[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And with all that in mind, our first listener's story comes to us from Adam.
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_00]: And Adam's story is called The Missing Hour.
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Adam says, Hi Nick, thanks for the great podcast.
[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_00]: It is one of the few things that truly helps a lot of people to try and make
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_00]: sense of the unaccountable.
[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I for one have had some truly bizarre experiences throughout my lifetime.
[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I am especially interested in the stories relating to missing time, as my own defining
[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_00]: brush with the preternatural is intertwined with this phenomenon.
[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll try to make my story as concise as I am able with as much background information
[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_00]: as possible regarding specific details related to the event.
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I had a job teaching English in Nagoya, Japan to kindergarten children during 2014, and
[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I had a bit of a commute to get to work.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I had to take the subway several stops, transfer to a different line, and then take
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_00]: a bus a short distance, and the last leg of the journey was a short 10 minute walk
[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_00]: or so.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_00]: My usual routine was to take the subway to Hoshigalka Station, where I would meet
[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: a co-worker and we would ride the bus together.
[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And we would hop off the bus and swing by a 7-Eleven convenience store to grab lunch
[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_00]: or snacks for the day.
[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_00]: My co-worker and I needed to punch into work no later than 9.
[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_00]: We would board the bus at the station at 821, 15 minutes or so on the bus, then another
[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_00]: 5 minutes in the convenience store, less than 10 minutes or so walking, and we would
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_00]: be at work.
[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_00]: We would arrive between 845 and 850 almost every time, like clockwork.
[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_00]: One day in the summer of 2014, this was not the case.
[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_00]: My co-worker and I met up at Hoshigalka Station and boarded the 821 like usual.
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_00]: We rode the usual route and arrived at our stop.
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_00]: We disembarked and made our way to the convenience store.
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: We picked up our usual items for the day and left for the school that we worked
[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_00]: at.
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_00]: We walked down Senkoko Road and crossed over Iwata River.
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_00]: We would always make small chit chat on the way and at no point did we notice
[00:03:21] [SPEAKER_00]: anything unusual.
[00:03:22] [SPEAKER_00]: And a short time later, we arrived at our school.
[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_00]: We came upstairs like nothing was out of the ordinary and we greeted our Japanese
[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_00]: co-teachers.
[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Morning, we each said, and I remember one of them looking up at me from the office
[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_00]: and saying, you're late.
[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_00]: My co-worker and I were confused what she was talking about, and so we were
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: casually coming in and going to put our lunches in the staff refrigerator when our
[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_00]: boss came around the corner.
[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Where have you two been?
[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It's almost 10 and the kids will be here any minute.
[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Again, we were really just unsure of what was happening.
[00:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: My first thought was that they were pranking us.
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I walked around the corner and into the office to look at the clock and it said
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_00]: 945.
[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I stepped into the adjacent classroom and it said 945 as well.
[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I remember heading upstairs to the third floor to get my work shirt on just feeling
[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_00]: so confused and honestly a little bit excited about this whole thing.
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_00]: My co-worker was up there with me and I tried to talk with him a little bit and just kept
[00:04:20] [SPEAKER_00]: getting a lot of, I don't know man, and that's really weird.
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: He really didn't want to discuss it.
[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it kind of freaked him out.
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Our boss was a bit angry with us and didn't really buy or understand our story.
[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_00]: We still were able to work that day and everything went off just fine without any
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_00]: further issues or concerns.
[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_00]: We didn't get docked on our paychecks or anything because that was our first and
[00:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: only time either of us had been late.
[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_00]: There are a couple more odds and ends to this story which makes it interesting.
[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_00]: One thing to note about Japan is that it is one of the most punctual countries in
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_00]: the world.
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_00]: The trains and buses leave exactly on time with no room for error.
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_00]: You can set your watch by it.
[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, if a train is late you can actually stop by the station's master's
[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_00]: kiosk as you exit the train.
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_00]: He will give you a little ticket that basically apologizes for you being late
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_00]: due to the train being slow.
[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Some people think that it could have been some sort of seizure.
[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I am epileptic and take medicine to manage my condition, but at that time I had been
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_00]: seizure free for years.
[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Additionally there were two of us and my co-worker was not epileptic.
[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Plus we had left the station at exactly 8.21 and it is highly unlikely that it
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: would have happened on a bus full of people.
[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_00]: The next strange thing is that I would usually do a time check when at the convenience
[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_00]: store to make sure that we had enough time for the walk.
