[00:01:41] Jandy says, Dear Nic, I'm so glad you started this thread of weird forest stories. As always, I love listening to your podcast, and thank you for the platform and safe space to make our stories heard. The following story was recently told to me by my mother, who is 81.
[00:01:59] It took place in central southern Cuba, more than 70 years ago. My mom was born in Cuba and had some very interesting events happen to her father in 1945 while he was working in a logging camp alongside a dozen or more men.
[00:02:15] They were harvesting pine trees in the forest located in south central Cuba. The men would leave their homes and work for many weeks, and so they stayed at a camp close to where they were cutting down trees. The nearest town was Vertientes, a quiet and rural town.
[00:02:31] In that era, Cuba was a very safe place to live. This was many years prior to the Castro regime taking over. My mom told me that my grandfather was earning a good living logging, and he was able to
[00:02:43] buy some farmland near this town so that he could move his whole family there and continue working. Things were going great until suddenly one of the workers vanished during his shift. The other men noticed that he did not return to camp that night.
[00:02:58] The next day, he was still missing, so they began searching the woods and found nothing. At first, the other man thought that maybe the worker just quit because the work was too hard for him, or he just decided to leave without saying anything to anyone.
[00:03:12] But all of his belongings were stolen at the camp, and the only way back was by vehicle. A few days later, a second man went missing under the same circumstances. Upon searching the work site, there were no signs of a struggle, nor signs of an animal attack.
[00:03:28] There were no noises or screams when it happened. No blood or other signs of foul play. They just vanished. I should explain that there are no large predators like cougars or bear in Cuba. There were absolutely no signs of a struggle or foul play. Nothing.
[00:03:44] This continued to go on until a total of three workmen went missing without a trace. My grandfather was a quiet, hardworking man who never spoke much about what had happened in the woods. He resigned his position and quickly sold his farm without telling my grandmother his reasons,
[00:04:01] until many years later. The owner and the foreman of the logging company were forced to cease logging in that area since none of the remaining men wished to go back into the forest. They all resigned before more lives were lost.
[00:04:16] The authorities were unable to find the missing men, nor did they come up with any explanations. Oddly enough, my grandfather was blessed with a gift of healing in his later years. He knew what herbs and plants had healing or cleansing abilities.
[00:04:31] He never had any formal training, but he developed almost shaman-like abilities. He began healing people spiritually and physically, and this was something that he developed spontaneously. Well that's my story Nick. I hope your listeners enjoyed it. Thank you for all you do for this community.
[00:04:50] God bless you and keep you safe, always. Sincerely, Jandy Our next story of the night comes to us from Mouse, and Mouse's story is called Invisible Creature. Mouse says, Hello! I have been listening to your podcast for a bit.
[00:05:11] I have been living with paranormal experiences my entire 36 years of life. I have enough experiences of my own and stories of my family's that I could fill a novel. But I would like to share this one that sticks out the most, and this is all pre-cell phones.
[00:05:28] When I was nine, my two sisters and I were in the park. My oldest sister was learning to hit with a baseball, and my ten year old sister was learning to pitch, and I was just retrieving the ball.
[00:05:39] One time the ball was hit into a grove of trees, and I ran in to get it. I picked the ball up and looked around, and I saw an invisible shape. At first I thought it was a coyote.
[00:05:50] It slowly moved away and out of the trees, backing away from me. I can only explain the invisibility as looking like the Predator's invisible shield from the movie. It was that almost pixelated and see-through look, yet you can see the outline of what is there.
[00:06:07] It was either crouched down, or it was a four-legged being. My sisters then called for me, and I backed out and ran to them, and they immediately wanted to go home.
[00:06:17] I asked if they had seen what had gone out of the trees before me, but they said they saw nothing. But I found out years later that they had lied. They couldn't explain what it was, and they don't believe in the paranormal.
[00:06:29] But they did try to explain it to my mom that day. I'm thirty-six now, and never forgot about it. I still go there because I live five minutes walk from that park. I never saw it again, or anything like it. That was my strangest encounter.
[00:06:46] I love everyone else's encounters thus far, and stay safe. Thank you for your time, and as I've said, I have enough experiences to fill a novel. From ghosts to witches to UFOs. Scary to funny. Stay spooky. Mouse. Our next experience comes to us from Martine.
[00:07:09] And Martine's story is called, Odd Experience in the Woods. Martine says, Hello Nick, I hope you are doing well. I have listened to your podcast since last October when I was looking for something to listen to while working in a Halloween store.
[00:07:25] This story is short and is more like me looking for help to identify what I and my friend saw in the woods. I have a photo of it too if there is somewhere I can send it. Anyway, here is the experience.
[00:07:39] I and my friend regularly like to go exploring, and we usually do it late at night. On one of our explorations, we were in a very small town in Wisconsin, and we noticed there was a path into the woods that surrounded the town. So we went in.
[00:07:53] We walked pretty deep into it and eventually went off trail, which was probably not that smart. While we were looking for a way out in the pitch black with our flashlights, I noticed
[00:08:03] a weirdly shaped stone on the floor, and I pointed it out to my friend, and we went over to it. It appeared to be a rock, shaped exactly like a girl lying face up, with her arms out almost like the chalk outline of a dead body.
