home, listening for the sound.

[00:03:24] Our property is very rural, and we only had one streetlight then.

[00:03:29] I rode to the light, and I stopped.

[00:03:32] The road started down a slight hill at this point,

[00:03:34] and the trees created a hollow where no light penetrated.

[00:03:38] I figured that this would be the best spot to see whatever it was,

[00:03:41] and sure enough, I could hear the sound coming towards us from the dark hollow.

[00:03:46] I waited, and the sound came closer and closer.

[00:03:50] It did sound just like something being dragged on the gravel road.

[00:03:53] It was a constant sound, not like footsteps.

[00:03:57] Whatever it was was about to be visible in the light, so I stood my ground.

[00:04:02] At this point, my horse started to get nervous,

[00:04:05] which was completely out of character for him.

[00:04:07] He was as solid as a rock, and seldom ever spooked.

[00:04:11] The sound finally broke out of the hollow and into the light,

[00:04:14] about 20 to 30 feet from us.

[00:04:17] However, there was absolutely nothing there.

[00:04:20] My horse was about to throw me off, but I was so stunned that I couldn't think.

[00:04:24] It got so loud that it seemed to fill up my head,

[00:04:27] and finally, my horse just turned and took off as fast as he could,

[00:04:31] and we left the sound behind.

[00:04:34] When we got back to the others, I told them about what had happened,

[00:04:38] and we were all so scared that we didn't know what to do,

[00:04:41] because we had to go back that way to get the horses home.

[00:04:44] Eventually, though, we did make it home,

[00:04:46] and didn't hear the sound again that night,

[00:04:49] but for several nights following that,

[00:04:51] it could be heard going past our house,

[00:04:53] and up the hollow.

[00:04:55] Eventually, it stopped happening,

[00:04:57] and we've never heard it,

[00:04:59] ever again.

[00:05:00] Our next experience comes to us from Lena.

[00:05:07] And Lena says,

[00:05:09] Hello Nick, I've been listening to your podcast for quite some time,

[00:05:12] and as a paranormal fanatic,

[00:05:14] I'm literally obsessed.

[00:05:16] To give you some context,

[00:05:17] I live in a small town in southeastern Europe.

[00:05:20] The town has close to 30 villages around it,

[00:05:23] with nothing but older people and a lot of forests,

[00:05:26] and beliefs in witches and psychics are fairly common.

[00:05:30] I would like to tell you a story that my mother recently shared with me.

[00:05:33] And I'm going to call it,

[00:05:36] Encounter with a Strange Woman.

[00:05:39] 20 years ago, before I was born,

[00:05:41] an old, and, as my mother describes it,

[00:05:43] mysterious woman,

[00:05:45] came into the bakery where she was working at that time.

[00:05:48] She looked at my mother and said,

[00:05:50] Your baby doesn't sleep very well,

[00:05:52] am I right?

[00:05:53] My mother was kind of shocked when she heard that,

[00:05:56] because my brother was a very weepy infant,

[00:05:58] so she asked the woman to repeat what she had said.

[00:06:01] The woman then replied,

[00:06:03] Dear, dear,

[00:06:05] maybe your firstborn child doesn't like to sleep,

[00:06:07] but don't be afraid for him.

[00:06:09] He will come to his senses.

[00:06:10] You should be worried about the other one coming.

[00:06:13] When she comes,

[00:06:14] she will sleep like a cow,

[00:06:16] but that's why she will suffer later in life.

[00:06:18] She will neither sleep nor look up at the sky.

[00:06:21] Through sadness,

[00:06:23] she will live her life.

[00:06:25] She left after saying this,

[00:06:27] and my mother didn't respond because she was so stunned.

[00:06:30] That woman made such an impression on her

[00:06:32] that she didn't want a second child.

[00:06:34] However,

[00:06:35] four years later,

[00:06:36] I was born as a mistake,

[00:06:38] and the reason my mother shared this story with me

[00:06:40] is because

[00:06:41] I was recently diagnosed with insomnia.

[00:06:44] That woman was right.

[00:06:46] My brother stopped crying and spinning in bed,

[00:06:49] but I started at 13 years old.