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't recall exactly what time we left the convenience store that day, but my best
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: estimate would have been around 8.40.
[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_00]: This leaves the job taking place after leaving the convenience store and before arriving
[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_00]: at work.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Also Japan does not observe daylight savings time.
[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Oddly enough this issue went pretty much forgotten about shortly after this.
[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Nobody discussed it or talked about it.
[00:06:04] [SPEAKER_00]: It just disappeared, much like the lost hour.
[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have any explanation or even opinions regarding this.
[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_00]: It is something which is impossible to quantify.
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_00]: The thing that I have learned from this is that there are a great number of forces
[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_00]: at play in the world, just beyond the range of our perceptual understanding.
[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Some of these are good, others bad, and some are just mischievous when they cause
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_00]: you to be late for work.
[00:06:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I would love to learn the answer for what really happened during the lost hour,
[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_00]: but I am also at peace with knowing that as a result of this experience, I have been
[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_00]: fortunate enough to have the veil lifted for the briefest of moments and to have
[00:06:43] [SPEAKER_00]: stepped through something that few people even know exists.
[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Keep up the outstanding work, Adam.
[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next story of the night comes to us from Charlotte, and Charlotte's story is
[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_00]: called Weegee Board Experience and Death Anniversary.
[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Charlotte says,
[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey Nick, I live in Auckland, New Zealand.
[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I love your podcast and have been listening to your podcast for two years now.
[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_00]: My mother gave me permission to tell her two scariest experiences.
[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_00]: The first experience occurred when my mother was a teenager.
[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Herself and a group of friends were playing with the Weegee Board one night.
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_00]: In the beginning, her friends were talking to their lost relatives.
[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Then they decided to try to contact a young girl who was announced missing recently
[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_00]: in the news.
[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Her name was Natasha.
[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_00]: They collectively asked Natasha to come forward, and sure enough she did.
[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_00]: The group then asked her where she was.
[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_00]: She replied that she was in water.
[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_00]: They were all shocked that the missing girl was dead and that they were speaking
[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_00]: to her.
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_00]: My mother and her friends then decided that they were done playing, and as they
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_00]: were about to say goodbye, the planchette started to spin in circles quickly.
[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_00]: It then flung across the room, hit the wall and smashed into pieces.
[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Fast forward one week, the news reported that they had found Natasha's body in a
[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_00]: nearby river.
[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_00]: My mother never touched another Weegee Board again.
[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_00]: The second experience happened only four years ago.
[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_00]: My family and I traveled to Wellington, and while we were down there,
[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_00]: we decided to visit a shopping center called Kirk Caldy and Staines.
[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_00]: We took the elevator to the top, and as we went to leave the shopping
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_00]: center, we had to go down their grand staircase with over 50 steps.
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_00]: My mother totally freaked out.
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_00]: She screamed and grabbed my arm.
[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think much of it until we got home.
[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I asked her what had happened once we were all alone, and she said that for
[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_00]: a couple of months, every time she would go down a flight of stairs,
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_00]: she would get a terrifying feeling, like she was going to fall down them.
[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Eventually, she got so terrified that she visited a psychic, and the
[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_00]: psychic told her that she was experiencing the anniversary of her death.
[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_00]: My mother had died in a past life by falling or being pushed down a flight of stairs.
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_00]: She finally stopped having those feelings a few weeks later.
[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much for reading my story.
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I would like to know if any of your listeners have experienced something similar.
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I would love for them to get in contact with me if they have.
[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Keep up the amazing work.
[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Charlotte.
[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next story comes to us from Joanna, and Joanna's story is called
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Man Behind the Curtain.
[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Joanna says,
[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Hello Nick.
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm from Portugal and I love your podcast since I discovered it.
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I love paranormal stories so I decided to share mine.
[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Keep up the good work.
[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I've been experiencing sleep paralysis since I was 17.
[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_00]: It's always scary since I can't move and I usually see shadows,
[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: which is weird because most of the time it's pitch black.
[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_00]: But last year when we were in quarantine,
[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I had the most terrifying experience of my life.
[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I sleep on the side of the bed that's next to our window.
[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I woke up one night and I couldn't move.
[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't hear my husband playing PS4 next to me,
[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_00]: and I just thought,
[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh no, it's sleep paralysis.
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_00]: When I looked to my left to the side of the window with a curtain,
[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I saw a silhouette of a tall man all in black peeking behind the curtain.