[00:08:17] But upon closer inspection, the thing definitely was not naturally occurring. It almost looked like poured cement because the hair was sculpted and the nipples on the breasts were also sculpted. It's better if I can show you guys the picture that I have of it.
[00:08:32] I tried looking up information about what it could be, like maybe a memorial for someone that had died there or something, but I haven't been able to find anything. Anyway, thanks for reading this.
[00:08:42] I hope you find it interesting, and you can use it for your In the Woods themed episodes so someone might know something about what it is. I have other stories as well that are weirder, including things with demons, ghosts, and doppelgangers. I will send these in the future.
[00:08:59] Thanks again for reading this, and for the community that you've built. Have a good rest of your day. Marteen. For anyone interested in seeing Marteen's picture, I will add it to our forum and there will be a link in the show notes.
[00:09:16] Our next story of the night comes to us from Foxy. And Foxy's story is called The Black Dog. Foxy says, Hi there! I recently found your podcast and love it. I've always been interested in the paranormal ever since an experience I had when I was
[00:09:33] eight, but I won't talk about that experience now. What I will talk about is the experience that I had when I was fourteen. I had forgotten about it until I saw what I had seen that night, again recently.
[00:09:46] My grandfather had always been superstitious, and some of that may have rubbed off on me. He used to joke that there was a chupacabra in the forest around where we lived, and I have to admit that if you were in the woods at night, it felt overbearingly oppressive
[00:10:00] and frightening, but I always thought it was just my imagination. Until that night. It was hot and our AC wasn't working, so I had a window open and a fan on. Some friends had come over to stay the night, and we were in my room.
[00:10:14] My friends were asleep, but I felt like something was watching me, and I couldn't sleep. Sitting there, drawing calm to myself, I heard a scream from the woods across the road from my house. I thought it was a panther.
[00:10:27] We had heard of one being seen in the area, and my parents always told me about how panthers can make a noise that sounded like a woman screaming. So I thought that's what it was.
[00:10:37] But that feeling worsened, and something drew my eyes to the open window and across the road. Standing there at the edge of the woods was a huge black shape. It was dark outside, but this thing was darker than the shadows around it. Its eyes glowing red.
[00:10:54] That was the only thing I could make out. Its piercing red eyes. We stared at each other before a truck rumbled past, and it was gone. And after that, the nightmares started.
[00:11:06] I would see my family being hurt or killed, and I'd wake up in a cold sweat, crying, shaking, and unable to breathe. They continued until I was 18, when I moved to another state to live with my boyfriend.
[00:11:18] Things slowly got back to normal, and that encounter faded from my memory, until a few nights ago. I had to take my dog out before we laid down for bed. I was standing outside my apartment complex, letting my dog do his business, when I heard that scream again.
[00:11:34] Suddenly that overwhelming feeling of being watched washed over me. I looked across the parking lot and froze, my dog pulling at his leash and barking. There stood the same creature I had seen that night all those years ago.
[00:11:47] It just stood there staring at me, but I got a better look at it. It looked like a black wolf except its eyes were glowing red. The city bus was running its final pass for the night and passed between me and the creature,
[00:12:00] and when the bus left and I could see again, the creature was gone. The nightmares have started again, and I find myself not wanting to sleep, but this time I'm not seeing people I care about being hurt or killed. This time it's me.
[00:12:15] I talked to a shaman from the tribe my mother descends from, and he told me about black dogs, and the description he gave was exactly what I saw that night. I don't go out at night anymore, fearing that I'll see it again, but there are nights when
[00:12:29] I hear that scream again, and it sends chills down my spine. Our next story of the night comes to us from Eric, and Eric's story is called Donner Pass. Eric says, I've never told this story but to a handful of very close friends, because frankly it
[00:12:50] sounds like a bad acid trip or something, but no drugs or drinking were involved. My buddy and I, I'll call him Red, were driving from Vegas down to a small town in California called Sonora.
[00:13:02] We went the back way, so it brought us close to Lake Tahoe, then over Donner Pass and down through several high-altitude campgrounds and then small towns before the pass ends in Sonora. It was just dusk when we passed the Unholy Spot, and then the campgrounds.
[00:13:19] Campfires were burning, and every street and forest service sign reflected brightly in our headlights. Then we passed the many small towns coming down the hill. We could plainly see house lights and street lights burning bright, as it was now almost fully dark.
[00:13:35] We got into Sonora at around 8pm, got some supplies for a night of camping, and headed back up the pass to those lively campgrounds. But as soon as we got out of town, the atmosphere was different. We could see no lights anywhere.
[00:13:49] The forest was like a wall of blackness on both sides of us, and we kept looking but could not find any of the turnoffs that go into all those small towns. Just nothing. Black, dark, nothing.
[00:14:02] We got to the campgrounds and they were gated and locked, and no camper vehicles or tents were visible, and no fires were burning. We started to freak out a bit. We turned around in a hurry and started back to Sonora.