[00:06:51] We don't know if she was just telling fortunes

[00:06:54] or actually casting a curse,

[00:06:56] but what she said that day

[00:06:57] was the absolute truth,

[00:06:59] and in a way,

[00:07:00] I'm kind of grateful

[00:07:01] that she warned my mother.

[00:07:13] Our next experience comes to us from Barry,

[00:07:16] and this is their story.

[00:07:19] Hello, Nick.

[00:07:20] I am from Six Nations Reserve in Canada,

[00:07:23] and I think your podcast is great.

[00:07:25] I listen daily on my commute to and from work,

[00:07:28] and I'd like to share three experiences that I've had.

[00:07:31] My first is from when I was 16.

[00:07:35] Around this time,

[00:07:36] I always used to hear voices in my room,

[00:07:38] which was in our basement,

[00:07:39] but the voices were like people having conversations.

[00:07:43] For this reason,

[00:07:44] I always slept with my TV on.

[00:07:46] One night, though,

[00:07:47] I was in bed with my girlfriend at that time,

[00:07:49] and she wanted the TV off,

[00:07:51] so I complied.

[00:07:53] Later in the night,

[00:07:54] I was lying on my side half asleep and half awake

[00:07:57] when something grabbed my right shoulder,

[00:07:59] and in a guttural demonic voice,

[00:08:01] it said to me,

[00:08:03] Where's your God now?

[00:08:05] I didn't know what to do

[00:08:07] except keep my eyes tightly shut

[00:08:08] and try my hardest to go back to sleep,

[00:08:11] which I did succeed in doing,

[00:08:13] and nothing more happened that night.

[00:08:15] However,

[00:08:16] I still heard voices

[00:08:17] and slept with the TV on

[00:08:19] from that point forward.

[00:08:21] The second experience was at my aunt's house

[00:08:23] in Niagara Falls, New York.

[00:08:25] I was sleeping on her couch in the living room,

[00:08:28] which is connected to her kitchen

[00:08:29] and the stairs to her upper floor

[00:08:31] via a landing,

[00:08:32] and this is when I saw an apparition of a woman

[00:08:35] wearing a red dress,

[00:08:36] and she had medium-length brown hair.

[00:08:39] She was standing on the landing

[00:08:41] looking out

[00:08:41] as if through a window.

[00:08:43] I didn't feel any negative energy

[00:08:45] coming from her,

[00:08:46] and she paid me no heed.

[00:08:47] So,

[00:08:48] I just rolled over,

[00:08:49] and I went back to sleep.

[00:08:51] I told my aunt about my experience

[00:08:53] the next day,

[00:08:54] and she informed me

[00:08:55] that a lot of activity

[00:08:56] occurs in her house.

[00:08:58] I heard lots of stories

[00:08:59] from family members

[00:09:00] who have lived there with her,

[00:09:01] but those stories

[00:09:02] are not mine to share.

[00:09:05] My third story happened

[00:09:07] within the last year or two.

[00:09:09] I am living on my reserve

[00:09:10] with my fiancé,

[00:09:11] who I will refer to

[00:09:13] as C,

[00:09:13] and our children.

[00:09:15] She is gifted in that

[00:09:16] she can feel energies,

[00:09:17] and she also does readings for people,

[00:09:19] and can pass on messages

[00:09:20] for loved ones.

[00:09:22] We have a lot of energy

[00:09:23] around our house.

[00:09:25] Once again,

[00:09:26] I was lying on a couch

[00:09:27] in our living room,

[00:09:28] and I kept dozing off

[00:09:29] when C said to me,

[00:09:31] Let's go to bed.

[00:09:32] I kept trying to get up,

[00:09:34] but I kept falling back

[00:09:35] and dozing off.

[00:09:37] This happened about

[00:09:38] a handful of times.

[00:09:39] It was like I couldn't get up,

[00:09:41] almost like I had sleep paralysis.

[00:09:43] The last time I opened my eyes,

[00:09:45] there was a black figure

[00:09:46] which looked to be a woman

[00:09:48] with wild hair,

[00:09:49] and she was sitting on my chest.

[00:09:51] She had both hands

[00:09:52] around my throat,

[00:09:53] and she was choking me.

[00:09:55] I tried to call out for C,

[00:09:57] but I couldn't.