[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I could see the hand, straight, long, black sharp fingers holding the curtain
[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_00]: and glowing eyes.
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I was so scared, I tried to scream and I tried to move.
[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I looked at my husband and finally closed my eyes in frustration.
[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I felt tears rolling down my face.
[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And when I opened my eyes again,
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_00]: the man wasn't behind the curtain anymore.
[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_00]: He was close to my side of the bed
[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and his fingers were pointing at me, almost touching my chest.
[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I closed my eyes again and I tried to move my feet
[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_00]: and I finally moved my arms and opened my eyes.
[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And I screamed and cried.
[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_00]: My husband was worried, but I couldn't tell him what had happened
[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_00]: for like 30 minutes because I was panicking.
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I slept with the lights on for the rest of that week.
[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next story of the night comes to us from Tara.
[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And Tara says, Hi Nick,
[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I've been listening to your show for a long time now
[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_00]: and have debated writing in.
[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I have several stories,
[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_00]: but I figured that I would start with this one.
[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_00]: This might be long, so I apologize in advance.
[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_00]: My mom passed away in late 2008 of a brain tumor
[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and I was 22 at the time,
[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_00]: struggling with accepting how much her death affected me.
[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_00]: From about the ages of 14 to 19,
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_00]: our relationship was very strained because of my stepfather.
[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Without getting too much into detail,
[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_00]: he wasn't a good person
[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and he made my mom choose between me or the marriage.
[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_00]: So for those five years,
[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_00]: we didn't have a great relationship.
[00:11:48] [SPEAKER_00]: After we started to rebuild it,
[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_00]: my mom would start siding with me
[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_00]: whenever my stepdad and I got into arguments.
[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to start with this
[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: to provide some context to my story.
[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: My mom always put herself last.
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_00]: She bent over backwards to take care of others around her
[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_00]: and my stepdad was no exception, unfortunately.
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_00]: He barely worked
[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and my mom was the breadwinner their entire marriage.
[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_00]: There would be times when she'd struggle to pay bills.
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Meanwhile, I was affording my first vehicle
[00:12:17] [SPEAKER_00]: that my mom helped me get.
[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_00]: As long as I covered the car payment,
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_00]: insurance and gas,
[00:12:22] [SPEAKER_00]: my mom considered my responsibilities were met.
[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_00]: However, despite being in school full-time
[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and working two part-time jobs,
[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_00]: sometimes I couldn't afford the gas.
[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_00]: So despite her struggles,
[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_00]: she would help me out when I needed it.
[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_00]: She would throw me her debit card
[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_00]: and tell me to go fill my tank.
[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I would protest knowing she couldn't afford it,
[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_00]: but she would always say,
[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_00]: "'Don't worry about it.'"
[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_00]: This phrase is important to remember.
[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_00]: After my mom passed away and after the funeral,
[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I was an emotional zombie.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I would go through the motions of getting up every day,
[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_00]: going to work, coming home and going to bed.
[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I felt that that was all I could do at the time
[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_00]: because I felt numb.
[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_00]: It was made worse when my stepdad pulled another
[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_00]: pity me stunt
[00:13:05] [SPEAKER_00]: and I struggled with the idea
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_00]: of if I had some responsibility to him.
[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I debated doing some paranormal investigating
[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_00]: to see if I could contact my mom,
[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_00]: but at the last minute, I decided against it.
[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_00]: In my emotional state,
[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I knew that I wouldn't be able to deal
[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_00]: if anything else had been contacted.
[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I was in no state to handle any entities
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_00]: as my family has a few believers
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and we also feel the women in the family
[00:13:29] [SPEAKER_00]: seem to have some extra senses.
[00:13:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Finally, I decided if my mom is willing to and able,
[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_00]: she will contact me.
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_00]: That night, I had a dream
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_00]: where I went back in time and found my mom alive.
[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I spent the dream trying to tell her
[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_00]: that she was going to die
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and my mom wouldn't look at me.
[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_00]: She would put her hand up to me
[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_00]: like she was telling me to stop
[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_00]: and at one point, she turns to look at me and says,
[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_00]: from the way you're talking,
[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_00]: it sounds like it's already happened.
[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Baby, if that's how I go,
[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_00]: that's how I go.
[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_00]: After she said that,
[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I asked her if I could take a photo of us
[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_00]: and she agreed.