[00:14:15] Then alongside of the roads every few miles, there were people, I think, in gray full-length hooded robes walking in straight lines along the side of the road. Then we noticed that the first person in line would lay down motionless on the ground,
[00:14:30] and the rest of the line would then continue on without them. We saw this several times. We finally found a forest service post where employees lived in a circle of trailers around a firehouse type of building.
[00:14:43] Here all the lights were on, TVs were flickering, but none of the doors we knocked on were answered. We then pulled off on a little side road that ended at another gate that led deep into the woods.
[00:14:55] We stopped freaking out and started to doze off as it had been a long day of driving. But as soon as we dozed off, our windshield was lit brightly by headlights that appeared to be from unmarked Ford Limited Crown Victorias speeding at us from several directions, and
[00:15:11] spotlighting us as well. We started the car as fast as we could and we peeled out of the little forest service village and back onto the highway. When we reached it, we immediately saw another line of robed figures.
[00:15:23] We didn't take a second look to see anyone lie down, and to our great surprise, we were not pursued by anyone, nor were there any headlights in the forest in that direction.
[00:15:33] We put the pedal down and went way too fast down that grade and around those turns, and then about 15 miles from Sonora, we started to see house lights from the many residents there, and our lights started to reflect off of street signs and guardrails again.
[00:15:48] Then we passed by the many off-roads leading to all those small communities that we previously could not find, and by the time we rolled back into Sonora, all was back to normal. We eventually pulled into a Walmart parking lot and slept there until morning.
[00:16:04] Red and I never spoke of it. I tried, but he would just shut the conversation down as if his brain would not allow him to approach the memory. So after many, many years of review and wondering if I had gone temporarily crazy, I have settled
[00:16:17] on the hypothesis of a dimensional slip of some kind. We were somewhere we weren't supposed to be, and seeing things we weren't meant to see. I think we may have been very close to being a missing 411 statistic.
[00:16:33] Thank you so much for your show, and allowing people like me to air to the world a story like this with as little judgment as possible. Have a great week. Our next story of the night comes to us from Leigh, and Leigh's story is called White Lady
[00:16:50] and the Swamp. Leigh says, Hey Nick, this is a story that my father told me, but he passed away a few years ago, so I will try to reconstruct the story from what I have been able to remember. And believe me, it's a memorable one.
[00:17:06] I will narrate from his perspective, so everyone will have a clear view of everything. This happened when I was a freshman in high school. I was maybe 15, but I remember it very clearly.
[00:17:19] I was one of the scouts in a small mountain town at the time, and taking advantage of that, the chaperones would often organize trips for us into the mountains. I loved the mountains. Life always seemed more beautiful there, and the close contact with nature made it even
[00:17:33] better, or maybe it was the reason for such an impression. Anyway, because of this I never missed an opportunity to go hiking, and one summer day we set off with the scouts for another adventure.
[00:17:45] We were accompanied by two chaperones and a guide who knew the area and led us along the forest paths. This was a few days after a massive windstorm that, as you might have guessed, had knocked down several trees, and some of them had fallen on the trail.
[00:18:00] So far, everything was going according to plan, until finally we came to a fork where we should have turned right, but it was impossible because of a collapsed big branch. The guide said that it had been a few years since he had walked the path turning left,
[00:18:13] so he, one chaperone and a couple of boys from the group would go to see if it was safe, and the rest would wait for them at the fork. So I stayed. We waited like that for about fifteen minutes and no one came back, until we finally saw
[00:18:27] someone heading our way. However, it was no one from our group. Indeed, this was not anyone you would expect to find in the high mountains, far from any mountain hut. We saw a woman with long dark hair in a white flowing dress down to her ankles, carrying
[00:18:43] a several month old baby in her arms. She told us not to go there because we would fall into a dangerous swamp, and that our friends could use some help. So we thanked the woman for the information, and without wondering what she was doing there
[00:18:56] with the baby, we ran to help the rest of the group. In fact, several people were stuck in the swamp, and there weren't enough of those untouched to help everyone. When we got the situation under control, we asked, hey was there a woman walking by?
[00:19:11] But they just looked at each other and said, no one else was walking that way. It seemed strange to me because there was only one road from the swamp to where we were waiting without any forks, and in addition there was no path behind the swamp.
[00:19:25] Besides, how would she know that they needed help if she didn't pass them by? For that moment however, I decided to ignore it and get busy getting back on trail. We returned to the subject of the mystery woman when everyone had recovered from nearly drowning in the swamp.
[00:19:40] The guide asked about her appearance, and we told him, this time in detail, what we had seen. He seemed unmoved until he heard about the baby in the woman's arms. Stunned, he told us there was a legend circulating in the area about a white lady who once drowned
[00:19:55] in the swamp with her child, and now walks around the mountains warning hikers of danger. As with paranormal stories, not everyone believed. For me however, it was the only possible option. Either way, whoever it is, some scouts owe their lives to her. Thanks for reading.
[00:20:14] I have a few more of my father's stories to tell, and I hope to do so soon. Be safe out there. Lay. Our next story of the night comes to us from James, and James' story is called Alien Bigfoot. James says, Hello!
[00:20:35] I recently discovered your podcast and thoroughly enjoy and relate to many of the stories shared, because I too have some stories to share, ones that I've personally experienced. I am currently a research analyst with the University of Minnesota Medical School.