[00:09:58] I was finally able

[00:09:59] to move my right arm,

[00:10:00] and I lifted it,

[00:10:01] jabbing my thumb

[00:10:02] into the thing's eye,

[00:10:03] and it disappeared.

[00:10:05] I woke from my sleep paralysis,

[00:10:07] and my hand was still

[00:10:08] in the same position

[00:10:09] as when I thumbed its eye.

[00:10:12] I finally got up,

[00:10:13] and I told C about my experience,

[00:10:15] and she told me

[00:10:16] that she was doing something

[00:10:18] in the kitchen

[00:10:18] while I was still on the couch,

[00:10:20] and that is when

[00:10:21] she saw a black figure

[00:10:22] run from the side

[00:10:23] of the living room

[00:10:24] where I was on the couch

[00:10:25] to the kid's room

[00:10:26] that was on the other side

[00:10:27] of the house.

[00:10:28] She thought that it was

[00:10:29] our daughter,

[00:10:30] and she called out to her.

[00:10:31] However,

[00:10:32] then,

[00:10:32] my daughter came out

[00:10:33] of our bedroom,

[00:10:34] which is off the kitchen,

[00:10:35] and she said,

[00:10:36] what, mommy?

[00:10:38] After this,

[00:10:39] C cleansed the house

[00:10:40] with sage,

[00:10:41] and cleaned out

[00:10:42] all the negative energy.

[00:10:45] I haven't had any other

[00:10:46] experiences lately,

[00:10:47] thankfully,

[00:10:48] and I hope that you

[00:12:00] with the light

[00:12:01] in your room.

[00:12:02] My cousin and I

[00:12:03] had a similar experience

[00:12:04] but in another country.

[00:12:06] We lived in El Salvador

[00:12:07] at the time,

[00:12:08] and were the same age

[00:12:10] as you.

[00:12:10] My cousin lived

[00:12:11] with my family

[00:12:12] while attending school

[00:12:13] in El Salvador,

[00:12:14] but went home

[00:12:15] to another town

[00:12:16] about an hour away

[00:12:17] on the weekends.

[00:12:19] One night,

[00:12:20] I noticed a light

[00:12:20] moving in a very strange way.

[00:12:22] It kind of bounced

[00:12:23] and moved

[00:12:24] in a sort of

[00:12:24] tight little

[00:12:25] diamond-shaped pattern.

[00:12:26] We lived somewhat

[00:12:27] close to a volcano,

[00:12:29] and that is what

[00:12:29] I could see

[00:12:30] out my window.

[00:12:31] My cousin

[00:12:32] is very easy

[00:12:33] to scare,

[00:12:33] so I showed it

[00:12:34] to him

[00:12:34] and began teasing

[00:12:35] him about aliens

[00:12:36] and about what

[00:12:37] would happen

[00:12:38] if they came

[00:12:38] and abducted us

[00:12:39] for noticing

[00:12:40] that they were there.

[00:12:41] He quickly told me

[00:12:42] to shut up

[00:12:43] and to not talk

[00:12:44] about that.

[00:12:45] To me, though,

[00:12:46] it was funny

[00:12:46] to see him scared,

[00:12:47] but I did keep it

[00:12:49] in the back

[00:12:49] of my mind.

[00:12:51] I will describe

[00:12:52] part of the house

[00:12:52] because it's important

[00:12:53] to what happened.

[00:12:55] The bedrooms

[00:12:55] in the house

[00:12:56] were on the second floor.

[00:12:57] At the top of the stairs

[00:12:58] was the door

[00:12:59] to my room.

[00:13:00] Across the hall

[00:13:01] was my younger sibling's room,

[00:13:02] and my parents' room

[00:13:03] was to my left.

[00:13:04] There was a huge mirror

[00:13:06] at the end

[00:13:06] of the set of stairs

[00:13:07] where you made a right

[00:13:08] on a little space,

[00:13:09] and then as you turn again,

[00:13:11] there was the other

[00:13:12] set of stairs

[00:13:13] that led to the second floor.

[00:13:15] In front of the door

[00:13:16] was my cousin's bed,

[00:13:17] and mine was parallel

[00:13:18] to his,

[00:13:19] and we had a nightstand

[00:13:20] with a radio

[00:13:21] and a lamp.

