[00:00:04] This episode is brought to you by my newest supporters, Joe N., Lone Crimson, Fire Mage Joe, Marcella, and Joseph. Thanks for making the show possible.

[00:00:47] Welcome back to Paranormal Mysteries, and thank you for joining me as we explore the unknown. I'm your host as always, Nic Ryan. Let's begin tonight's journey with Sophia, who calls her story, My Unexplainable Paranormal Experience. Sophia says,

[00:01:07] Hello, Nic. I hope you and the listeners are doing well. If you recall, I submitted a story before that you featured on episode 294. It was about my dog, Chiquita's passing. Once again, thank you for sharing my story at that time. This time around, I have a completely different story to tell that is still something I can't quite explain to this very day. Before I get to that story though, I wanted to give you a very quick update that is related to my story from episode 294.

[00:01:36] Long story short, it was quite some time after Chiquita had passed away. I was not taking it so well, especially since, as long as I can remember, there has always been an animal in my home growing up. But with her gone, the house felt so empty, and mentally I was not doing so well because I missed her so much. I went through all the emotions of guilt, sadness, etc. I couldn't even think of getting another dog one day because I wanted my Chiquita.

[00:02:04] Well, one night, I had one of those dreams again, or rather visits from her. But in this one, while I was playing with her, all of a sudden there was this tiny little golden tan chihuahua puppy that came running up and laid down with us. I was confused. Chiquita even started playing with her, which is something she would never do because she did not care for other dogs.

[00:02:25] When I woke up, I had this curiosity to start looking for puppies for sale. After some time, I convinced my parents to let me get another dog, and my search began. I combed through so many ads and websites it was crazy, but I could just not find any chihuahua puppies. I just about gave up when I found an adoption shelter that was just downtown from where I live, in downtown Chicago.

[00:02:48] And that's when I saw her. I saw that little golden tan puppy that was flying in all the way from Texas, and was only two months old. Well, I was sold. And now her name is Bella. She is adorable, full of life and attitude. I like to think that Chiquita knew I needed someone to bring a bit of light back into my life. And I truly think that because ever since I got Bella, I no longer feel something jump up onto my bed at night and walk over.

[00:03:16] That always happened every night. But now it has stopped. I think she is finally satisfied that I am doing much better now, with the little spunky dog, that she sent me. If you don't mind, I would now like to tell you about my experience that happened when I was just about to go into 8th grade, and continued on into high school. So around 2014 to 2015. This story begins years ago. I am 24 now, but I still can recall it all clearly.

[00:03:46] It all began when I was on summer vacation, and I was going into 8th grade. Now, I have always believed in the paranormal. I love watching paranormal movies, hearing spooky experiences, and so on. However, just for myself, I never wanted to experience anything scary. I just never wanted to mess with it, mostly due to me being scared of actually facing anything paranormal. And so, I find it a little weird that this all happened to me. Especially because it was all so very random.

[00:04:15] The day that this happened was just a normal, ordinary day. I did whatever it was I did, and then got ready for bed at the end of the day. Now, before I go on, I would like to say that I had never once in my whole life up to that point, had ever experienced anything paranormal in my house at all. It was just my house. Nothing was ever scary, or anything. So, I did my nightly routine, and I got into bed, which was set up with the headboard against the wall.

[00:04:42] If I turned my head to the left of me, my door was two steps away. Admittedly, I always slept with the light on because I had such a terrible fear of the dark. So, the light was always on at night. But in this case, the light would be of no help. Now that I was all cozy and tucked in, I laid there with my eyes closed, waiting to fall into a deep sleep. Unfortunately though, I did not. It was so weird. I woke up in an instant state of absolute terror.

[00:05:11] The atmosphere in my room was full of dread and fear. It didn't feel right at all. I somehow just knew that there was something very wrong, and that I had to get away. I needed to get out of my room. I could feel my heart pounding out of my chest, and my breathing was rapid, almost breaking me into a panicked sweat, as my eyes scanned my entire room, afraid of what I might find. Now, even in the middle of me feeling this overwhelming amount of fear,

[00:05:38] I somehow knew that one of the things that was off was that my room didn't look quite right. It was like there was a very brief second in which I realized that this was a dream, and then that thought was gone, because I was too scared to think about anything else. Now, whenever I dream, they are always very real, and I always know that I am dreaming. That's just how it works for me. I feel that I almost always have lucid dreams. It all happened so fast.

[00:06:04] One minute, I was sitting upright in my bed, petrified as I looked around my room. And then the next moment, it was like a whoosh feeling. And I was above my room. I was on top of my ceiling on the opposite side of my room, in the corner. I was so shocked. As I looked down, I could see myself in my bed. My body was in my bed, and laying down. It made no sense. I didn't understand how I could seemingly be in two places at once while being in the same room, if that makes any sense.