[00:20:50] I have a Bachelor's of Science in Neuroscience and another in Psychology. These understandings of the universe are all good and serve a purpose, but I firmly believe the human nature of science is limiting, at times flawed by ego and desire to prove a
[00:21:05] point, sometimes at the expense of accurately portraying evidence in its most unobjective light. Being in a research position, I can see how it's possible how at times human bias can sneak into the science. That being said, I don't want to discredit any institution or science in general, but
[00:21:24] rather merely pose this caveat. Science is only as meaningful as the experience and intention of those who communicate it. I guess you could say that my day-to-day life is less paranormal and more rooted in
[00:21:36] the normality of man, but this does not fully capture in my mind the ultimate reality of our universe. I was also raised Catholic, but even with this diverse science and religion background, I know this is only a small picture of what the universe is in essence.
[00:21:53] So when the topic of the paranormal pops up, so many factors and contributions can be pulled from to describe it. The science, the psychology, the theology, and more interestingly, the factors yet to be fully explained. Or a step further, factors yet to be accepted.
[00:22:11] Sometimes the accepted reality does not match up with actuality. This being said, I'll start with my experience I had when I was about 11 or 12 years old. I was raised on a small hobby farm.
[00:22:24] My sister and my mother were painting by number a rendition of The Last Supper in the Kitchen when they asked me to take out the trash. The sun had already set. The twilight made most things visible, but those at the end of the horizon would fade
[00:22:38] into a gray darkness. In the center of our farm was a large telephone pole light that would illuminate the front of our yard. But beyond this, your eyes would need to adjust to the twilight as you would leave the safety of the light.
[00:22:52] You should know, out in the country, the trash was not simply a short walk down the driveway like it might be for your city listeners. Our trash was located about a tenth of a mile from the house to where our gravel driveway would meet the paved road.
[00:23:06] I remember skipping, talking to myself, somewhat lost in a giddy song as I walked with Pep, the bag of trash, in hand. When I had already dropped off the trash, I was still deep in my banter as I had begun my walk back.
[00:23:20] I was alone in the creeping darkness. As I approached the light from the yard pole, I could see past our old red barn the rolling hills of field corn and how the horizon would blend into the tree line of our woods.
[00:23:33] Harvest must have been in progress because a single path of corn behind the barn was already down maybe 150 feet away. It was here in which I noticed something. Something walking. Or, so I thought.
[00:23:46] I stopped whistling and stood in place, squinting to get a better look through the change in lighting. What I could then see as clear as day was a gray, furry two-legged creature walking upright with curled hands swinging with each stride.
[00:24:01] I thought it must have been an animal of some kind at first, but then I realized that there are no two-legged animals that stood about six feet tall in western Wisconsin. I stood puzzled, unafraid at first, but confused. I was immobilized by curiosity.
[00:24:17] When its head turned my way, however, I caught a green or yellow glare of its eyes. It was a combination of a deer in headlights or a snake hypnotizing its prey. It was looking directly at me.
[00:24:29] This eye contact may have only lasted a solid second, but something about it was unsettling. What actually began to scare me was the fact that after this eye contact, the creature's walk instantly turned to a sprint. It was fast, and it soon disappeared behind the barn.
[00:24:46] At this, terrified and perplexed, I ran for the door, and I feared that it might be circling around the barn to meet me. I didn't even take a step to the porch.
[00:24:56] In a single bound, I leaped up four steps, ran inside, shut the door, and locked it behind me, panting. My heavy breathing wasn't from the run, but rather the shaky, uncontrolled feeling I had at the sight of this creature.
[00:25:09] When I tried to explain the short series of events to my family, I had trouble finding the words. And when I did find the words, no one believed me. The next day I convinced my father to investigate the area with me, but of course we didn't
[00:25:22] find much, but perhaps a vague indentation in the dirt, which could have been a print or series of prints. It didn't help that my dad had bad eyes, but I know what I saw.
[00:25:33] To this day I remember it vividly, and in my mind it was some combination of typical depictions of Bigfoot or a furry alien. For the next year or so, I had other isolated experiences of fear, at times a feeling of
[00:25:48] the presence of something sinister, but this event truly stands out as something so visually obvious and unexplainable, I could not merely shake it off. I hope this first story is something relatable to your listeners. I have more stories to tell, but tonight I'll leave it there.
[00:26:05] I wonder though, have you or any other listeners ever experienced something similar? Was it a Bigfoot? An alien? Some combination? If so, I'd love to connect. Perhaps you could connect me to your listeners if they have had a similar sighting.
[00:26:20] I have other experiences and would love the chance to discuss. Thank you for the work that you do with this podcast. I hope to connect again. Your friend, James After sharing this encounter with me, James and I have been in contact several times,
[00:26:37] and he had additional thoughts regarding his first story. And he had this to say. Call it serendipity, but just now I listened to episode 106. At timestamp 1506, the story describes nearly exactly what I saw and shared with you prior. Reflective yellow eyes. Upright. Furry.