[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I leaned over her shoulder
[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_00]: and took a selfie of the two of us.
[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_00]: After I took the picture
[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and immediately before I woke up,
[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_00]: my mom told me,
[00:14:14] [SPEAKER_00]: don't worry about it.
[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_00]: When I recalled the dream later that day,
[00:14:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I knew that my mom had visited me.
[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for your show and all that you do.
[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Tara.
[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next story of the evening comes to us from Lydia
[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_00]: and Lydia's story is called
[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I Think My House Is Haunted.
[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Lydia says,
[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Hi Nick, thanks for the podcast.
[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I appreciate the respect you give in your storytelling
[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_00]: without going over the top.
[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a bit of a rambling storyteller
[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_00]: so I appreciate you bearing with me.
[00:14:49] [SPEAKER_00]: There's been quite a few I can't explain.
[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Growing up, I had a few encounters,
[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_00]: usually with shadow people,
[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_00]: but for the past couple of years,
[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_00]: my encounters slowly stopped.
[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I've always listened to and watched stories
[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_00]: with a healthy amount of skepticism.
[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_00]: When you hear hoofbeats,
[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_00]: think horses, not zebras, right?
[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_00]: That's changed over this past year.
[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I moved into this house in July.
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I cleansed it with blessed water
[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_00]: as I like to do a physical and spiritual cleansing
[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_00]: in any new home.
[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_00]: There's also a creepy basement.
[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Keep in mind, due to my job,
[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_00]: that I go almost daily into basements
[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_00]: and crawl spaces without hesitation.
[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_00]: It was built in the 40s
[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and according to the graffiti in the basement,
[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_00]: it's been rented out to college students
[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_00]: for over 30 years.
[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_00]: As for the experiences,
[00:15:37] [SPEAKER_00]: it started with the cats.
[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_00]: There's an attic turned into a loft
[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and there's just one corner
[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_00]: our two cats have been obsessed with.
[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll catch them sitting or laying completely still,
[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_00]: with their faces just inches
[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_00]: from where the walls meet the floor.
[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I used to laugh and check it out with them
[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_00]: only to find no bugs or sounds of rodents.
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I've never seen anything there actually,
[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_00]: even though we do get spiders
[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_00]: and carpenter ants from trees outside.
[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Next is my stuff going missing.
[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_00]: It's always stuff I use often.
[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_00]: At first, I thought it was my roommate
[00:16:10] [SPEAKER_00]: taking things like my hair gel
[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and not telling me,
[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_00]: or I just misplaced it.
[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_00]: But the weird thing is,
[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I would find these items days or weeks later
[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_00]: where I know I looked
[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and where I last used them.
[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Even things that my roommate wouldn't know that I use
[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_00]: or where a lot go missing and reappear.
[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Even the last few days,
[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_00]: stuff seems to move from where I last put it.
[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Next is a series of nightmares
[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I was having through March.
[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't normally wake up from nightmares
[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and when I do have nightmares,
[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_00]: it's one I've been really stressed.
[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Those nightmares also have a consistent theme
[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_00]: and imagery.
[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_00]: However, these new ones are all over the place
[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_00]: and I always woke up scared.
[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_00]: They ended after a very vivid dream
[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_00]: where I would encounter a large and furred,
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_00]: four-legged, demon-like shadowy being
[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_00]: complete with antlers and red eyes.
[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_00]: A few days after that,
[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I woke up with sleep paralysis
[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_00]: for the first time in almost 10 years.
[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_00]: There was deep growling at the end of my bed
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and my room was pitch black.
[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Since I had heard weird noises
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_00]: and seen things during sleep paralysis in the past,
[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I told myself that my asleep brain was tricking me
[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and my tiny dog was just snoring.
[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_00]: But I can't shake the feeling that something was there
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and it didn't sound like Buddy snoring at all.
[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_00]: But what really shook me was a few weeks ago
[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_00]: when I woke up around 2am
[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_00]: to what sounded like a small child crying,
[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of like a kid being over dramatic when hurt.
[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_00]: It sounded like it was next to me in bed
[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and it also woke my cat up who was looking around.
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_00]: The street lamp didn't show anything
[00:17:44] [SPEAKER_00]: outside my window near my bed
[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and my neighbors don't have kids.
[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I went outside to try to find the source
[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and when I came inside, my cat was acting spooked.
[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't sleep well after that
[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and my cat did not want to stay in my room.