[00:13:22] We only had one window

[00:13:23] that was at the foot

[00:13:24] of my bed,

[00:13:25] but it was very wide

[00:13:26] along the wall

[00:13:27] toward the back end

[00:13:28] of the room,

[00:13:28] where our heads were.

[00:13:29] We usually went to sleep

[00:13:31] listening to music,

[00:13:32] and I'd put a timer

[00:13:33] on the radio

[00:13:34] for it to turn off.

[00:13:36] That night,

[00:13:37] after teasing him,

[00:13:38] we went to sleep

[00:13:39] as usual,

[00:13:40] but I woke up

[00:13:41] all of a sudden,

[00:13:41] and I couldn't tell

[00:13:42] what time it was,

[00:13:44] but it seemed

[00:13:44] to be after midnight.

[00:13:46] For some reason,

[00:13:47] I asked him

[00:13:48] if he was awake,

[00:13:49] and he said yes.

[00:13:50] We noticed

[00:13:51] that the radio

[00:13:52] was still on

[00:13:52] and was tuned

[00:13:53] to a late night talk show,

[00:13:55] and the host

[00:13:55] was talking

[00:13:56] about aliens.

[00:13:57] We both got scared

[00:13:59] and turned it off,

[00:14:00] and began to talk

[00:14:00] about other things

[00:14:01] to take our minds

[00:14:02] off the subject.

[00:14:04] While we were talking,

[00:14:05] a light came into the room,

[00:14:07] and from my perspective,

[00:14:08] it looked like

[00:14:09] it came to the window,

[00:14:10] bounced off the left side

[00:14:11] of the wall,

[00:14:12] and then to the back wall

[00:14:13] of the room

[00:14:14] where our heads rested.

[00:14:15] It then bounced

[00:14:16] to the wall

[00:14:17] where the mirror was,

[00:14:18] but it did not reflect

[00:14:19] off the mirror.

[00:14:20] I could see this

[00:14:21] because my parents

[00:14:22] made us sleep

[00:14:22] with our doors open.

[00:14:24] It then went back

[00:14:25] to my room

[00:14:25] and filled it

[00:14:26] with a flash,

[00:14:27] and it was like

[00:14:28] everything turned

[00:14:28] into a blinding white,

[00:14:30] and then it was just gone,

[00:14:32] as fast as if

[00:14:33] nothing had ever happened.

[00:14:35] I heard a thump

[00:14:36] when my cousin

[00:14:37] turned our night lamp on,

[00:14:38] and I saw him

[00:14:39] on the floor.

[00:14:40] He said that he

[00:14:41] couldn't move his legs,

[00:14:42] and I tried to get up

[00:14:43] as well,

[00:14:44] but I felt like

[00:14:45] I was moving

[00:14:45] in slow motion,

[00:14:46] or like something

[00:14:47] was trying to hold me down.

[00:14:49] It could have been

[00:14:50] just because of the shock,

[00:14:51] but the funny thing is

[00:14:52] that I don't remember

[00:14:53] us trying to wake

[00:14:54] my parents up.

[00:14:55] We just went back

[00:14:56] to sleep,

[00:14:57] as if nothing had happened.

[00:14:59] We didn't talk about it

[00:15:00] for many years,

[00:15:02] but the memory comes up

[00:15:03] every now and then.

[00:15:05] This was the first

[00:15:06] of many things

[00:15:07] that have happened,

[00:15:08] and I may write about

[00:15:09] those at a later time.

[00:15:10] Has anyone else

[00:15:12] this type of feeling?

[00:15:31] of the night

[00:15:32] comes to us

[00:15:33] from Megan,

[00:15:34] and Megan says,

[00:15:36] Hey Nick,

[00:15:37] I have two experiences

[00:15:38] about paranormal encounters

[00:15:40] that my family

[00:15:40] and a friend encountered.

[00:15:42] As a side note,

[00:15:43] my family and friends

[00:15:45] are indigenous,

[00:15:46] which plays a part

[00:15:47] in these stories.

[00:15:49] The first story

[00:15:50] I'm going to call

[00:15:52] Uninvited Guests.

[00:15:54] This took place

[00:15:55] around 2007.