[00:26:57] In fact, the dog-like description is a great depiction as well. Perhaps it was a dogman sighting after all. But I hadn't known what to call it. I distinctly remember its hands curled back, and now that I think of it, it could have very well been long claws.
[00:27:13] I called it an alien Bigfoot in my story, but this story was strikingly similar to what this person described in their recounting. As we come to the end of tonight's edition of From the Forest, I appreciate all of you for tuning in.
[00:27:28] And a special thank you goes out to The Jandy, Mouse, Martine, Foxy, Eric, Leigh, and James for sharing their experiences. And with that in mind, our first listener's story comes to us from Hutch. And Hutch's story is called Haunted Houses and Premonitions. Hutch says,
[00:27:55] I'm fairly new to podcasts, and I went searching for something I could play to ease my mind and find something new besides the same old music that I listen to, and I love the work that you have done to share your listeners' stories.
[00:28:07] I have debated on writing in, but with every new experience, I can no longer keep myself from it. So here are two of my many, many experiences. The first is the last haunted house I lived in a few years ago.
[00:28:22] My husband and I decided that the little apartment we were living in was becoming a bit cramped, and a home suddenly fell into our path, and we felt like we just had to take it. We looked at the house and fell in love.
[00:28:34] It had a nice backyard, a workshop, a big front porch, and a garage. Compared to our apartment, it was the picture-perfect home to grow our little family in. Walking in felt different than outside, but not in a way that you would feel something was off or threatening.
[00:28:50] It was just a little heavier. I hardly even noticed, and maybe I just shook it off as my nerves. So we moved in, and the first few months were relatively uneventful. Little things would seem a bit off at times, like the feeling of being watched, and making
[00:29:05] sure to turn on lights when going to the restroom in the middle of the night. Things like that. Until one day when I came home from work, and my husband told me that something weird had happened.
[00:29:16] He had been alone in the house with my two boys, his step-sons, and he heard our back door being opened and slammed shut, and he told them that they need to let him know if they are going to go outside, and to close the door too.
[00:29:28] He stood up from the chair and went in our den, which was connected to the room with the back door, and saw the door open, and the door to the workshop was also swinging open with the light on. This happened several times while we lived there.
[00:29:41] For some reason, after a few months we decided to start watching a show about hauntings and spirit experiences, etc., and that's when things heated up. In the middle of the night we began hearing light footsteps in the hallway outside our
[00:29:54] door in the middle of the night, and around the same time, our cats would start whining in different parts of the house, and then start growling like they often do when they feel threatened or cornered.
[00:30:05] This was enough to start freaking us out, so we stopped watching the paranormal shows, thinking that freaking ourselves out was causing something to pick up on our energy, and become stronger, which backfired, and in fact, things got stranger.
[00:30:19] One day my husband and I were laying in bed watching TV, just being lazy, as I was several months pregnant, and exhausted. He had a bowl of tortilla chips or something on his chest, and had picked one up to eat,
[00:30:31] and a chip flew from the bowl and hit him on the face. I only saw it out of my peripheral vision, but I giggled even though it was freaky. Another time, again in the middle of the day, much later in my pregnancy, we decided to
[00:30:43] lay down for a midday nap. Across from our bed was a large walk-through closet that for some reason made me feel weird when it was open. I again asked my husband if we should close it before we fell asleep, and we decided that
[00:30:56] it would be fine if we just went to sleep. When we woke up, the closet was closed and the light was on, when I specifically remember it creeping me out before we went to sleep.
[00:31:06] We didn't hear the footsteps every night, but one night, we heard it, and it was louder than before. It stopped, and then we heard our doorknob move. Just a shake, no turning or jiggling like it had been hit. We no longer felt comfortable in the house.
[00:31:21] There were strange bangs, doors closing, the linen closet on my side of the bed being left open, and lights being on when they weren't supposed to be. We got so uncomfortable going to bed and wanting to keep whatever it was out of our room that
[00:31:34] we put salt across the threshold of our bedroom door. Then a few weeks later, our son was born. But what happened next made us get out and take the first step that we could to leave.
[00:31:46] Our son was put down in his crib to sleep in our room during the day, with the door open so we could hear if he woke up. My husband came home for his lunch break, and I was just doing things around the house
[00:31:57] since I had a few minutes away from our newborn to do housework. We were in the den talking or something when he started crying. We started walking to check on him when we saw and heard the bedroom light click off and the door slam shut.
[00:32:11] We couldn't take it anymore, and we decided to move. The longer we lived in that house, the more it felt like no matter where you went, someone was there watching you. My older boys didn't tell us until after we moved that they could see someone watching
[00:32:25] them in the dark in their room. It became heavier and heavier, and to this day even with other hauntings or experiences before, nothing made us feel the way that that house did. And since we moved, nothing has happened. No bad energy.
[00:32:41] I'm glad that whatever it was is stuck at that house. The next thing I'd like to tell is much different, but it's about a sort of gift or curse that my mother and I share. Except she dreams it, and I feel it.
[00:32:56] We know when something bad is about to happen. Something really bad. My mother has told me that several times in her life, she has dreamt that someone who has died would be in her dreams waving and seemingly waiting for someone.