[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Lastly, a few days after my roommate moved out
[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_00]: last week, at about midnight,
[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I heard what sounded like someone trying
[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_00]: to open my basement door.
[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_00]: There's no way an animal big enough could have gotten in
[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_00]: or my cat would have found it
[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_00]: as he sneaks down there when I do laundry and he's naughty.
[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Both my dog and cat heard it
[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_00]: but neither of them would go into the kitchen
[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_00]: where the door is.
[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Keep in mind that my dog is the friendly type
[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_00]: that will greet whoever is at any door with tail wagging,
[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_00]: hoping for pets.
[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And my cat is the type who is curious and pretty fearless.
[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_00]: The shadow beings have been creeping
[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_00]: into my peripherals as well, but only when I'm home.
[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I only have a couple of months left here
[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_00]: so I'll leave the entities be.
[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't feel particularly creeped out
[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_00]: so I don't want to risk upsetting whatever is here.
[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I hope you and the rest of your listeners are well.
[00:18:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Lydia.
[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next listener story comes to us from Nick
[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_00]: and Nick's story is called Hat Man.
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Nick says,
[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Hi Nick, I listen to the podcast regularly
[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_00]: and often lament,
[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_00]: why hasn't anything like that ever happened to me?
[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But then I realized that it has.
[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that I may have suppressed or tried to dismiss it
[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_00]: with all that has happened since.
[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_00]: I used to live in Melbourne, Australia
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_00]: with my wife and her kids.
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Initially we were happy
[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and we both worked in the same occupation.
[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_00]: However, after a few years, we began looking
[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_00]: at transferring to another city to get a fresh start.
[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And while the kids were still young enough
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_00]: not to affect their schooling.
[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Eventually we decided on moving to Brisbane.
[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone was excited
[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_00]: and we all looked forward to the move.
[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_00]: We found a small two story house to rent
[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and our things arrived soon after.
[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Everything seemed okay.
[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_00]: The kids loved their new school
[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_00]: and my wife and I started training at our new location.
[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_00]: But after a few months,
[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I was struggling with the new job that I'd been offered.
[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_00]: And it was suggested that I return to my old role
[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_00]: but still in Brisbane.
[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't very happy
[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_00]: and again started questioning why I was doing all of this.
[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone else seemed happy
[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_00]: but I was just going to be doing the same old thing
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_00]: just in a different location.
[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I started to have trouble sleeping
[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and I began making stupid decisions as I was stressed.
[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_00]: One evening I got up late at night
[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_00]: as I couldn't sleep
[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and I went downstairs to get a drink.
[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I wandered around a bit to try to relax
[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_00]: and went to the back of the house.
[00:20:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I looked out the window
[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_00]: and could see down into the neighbor's back room
[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_00]: which looked like a living area.
[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_00]: It was lit and I could see quite clearly into the room.
[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I then suddenly realized
[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_00]: that I could see a black figure in a hat
[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_00]: facing towards me near the edge of the neighbor's window.
[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I did a double take,
[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_00]: closed my eyes and looked again.
[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And sure enough, it was still there.
[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I freaked out a bit and quickly moved out of sight.
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_00]: This is stupid, I said to myself.
[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I walked further across the room
[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_00]: to the back sliding glass door
[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and peeked around the edge.
[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I could still see it
[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_00]: and I was sure it was still looking directly at me
[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_00]: although how it could have known where I had gone
[00:21:02] [SPEAKER_00]: is anyone's guess.
[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I quickly shut the blinds and hurried back upstairs
[00:21:06] [SPEAKER_00]: avoiding looking out any other windows.
[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I must've eventually fallen asleep
[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and kinda forgot about the incident
[00:21:12] [SPEAKER_00]: but things in my life soon went from bad
[00:21:15] [SPEAKER_00]: to a lot, lot worse.
[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_00]: One of the bad decisions I made
[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_00]: ended up costing me my job, marriage and family.
[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I still haven't recovered and it's been four years.
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I've read that the black hat man
[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_00]: can be a portent of evil or bad things to come.
[00:21:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Only later after all these things have occurred
[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_00]: did I make the connection and realize that in my case,
[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_00]: that's exactly what happened.
[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_00]: A few months ago I went to a psychic expo
[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and decided I would have a reading
[00:21:43] [SPEAKER_00]: as I've never done it before.
[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I ended up choosing a clair sentient
[00:21:47] [SPEAKER_00]: that I was drawn to.