[00:15:56] My uncle's wife,

[00:15:58] named Robin,

[00:15:59] is an expert

[00:15:59] in her tribe's

[00:16:00] basket weaving techniques.

[00:16:02] She used to host

[00:16:03] classes at various

[00:16:04] indigenous cultural centers

[00:16:05] throughout the state

[00:16:06] that we live in.

[00:16:07] She decided to take

[00:16:09] a few years off

[00:16:09] due to her mother

[00:16:10] undergoing health issues.

[00:16:12] During that time,

[00:16:13] Robin made three baskets

[00:16:14] and gifted them

[00:16:15] to my mom

[00:16:16] for her wedding anniversary.

[00:16:18] I remember my mom

[00:16:19] being so excited

[00:16:20] and bragging

[00:16:21] that she got baskets

[00:16:22] from the famous Robin.

[00:16:24] A short time later,

[00:16:26] after Robin's mom passed,

[00:16:27] she decided to start

[00:16:28] offering classes

[00:16:29] once again.

[00:16:30] One day,

[00:16:31] Aunt Robin stopped

[00:16:32] by my parents' house

[00:16:33] to ask if she can

[00:16:34] borrow the baskets

[00:16:35] that she had made

[00:16:36] for my mom

[00:16:37] to use as displays

[00:16:38] for her classes.

[00:16:39] Of course,

[00:16:40] my mom agreed.

[00:16:41] Several months passed

[00:16:43] and Robin returned

[00:16:44] the baskets.

[00:16:45] My mom proudly

[00:16:46] returned them back

[00:16:47] to the brick mantle

[00:16:47] above our fireplace,

[00:16:49] which we never use.

[00:16:51] Things were quiet

[00:16:52] for days,

[00:16:52] but then,

[00:16:54] my sister suddenly

[00:16:54] began to sleepwalk

[00:16:56] and opened the front door.

[00:16:57] She never had a history

[00:16:58] of sleepwalking

[00:16:59] until that week

[00:17:00] that those baskets

[00:17:01] came back.

[00:17:02] This was the first

[00:17:03] and only time

[00:17:04] that she opened the door,

[00:17:05] and things got

[00:17:06] even more strange.

[00:17:08] One night,

[00:17:09] about an hour

[00:17:10] after we all went to bed,

[00:17:12] my door slammed open.

[00:17:13] I shot straight up

[00:17:14] in my bed,

[00:17:15] blinded by my hallway lights

[00:17:17] and confused

[00:17:18] by what was going on.

[00:17:20] My sister was at the door,

[00:17:21] staring at me.

[00:17:23] Her hand was on

[00:17:24] my bedroom doorknob,

[00:17:25] and she wasn't

[00:17:26] saying a word.

[00:17:28] What's wrong, Grace?

[00:17:29] I asked in concern.

[00:17:31] Did you have

[00:17:31] another nightmare?

[00:17:33] She didn't say anything.

[00:17:34] She just stared

[00:17:35] right through me

[00:17:36] with a blank expression

[00:17:37] on her face.

[00:17:38] She then slowly turned

[00:17:40] and walked away,

[00:17:41] leaving my bedroom door open.

[00:17:43] I sat in my bed,

[00:17:45] perplexed.

[00:17:46] After a while,

[00:17:47] though,

[00:17:47] I shrugged my shoulders,

[00:17:48] and I got up

[00:17:49] to shut the door.

[00:17:50] I figured that she went

[00:17:51] to my parents' room

[00:17:52] to sleep with them.

[00:17:54] I fell back asleep

[00:17:55] when my door

[00:17:56] flew open once again.

[00:18:01] my dad was standing

[00:18:02] at the door

[00:18:02] with the hallway lights on.

[00:18:04] It's time to get up,

[00:18:06] he quickly said.

[00:18:08] Unlike Grace,

[00:18:09] he immediately

[00:18:09] shut my door.

[00:18:11] I remember looking

[00:18:12] at my alarm clock,

[00:18:13] and it was three

[00:18:18] and didn't have anything

[00:18:19] planned that would

[00:18:20] warrant us

[00:18:20] to be up that early.

[00:18:22] I groggily stared

[00:18:23] at my door

[00:18:23] in complete confusion.