[00:33:10] Before my grandpa died in 2005, she dreamt of my grandpa Pete, his father, waiting. Not long after she had the dream, we got the phone call early one morning. My grandpa was gone. I myself had a sort of auto accident that caused some severe internal injuries in 2011.
[00:33:29] She told me after that she had seen her boyfriend from high school in a dream who died in a car accident from the same injuries that happened to me, but that I lived through, fortunately.
[00:33:39] I myself have always felt things when friends were going to break up in high school. When something drastic was going to happen. But it's the deaths that freak me out. When my grandpa died, the day before we had a wonderful day. He was unfortunately a bad drunk.
[00:33:55] Not violent, but he just kept to himself, so we never really knew him as a person. We had a barbecue and just enjoyed our time together as a family. But I knew the day felt too happy, and that something was weird, and when I woke up for
[00:34:07] school the next day, I knew we were going to get the call, and we did. Instead of going to school, we went back to my grandma's house, and did the normal death thing. Same thing with my ex-husband's father.
[00:34:20] It was another wonderful day, a little too good, but something felt wrong after we left. A few days later, we were woken up by a phone call from my ex's uncle in the middle of
[00:34:30] the night, saying that he had seen a wrecked motorcycle and a med flight leaving the scene. I knew it was him, but my ex didn't want to believe it. We said goodbye that day. The last time I felt it was the night before my estranged father died.
[00:34:45] The night before my husband and I were going to Kentucky to see the eclipse of 2017, something felt wrong. I sat on his lap and told him, something is going to happen tomorrow. I don't know what, but something. I can feel it. And I don't mean the eclipse.
[00:35:00] And I just kept feeling it. The next morning we were out the door at about 5am, and by 8.30 we got the call that my father had died. I've not felt anything like that in a few years, but I've not lost anyone close to me
[00:35:13] in several years, and believe me, I don't want to feel it ever again. I hope even though these stories are long you'll be able to share them, and I would love to share more. Thank you for your wonderful podcast, and I will always be a loyal listener.
[00:35:28] Keep up your amazing work. Hutch Our next story of the night comes to us from Kayla, and Kayla's story is called, My Real Life Doppelganger. Kayla says, I'm semi-new to your podcast, but I have been binge listening ever since.
[00:35:47] I go back and forth to a few different podcasts, but I originally found them because I was looking up answers to what was currently happening. I'm going to try to give you a short version, because it's over a span of almost two years with multiple experiences.
[00:36:01] I have two little boys and I was in a toxic relationship with their father, and I had to get out. I moved myself and my two little boys in with my sister, her husband, and their three children.
[00:36:12] It was a dark time for me and my boys, and I had dealt with a lot of abuse from their father, and they saw most of it. One night my sister woke up to noises coming from the kitchen, and when she got up, she saw me from behind.
[00:36:27] She asked, what are you doing? And just then she realized that it wasn't me, although it was my body, my hair type, everything about me except for my face. The face had no features and was long and thin, and it started swaying back and forth, almost
[00:36:42] in a taunting way. She screamed and ran back to bed and woke her husband up. He refused to believe her as he is a hardcore skeptic. Then two nights later, she and my mother started saging the house.
[00:36:55] When I got home, I asked what was going on, and they sat me down and explained to me what my sister had seen. I couldn't believe her, and I almost didn't at first. However, my sister is not one to make something up.
[00:37:06] I was so scared I felt like I was living in a real-life horror film. Three nights later, I had to do an overnight for work, and my sister was watching the boys, which I should mention their ages were 11 months old and 4 years old.
[00:37:20] My brother-in-law woke up to footsteps in the night, so he got up, opened his bedroom door and instantly saw me run past the door with my baby. Knowing that I wasn't there that night and confused, he ran after me to find that whatever
[00:37:34] it was was running out the front door and into the night with my baby. He ran outside to find nothing and quickly woke up my sister, and they ran downstairs to my baby's room, and he was fast asleep in his crib. He finally believed my sister.
[00:37:49] At this point, I was freaked out. My family did prayers, sage, and I bought crosses. I was so scared that I felt like I was being watched 24-7, and my family and I started to refer to this thing as the spirit.
[00:38:03] About a month later, my sister was reading her son a book on his bed when out of nowhere they heard loud footsteps from the hallway, and when they looked up, they saw the spirit appear in the doorframe, and it literally jumped onto their bed, only to disappear in
[00:38:17] midair. My little nephew was screaming and crying, saying, Was that Kayla? What was that? I was so concerned that I was causing this in my sister's house that I moved myself and my boys out of the house and back in with their father.
[00:38:31] Two months later, my sister wanted a fresh start, so they bought another house. The last night of being in their house, my sister said that she had a feeling that she would see the spirit one last time. And she did.
[00:38:44] As she was sleeping, she woke up to the loudest scream in her ear, saying, No. And she opens her eyes to find nothing there. She said that her ear hurt so bad from the loud scream.
[00:38:55] I had never seen the spirit at this point, and I was moved back in with my children's father, and the toxic lifestyle was worse than ever. The first time I ever saw the spirit was about a month later.