[00:06:33] I was just looking down at my body from above, and my heart felt like it was racing. What made it even worse was that my fear was now growing. I had the horrible feeling of fear that I had to get away. I felt that he was coming. Now, I didn't know who he was, but I was about to. And then, just as swiftly, I was no longer above my room. I was flung back into my body, laying down in my bed, unable to move, with my head turned facing the door.

[00:07:03] My instinct to run was gripping at me. It was like deep inside, it was screaming at me that this was very, very bad. At this point, my door was no longer there, and it was fairly dark in the doorway. I think I could feel myself wanting to cry, but I just couldn't. And then, I saw him. He was standing there, staring at me. I don't know how I knew that it was a he, but I just did.

[00:07:28] I just knew that he was evil, that he shouldn't be here, and that under no circumstances should he be near me. He was so tall, about the height of my doorway. I remembered that he wore overalls. I remember looking at him, but I couldn't see his face. It was like I was being prevented from seeing his face. But even without seeing it, I had the most sickening feeling of knowing for certain, that he was smiling at me. It felt like time was so slow, like this moment would never end.

[00:07:57] I actually thought that this was where something was going to happen to me, and I wasn't able to do anything about it. And then, I woke up. I was in my bed, and my room was full of daylight. I could still feel a small amount of danger lingering. I physically could not move or speak. I tried to sit up, but I couldn't. I desperately tried to scream, but it was no use. I just laid there in my bed, locked in. But then, it stopped.

[00:08:25] I could feel my room becoming normal again, and just like that, I shot up in my bed. I was just sitting there in my bed, in a cold sweat, trying to register everything that just happened. Some tears had fallen, as my first thought was to call for my mother. And I tried. My mouth moved. My throat was straining in attempts to call for her, but no words would come out. And then, all of a sudden, I was able to jump out of my bed. And I ran out of my room.

[00:08:53] That experience is honestly the scariest thing I have ever experienced, and I have no idea why it came out of nowhere. It just never made sense to me. After that happened, I started to have other things happen to me. There were times when I thought I saw something in the corner of my eye. And there was a time when I was in my bedroom, and I leaned over on top of my bed to adjust my lamp on the nightstand. This is when I distinctly heard something hiss at me.

[00:09:19] Now, I have never owned a cat, and at the time, when Chiquita was still alive, she had been nowhere near me. She started to bark at the door in the kitchen that led downstairs every night. And one time, she seemed to run after something that I saw dart away in the air out of the corner of my eye, when me and my mother were present. For a while, I would always think that there might be something in the house because I would just get that sense that there was something there.

[00:09:44] And I had such fear of our basement. I never wanted to go down alone or at night. This was silly because our basement was our laundry room, and next to it would be considered a smaller apartment. Plus, at that time, my grandfather lived down there, and he never mentioned it feeling negative at all.

[00:10:03] My mother is the kind of person that doesn't believe in ghosts, but she did understand that I was scared when I would protest against going downstairs at night, and she would just tell me that everything would be alright, because God will protect me. I do believe that, but it was hard when you go through what I went through, and you try not to be scared. After some time, I was a freshman in high school, and this is where it all had its dramatic end.

[00:10:30] There was a day when my mother asked me to go downstairs to get something, and so reluctantly I was going to do just that. This was in the evening around dinner time. I opened the door that led to the downstairs, and as I was about to take my first step, I felt hands on my back, and they pushed me. I went tumbling down the staircase, and thank God they weren't so long. I laid on the staircase on my back in a fair amount of pain, utterly confused.

[00:10:58] I considered myself lucky, because although the staircase was short, there are metal frames on the ends of each step, and I don't think that it would have ended well if I had landed on my head. My mother had rushed over and started panicking calling for my dad. I assured them though that I was okay, and for some reason I chose not to tell them the whole story. I just said that I had tripped, and then fell down. However, the feeling of hands on my back pushing me was drilled into my memory.

[00:11:27] Not long after this, I started waking up being covered in bruises. And I mean covered. My legs were so full of bruises that I was afraid to go to gym class because everyone would see my legs. Even my parents started to question me, asking me what had happened, and saying that it was really weird. At that time, I just decided to talk to my mother about everything from the beginning. This part makes me happy though, because even though she didn't believe in ghosts or anything like that,

[00:11:54] one thing about my mother is that if anything was threatening me or my younger brother, it was going to have to answer to her. That day, my mother went through every single room of the house with her carton of holy water, blessing everything with prayer. She did so as if she was daring whatever was going on to just try and challenge her. And amazingly, after almost two years, it was all over. That horrible feeling was gone. My bruises eventually disappeared, and I never got them again.