[00:18:25] He usually woke me up

[00:18:27] by turning on my lights

[00:18:28] and singing awfully

[00:18:29] that it was time

[00:18:30] to get up.

[00:18:30] I was so confused

[00:18:32] that I couldn't decide

[00:18:33] if what happened

[00:18:34] was actually real

[00:18:35] or not.

[00:18:37] After about five minutes

[00:18:38] of contemplation,

[00:18:39] I decided that

[00:18:40] if it was real,

[00:18:41] then my dad would come

[00:18:42] and wake me up again.

[00:18:44] Now,

[00:18:44] it was around 8 a.m.

[00:18:45] when I woke up again.

[00:18:47] I got up

[00:18:48] and I went to go

[00:18:49] and find my dad.

[00:18:50] He was in his office

[00:18:51] and watching a sports channel

[00:18:52] since it was football season.

[00:18:54] I asked him

[00:18:55] if he remembered

[00:18:56] waking me up earlier.

[00:18:57] However,

[00:18:57] he adamantly denied

[00:18:59] that he never did that.

[00:19:00] We argued for a bit

[00:19:02] until I gave up.

[00:19:03] I thought it was strange

[00:19:04] and decided to see

[00:19:05] what my mom was doing.

[00:19:06] She was in the master bedroom,

[00:19:08] finishing up,

[00:19:09] paying some bills.

[00:19:10] I said,

[00:19:11] Hey mom,

[00:19:12] did Grace ever come

[00:19:13] in here last night?

[00:19:14] She was sleepwalking again

[00:19:16] and she barged

[00:19:17] into my room

[00:19:18] this time

[00:19:18] and then left.

[00:19:20] My mom looked at me

[00:19:21] and replied,

[00:19:22] No,

[00:19:23] she never left her room.

[00:19:24] I just stared at my mom.

[00:19:26] What about dad?

[00:19:27] Did he get up

[00:19:28] at any point last night?

[00:19:30] My mom shook her head

[00:19:31] and said,

[00:19:32] No,

[00:19:32] he was snoring loud

[00:19:34] last night.

[00:19:35] Well,

[00:19:36] it turns out

[00:19:37] years later

[00:19:38] that my parents

[00:19:39] were hiding a secret.

[00:19:40] Something dark

[00:19:41] had clung to the baskets

[00:19:42] my Aunt Robin

[00:19:43] had given back.

[00:19:44] My mom woke up

[00:19:45] shortly after that incident

[00:19:47] that I had with my dad

[00:19:48] with the same dreadful feeling

[00:19:49] that she had experienced

[00:19:50] when she was little.

[00:19:52] She felt a heavy,

[00:19:53] malevolent,

[00:19:54] shadowy entity

[00:19:54] sitting on her chest

[00:19:56] and she became

[00:19:57] temporarily paralyzed.

[00:19:59] She woke my dad up

[00:20:00] once the feeling passed

[00:20:01] and she said

[00:20:02] that there was

[00:20:02] dark magic

[00:20:03] coming from the living room.

[00:20:05] My dad then

[00:20:06] grabbed his Bible

[00:20:07] and began praying

[00:20:08] throughout the house.

[00:20:10] To this day,

[00:20:11] I think about

[00:20:11] those interactions

[00:20:12] and those

[00:20:13] things

[00:20:14] that were pretending

[00:20:15] to be my sister

[00:20:16] and my dad.

[00:20:17] They were adamant

[00:20:18] in luring me

[00:20:18] to the living room,

[00:20:19] but for what reason?

[00:20:21] I wasn't sure.

[00:20:22] But I do wonder

[00:20:23] what would have happened

[00:20:24] if I had followed

[00:20:25] one of them.

[00:20:25] I wondered if my bedroom

[00:20:27] was protected by angels

[00:20:28] since the entities

[00:20:29] never entered my room.

[00:20:31] My family believes

[00:20:32] that a jealous witch

[00:20:33] placed a curse

[00:20:34] on those baskets

[00:20:35] to hurt my aunt.

[00:20:37] My aunt was shocked

[00:20:38] when she heard

[00:20:38] what had happened

[00:20:39] and always blessed

[00:20:40] her baskets

[00:20:41] before taking them

[00:20:42] to her classes.