[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_00]: We talked for around 20 minutes
[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and one of the things she said
[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_00]: was that I had two entities attached to me.
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_00]: One was female and one was male
[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_00]: which she said was quite unusual.
[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_00]: But the male did not have my best interests at heart
[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_00]: and she suggested that I get my house smudged
[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_00]: to be rid of it.
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_00]: So is the black hat entity still with me?
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Who knows, I haven't seen anything
[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_00]: since the first encounter
[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_00]: but I also haven't gotten back
[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_00]: to my normal self yet either.
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_00]: Take care and thanks for reading my encounter.
[00:22:21] [SPEAKER_00]: All the best, Nick.
[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next story of the night comes to us from Charles
[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and Charles says,
[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I've never had any ghost stories before
[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and never really believed many of the ones
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_00]: that I've heard.
[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_00]: But this is mine.
[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_00]: My wife joined the Navy
[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and was stationed in Meridian, Mississippi.
[00:22:43] [SPEAKER_00]: When I went to visit her,
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I found out that the famous country singer,
[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Jimmy Rogers was from there.
[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_00]: So we decided to visit his museum.
[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not much on visiting graveyards
[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_00]: so we skipped that part.
[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't own any of his music
[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_00]: so I bought a CD there
[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_00]: and was listening to it the whole time
[00:22:59] [SPEAKER_00]: that I was in town.
[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Since she was new there
[00:23:01] [SPEAKER_00]: and I've never been there,
[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_00]: we relied on one of the older models of GPS
[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_00]: to get around as this was before smartphones.
[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_00]: We found a Waffle House to eat at
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_00]: so I saved the location.
[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_00]: A few days later,
[00:23:13] [SPEAKER_00]: we wanted to go back to the same Waffle House
[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_00]: and since I didn't know how to get there,
[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_00]: we used the GPS.
[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, I didn't recognize where we were going
[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_00]: but something didn't seem right
[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_00]: but I kept going.
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Finally, the GPS said that we had reached our destination
[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_00]: as we were pulling up to a graveyard.
[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought, that's strange
[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and then I looked to the right
[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_00]: and there was the sign.
[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_00]: The sign read,
[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_00]: this is the burial place of Jimmy Rogers
[00:23:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and it was right at the exact spot
[00:23:42] [SPEAKER_00]: that our GPS had stopped us
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and his grave was right there.
[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And yes, we were listening to his CD while driving
[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and yes, I left right away.
[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily a scary story but 100% true
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_00]: and since I don't really go to graveyards,
[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I know that I didn't accidentally type in the address
[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_00]: of said graveyard.
[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next story comes to us from Lynn
[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and Lynn's story is called,
[00:24:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Sleep Paralysis
[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_00]: and Lynn says this,
[00:24:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I've listened to only about 10 of your podcasts so far
[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_00]: but I'm hooked.
[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I can relate to a few of them already.
[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I've had several strange things happen to me
[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_00]: but the one that got my attention
[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_00]: was one of your first ones about sleep paralysis.
[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Here is my story.
[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I was probably 15 and I'm in my 50s now
[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_00]: so this was a long time ago.
[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I was asleep,
[00:24:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm assuming on my back because that's how I woke up.
[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I felt someone sit on the edge of my bed
[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_00]: and this is not the first time that it's ever happened
[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_00]: as I've felt that before.
[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It seems to me that I heard a whisper maybe.
[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what they said but I woke up.
[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I swear I was awake, wide awake.
[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_00]: My body was paralyzed and I was terrified.
[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I was trying to yell for my mom
[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_00]: but I couldn't get my voice to work.
[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Suddenly my arms raised upwards in front of me
[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_00]: like I was reaching for something
[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_00]: or maybe like someone was pulling me up.
[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't do it, they did it on their own.
[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I had no control over my body at all.
[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_00]: At that point I found my scream.
[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I was screaming for my mom
[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and she came and slept with me the rest of the night.
[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Most people would say it was just a bad dream
[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_00]: but I know that I wasn't dreaming.
[00:25:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Lynn.
[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_00]: As tonight's edition of Paranormal Mysteries
[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_00]: comes to a close,
[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to thank all of you for tuning in
[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_00]: and a special thank you goes out to Adam,
[00:25:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Charlotte, Joanna, Tara, Lydia, Nick, Charles
[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_00]: and Lynn for sharing their experiences.
[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you've encountered something