[00:12:25] Chiquita stopped barking at the door, and I never experienced anything threatening like that ever again, to this day. I also no longer have a fear. Of the basement. I honestly don't know why it all happened, and I don't know what it all was, but I am grateful that my mother somehow put an end to it after I finally opened up more, and I explained what I was going through. Thank you again, Nick, and I wish you and everyone well. Take care.

Our next experience comes to us from Ruby. And Ruby had this to say. Hello, Nick. Before I share my experience, I want to let you know that me and my mom listen to your show in the car, and we absolutely love it.

[00:13:49] My experiences are happening right now in my house in Melbourne, Australia, and they have been happening for a few years. I'm going to call it, Bob, as my family joke about that being the name of the entity. For a little while, we had a cleaner that would come to our house every week. One day out of the blue, she asked my mom if she believed in ghosts. To put a long story short, she told my mom that she was a psychic medium, and would always talk to the old man while she cleaned.

[00:14:18] She informed us that he wasn't mean or wanted to hurt us, and that he liked our house, and liked playing tricks on us. I have always been a lover of scary things and ghosts, so one day I was bored, and I wanted to test out if the cleaner was right. Briefly under my breath, I muttered, If there is something in here, give me a sign. Immediately after I said that, my curtains unraveled and then fell down. I told my dad about this experience, and he didn't think much of it.

[00:14:47] All he said was, It's fine. It's just Bob. One morning, I was laying in bed about to get up when my dad came in, and he asked if I had run past him. But I told him that I hadn't, and that I had been in my bed all morning, to which my father looked confused. He then proceeded to tell me that in the corner of his eye, he saw a child running past him, and he just assumed that it was me.

[00:15:11] Similar things would happen to my dad, and he always told me and my mom that he either saw a figure of an old man, or a young child. Another thing that would frequently happen is things would go weirdly missing, and after searching the whole house, they would be found in the exact same spot next to the linen cupboard. These things included my mom's diamond from her diamond ring, her charm bracelet, and my little cousin's toy.

[00:15:38] The last thing that is happening all the time is something to do with a mimic. I would always hear my parents calling out to me when they never did, and vice versa. This has been happening for years, even before we thought that something lived in our house. My family doesn't really get scared about these things, as we all watch horror movies and we go on ghost tours. However, I just wanted to share my experiences, as I know that other people might be able to relate. Once again, thank you for your show, Nick.

[00:16:08] Me and my mom absolutely love listening to it, and hearing other stories that are similar to ours. Our next experience comes to us from Kristen, and Kristen calls their story, Paranormal Night in the Old Railroad Tunnel. Kristen says, I am a new listener, so thank you if my story makes it on. This story takes place about 15 years ago now, in Rockland, Pennsylvania,

[00:16:37] at an old railroad tunnel that had been renovated into a bike trail. This area is very popular for younger adults and teens in the area to hang out, and spray paint at night. I was driving around with a few other friends, when we decided that we wanted to go and spray paint song lyrics and tags inside the railroad tunnels. We drove out very late at night, close to 2.30 in the morning. We entered the tunnels and got to work spray painting and having fun. We had probably been there about 20 minutes,

[00:17:06] when we all heard footsteps in the tunnel come running right up behind me, and making the hair on my neck stand up. I spun around, shining my flashlight, but nothing was there. My friends who heard it too all stopped, and we were very silent. You could have heard a pin drop. We then heard footsteps further up the tunnel, and we all turned in the direction of those footsteps. But still, we saw nothing. At that point, I yelled out, Who's there? Quit effing around and show yourself.

[00:17:35] But it remained silent. My friends then began yelling, Who's there? Show yourself now! And at that point, a strong cold wind started blowing through the tunnel, which isn't necessarily weird, but we were already nervous, and our senses had been heightened. The running footsteps then came again from behind us, but this time I got scared, and I started running away, and all my friends had joined me running outside of the tunnels. We then noticed that despite the stronger cold wind inside the tunnels,

[00:18:04] there was no breeze, and it was very warm outside. We then ran the whole way back to my car, and I drove out of there crazy fast, kicking up dust and rocks. The next morning, I told my dad about the experience, and he told me that it wouldn't surprise him if a lot of people passed away during the original build of those train tracks. Our small town had even previously had a young girl who was found murdered in that area. I will never forget this experience,

[00:18:33] and I have never gone back there at night again. Before I bring tonight's episode to an end, I'd like to thank all of our experiencers for coming forward with their stories. And of course, I truly appreciate each and every one of you for listening and showing your support. With that being said, I hope you have a wonderful rest of your evening, and I'll be back in just a few short days with more tales of the unexplained.

[00:19:00] Right here on Paranormal Mysteries. We'll be right back.