[00:20:45] My second story

[00:20:46] is called

[00:20:47] The Red-Eyed Creature.

[00:20:50] My friend Josh,

[00:20:51] an indigenous college student

[00:20:53] and close family friend,

[00:20:55] decided to return

[00:20:55] to our rural hometown

[00:20:57] in Oklahoma

[00:20:57] during the summer semester.

[00:20:59] My cousin Eric

[00:21:01] had told him

[00:21:01] that our preacher

[00:21:02] at the nearby church

[00:21:03] we attended

[00:21:03] needed some additional help

[00:21:05] with mowing the lot

[00:21:06] that summer,

[00:21:07] and Josh

[00:21:08] agreed to help.

[00:21:09] That next Saturday

[00:21:10] was a hot,

[00:21:11] sticky,

[00:21:12] and humid day.

[00:21:13] They all decided

[00:21:14] to meet right before dusk

[00:21:15] to start lawn maintenance

[00:21:16] since it was going

[00:21:17] to be cooler right then.

[00:21:19] Josh decided to show up

[00:21:20] about 30 minutes early

[00:21:21] to get all of the equipment out

[00:21:22] and ready for everyone.

[00:21:24] Josh forgot to grab

[00:21:25] his earplugs

[00:21:26] from his truck

[00:21:27] and he parked

[00:21:27] across the street

[00:21:28] since the entire parking lot

[00:21:30] was covered in grass.

[00:21:31] As he was walking

[00:21:32] back to the church,

[00:21:33] he froze

[00:21:34] in his tracks.

[00:21:37] There,

[00:21:37] standing in front of him,

[00:21:38] was a huge,

[00:21:39] deformed,

[00:21:40] animal-like creature,

[00:21:42] and it was standing

[00:21:42] on all fours.

[00:21:44] The dimming light

[00:21:45] from the sunset

[00:21:46] exposed its mangy

[00:21:47] and rotting pelt.

[00:21:49] One leg

[00:21:49] was inched forward,

[00:21:51] and it was silently

[00:21:52] staring at the front

[00:21:53] of the church,

[00:21:54] waiting for something,

[00:21:55] or someone.

[00:21:57] Josh didn't know

[00:21:58] what to do

[00:21:59] or think.

[00:21:59] He couldn't even move.

[00:22:01] His heart was pounding

[00:22:02] and felt like it was going

[00:22:03] to burst out of his chest.

[00:22:05] Suddenly,

[00:22:06] the creature turned

[00:22:07] its enormous head.

[00:22:08] One side looked similar

[00:22:10] to a swollen owl's head,

[00:22:11] and its other side

[00:22:12] was completely mutilated

[00:22:14] with flesh dripping

[00:22:15] off its jaw.

[00:22:17] It was startled

[00:22:18] by Josh's appearance.

[00:22:20] The creature had huge red eyes

[00:22:22] that were too big

[00:22:22] for the creature,

[00:22:23] and it stared right at him,

[00:22:25] as though it was

[00:22:26] studying Josh.

[00:22:27] Somehow,

[00:22:28] it didn't even hear Josh

[00:22:29] walking to the church.

[00:22:30] At this point,

[00:22:32] the creature then belted out

[00:22:33] a large roar

[00:22:34] that pierced Josh's ears.

[00:22:36] It stood up

[00:22:37] on its hind legs,

[00:22:38] and it heavily barreled

[00:22:39] toward a line of trees

[00:22:40] a few yards away.

[00:22:42] Josh could have sworn

[00:22:43] that he saw some red eyes

[00:22:45] slowly disappearing

[00:22:46] from the tree line

[00:22:47] where the demon had fled.

[00:22:48] He had a feeling

[00:22:50] that it was after

[00:22:50] the preacher at the church,

[00:22:52] as the preacher

[00:22:53] was always there

[00:22:54] on Saturdays.

[00:22:56] He believed

[00:22:57] that the church

[00:22:57] and the land

[00:22:58] were cursed

[00:22:58] by medicine men,

[00:22:59] and despite what

[00:23:00] happened that evening,

[00:23:02] Josh still goes out

[00:23:03] to help Moe,

[00:23:04] all the while

[00:23:05] whispering prayers

[00:23:06] to deter

[00:23:08] the demons.