[00:39:06] In the middle of the night, I woke up to find it watching me as I slept. It had no face, but it was my body and my hair, but the clothes were just layered rags. It was the weirdest thing. I instantly cried out to my boyfriend and said,
[00:39:19] It's here! The ghost is watching me! And in his sleep he said, Shhh. You're okay. Go back to sleep. Which I did. And now, thinking back, I find it so weird that I was able to.
[00:39:32] After that, it was about a year until the next time it showed itself. And by that point, I had gotten my life together for the most part. Because I had moved in with my mother, and the boys and my quality of life was so much better.
[00:39:44] Things were starting to finally look up, and we were all pretty happy. One day my mother was in her room getting dressed, and I was in my room, and I heard her scream.
[00:39:54] I ran to her instantly asking what was wrong, although I already knew the answer in my head. She said, Why did you just peek around the door like that? I said, What are you talking about? I was in my room. I did not peek in here.
[00:40:06] And she said, I saw your head peek around the door frame sideways as if you were lying on the ground, but it was about five feet up. All I could think to do was yell out, You are not welcome in this house.
[00:40:17] In the name of Jesus Christ, leave this house. I felt silly, but I was not going to allow this spirit to come back again. That was the last time anyone in my family has seen it.
[00:40:29] I realize now it's more so called a doppelganger, after looking up anything that resembles it and searching for answers. This was a year ago, and life is great now, and I'm not even worried about seeing it anymore.
[00:40:41] I know this was a lengthy story, so I thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope to write again soon with some more of my childhood stories, but I needed to get this one off of my chest.
[00:40:51] So thank you for giving myself and others a platform to do so. Our next story of the night comes to us from Travis, and Travis's story is called, Sparkling Materialization. Travis says, Hello to you, good sir.
[00:41:09] I love the podcast and how it gives me chills while I'm working and further pushes my knowledge of the unknown. Throughout my childhood I have had several spiritual encounters. The worst of all I feel is a mix of a dream and reality, although that story can come later.
[00:41:23] I am sharing this story currently because I still have no idea how or what actually happened, and I assure you I was wide awake. When I was a baby, my parents had divorced, and me and my two older sisters lived with my dad.
[00:41:36] Our house was a mobile home trailer in the middle of the woods, and my dad would often be at work for several days before quitting so that he could see us more often.
[00:41:45] I missed him terribly one night, and my soul seemed to hurt along with my physical self. I was in his room while my older sisters were out in the living room talking with our babysitter.
[00:41:55] I was tearing up a little while holding one of my dad's sweaters up to my face. I'm one of those weirdos that finds peace in familiar smells and textures. I noticed a shimmer out of the corner of my eye, and when I looked up, what I remember
[00:42:08] was some sort of glittery confetti that began forming a shape from the ground up. The shape formed into my father, and he looked at me with a warm smile. Hey bud, he spoke to me.
[00:42:20] I was so excited and so confused that I hugged him tight, and when I say that I hugged him, I mean he was a solid object that I could physically squeeze. I can't remember much after I let go, but I do remember him fading away and trying to
[00:42:33] convince everyone of what I saw. Naturally, no one believed me because I was always bringing up ghost stories and trying to scare my siblings. If anyone can tell me what that was, I would greatly appreciate the wisdom.
[00:42:46] Or if I may have just activated the DMT portion of my brain through sheer will to see my dad. You are a kind and wise soul, Nick. Keep your eyes always on the light, and may your path constantly protect you from the brothers of darkness.
[00:43:02] Talk to you soon, Travis. Our next story comes to us from Bea, and Bea says... Hi Nick. This happened when I was about 21 or 22. As I have told you before in my last letter, I come from a long line of witches, and what
[00:43:19] we experience is a whole lot different than what we see as normal. I never knew how in tune I was with the spiritual world, although I knew that I was different, until I had my first child.
[00:43:31] Out of my entire family, my youngest brother was my best friend, and we were and still are close. So close, sometimes it scares me. You see, my brother couldn't grasp his gift as I did, so he tried to do the unthinkable, and that is commit suicide.
[00:43:46] He had ventured off into the woods, and at this time I was 350 miles away working, and for no reason I just stopped in my tracks, and the reason was, I wasn't at work. I was following a man who was leading me somewhere.
[00:44:00] I didn't know where, but I knew it was important that I follow him. As we came to a clearing, I saw my brother on the ground leaning up against a stump. He had slid his wrist and was fading in and out.
[00:44:12] He couldn't see me, but he knew I was there. He whispered my name and said, Help me sis, I don't know why I've done this. I then woke up in the middle of my job screaming, and I ran as fast as I could, and got on the
[00:44:24] phone and I told my mom to call the police and tell them that my brother is bleeding to death in the woods, and I gave them directions over the phone. It's crazy because if it had been another minute later, he would have died.
[00:44:36] I don't know why, but I was really curious who the guide was. Who was this man with no face? Thanks again. B Our next story of the night comes to us from Rain, and Rain's story is called, Sharehouse. Rain says, Hi Nick. Long time listener. First time sharer.
[00:45:01] A couple of years ago when I was about 18, I moved into a share house with my now ex-boyfriend. The lady who owned it was never really around as she was always at her boyfriend's house.
[00:45:11] Soon after I moved in, the other young girl moved out due to disagreements with the owner, so my ex-boyfriend and I were all alone in this house. Regarding the layout, when you walked in the front door, off to the left was the dining
[00:45:23] room table, and right behind there was some stairs that would lead down to an office space, and down some more stairs there was this massive open room. This house was never finished being built, so you would open this sliding door into the
[00:45:35] massive room, and there would be a good 8-10 foot drop to the backyard. We live in southern Australia in the hills, and this house was clearly built in a valley. But anyway, every time you'd enter into this area it would be freezing cold compared to
[00:45:49] the rest of the house, and it just naturally gave off a weird vibe. After the first few weeks of living there, nothing really happened, but after settling in for a while, every night I would start to hear lots of bangs and doors slamming downstairs,
[00:46:02] but I just brushed it off as the unfinished house, or a window was left open or something like that. I just didn't really think about it, and I chose to never go down there unless it was daytime because it just gave off such an eerie vibe.
[00:46:15] Until one day when I had to move out, but I met the new tenant called Matt. We got along really well and ended up becoming friends, so we would still be around a couple times a week just hanging out.
[00:46:27] Then after about a week or two of Matt being there, we went over to hang out, and he told us that he was actually a clairvoyant who can feel and speak to spirits. He explained that there is an aggressive male spirit downstairs, and after he explained
[00:46:41] that, everything made sense. The banging, weird vibes, and the coldness. A couple days passed and we went back again, and Matt goes on to tell us that the other day he went downstairs to try and communicate with this male spirit, and he said that he
[00:46:54] was speaking out loud asking why he was there, and Matt said that he got this big rush of energy around him, and then this hot burning sensation around his neck. This male had committed suicide and was angry that people were living in his house.
[00:47:08] This later got confirmed by the lady who owned the house, who said that when she bought the house, the real estate agent had said that an old man had hung himself. I myself was a bit annoyed that we didn't get told this when we moved in.
[00:47:22] But that's not the end. I accepted what had happened, and we still went over to visit because I never went downstairs. A couple months went by, and some new international students from California moved in, and we became friends with them as well.
[00:47:35] One day we were all sitting at the dining room table chatting away, and I had my back facing the stairs. Then Matt comes in saying that he's going out for a bit, so we said goodbye, and he was off.
[00:47:46] About two to three minutes after Matt left, I heard the stairs creaking as if someone was walking up the stairs, and I got the worst feeling like someone was watching me.
[00:47:55] I felt so heavy and intimidated, but I just shut up and I felt like I couldn't say anything from feeling so scared by this. I remember just grabbing my stuff and then going home.
[00:48:06] We all eventually fell out of contact as people do as you grow up, but I will never forget these events and know that I lived in a house with a spirit who unfortunately had a sad ending. Thanks Nick for having a space for people to share their stories.
[00:48:21] Peace and love, Rain Our next story of the night comes to us from Dee, and Dee's story is called My Son's Story. Dee says, Hello Nick. I wanted to share my son's story.
[00:48:38] He was 22 at the time that he rented his father's second house, which was on a gravel road in the middle of nowhere. It was very dark and had no street lights.
[00:48:46] It was farmland and had a lot of open field around the house with cows etc., and had been that way for centuries. He loved it. At first. One night around 2am he was arriving home late after meeting up with some friends.
[00:49:00] He pulled into his driveway with the windows down in his truck and he heard loud giggling. He stopped, got out and said, Anyone there? He told me it sounded like small kids so he was concerned, but after looking around there was no one there.
[00:49:15] A few months later his dog started growling at the corners of the living room and there was nothing there, but his dog's hair would be standing up on his back. This happened a few times and my son would tell him to quit and his dog would back off
[00:49:28] and sit next to him. My son called me in a panic and told me that he kept seeing a dark figure in his peripheral vision. It was a tall dark figure in the house and he described it as a cowboy from the 1800s
[00:49:39] with a long leather coat and a cowboy hat. He couldn't make out any features, just that the figure was always dark and standing in the corner. He said that it felt evil and that it would then disappear.
[00:49:52] One night he said that he woke up in bed and couldn't move and something very heavy was sitting on his chest and he was having a hard time breathing. He was terrified. He then said, Jesus help me and then he could move.
[00:50:05] This happened a few times to him. My son would call me talking about how depressed he became and how he couldn't shake it. He was always a lighthearted person, but he started changing. It was that house.
[00:50:17] He bought some land, had a home built and after living in the evil house for years he has finally moved into a new home and he's doing great now. No depression and no dark entity. If you read my story, thank you.
[00:50:31] I have a few more stories that I'll save for another time. D As tonight's edition of Paranormal Mysteries comes to a close, I'd like to say thank you to all of you for tuning in and supporting the show.
[00:50:45] And a special thank you goes out to Hutch, Kayla, Travis, B, Rain, and D for sharing their experiences. And if you've encountered something that you can't explain, you can contact me through email, voice message, or on our website.
[00:51:02] And all of these links, of course, can be found in the show notes. Until next time, I hope you all have a safe and healthy rest of the week, and we'll see you back here on Friday as we uncover even more experiences involving paranormal mysteries.
