[00:00:03] On today's edition of From the Forest, I'll be talking about some very strange creatures, unexplained lights, UFO encounters, missing time, a skinwalker, and the Fort Boise Military Cemetery. Thank you for joining me and welcome to Paranormal Mysteries. I'm your host, Nic Ryan. I hope that

[00:00:39] you all had a great weekend, and before we start today's episode, I'd like to thank Amanda, Mark, Brian, Greet, and Tracy for their support and generosity. And for anyone else who would like

[00:01:12] gmail.com, through voice message at speakpipe.com slash paranormal mysteries, or on our website at paranormalmysteriespodcast.com. And of course, all of these links can be found in the show notes. And with that in mind, tonight's first encounter comes to us from Ren, and Ren's story is called

[00:01:36] Unexplained Event and Lost Time. Ren says, So I'd like to preface this as someone who isn't normally open to this stuff, and I can be quite skeptical, so I'm not going to say anything crazy happened, just something that myself and my sister cannot explain.

[00:01:56] Myself and my sister were in Anchor Point, Alaska. We had lived there for several years, and we used to walk to our friend's house that was a good mile and a half away, cutting through a local golf course and walking along mostly empty back roads in the summers.

[00:02:09] This particular day, we were heading home, following a path from her backyard that cut to a nearby road in the woods, and leading down a long road that we normally take by a large

[00:02:20] plantation for a greenhouse. As my sister and I walked up the hill, we grew agitated with each other, seemingly out of nowhere. We felt uneasy as we reached the peak of the hill, to where we

[00:02:31] could stare down the road by the plantation. And this was where we saw several entities that were doing something, a good 75 to 80 feet out. We both had this feeling that neither of us verbalized at

[00:02:43] the time of intense fear. The entities were very hard to make out, being far away they looked dark and vaguely human. We lived in an area with homeless people and people who were on drugs

[00:02:56] who would routinely bother us. We were very comfortable with these people, and although I don't know what or who was down there, we both had never been so afraid. Looking back, I remember

[00:03:07] thinking, that's not human. And we then turned left onto a street that crossed at the top of the hill, which we normally avoided taking home because it led right next to the highway, and it added a lot

[00:03:19] of time to our walks. As I turned up there, I had seen my sister not four feet ahead of me as she turned first, but when I came several feet down the road, I could not see her. I felt disoriented

[00:03:31] and afraid, and I sped up to a brisk walk, then a jog to get as much space between myself and whatever was behind us. As I came to the highway, I expected to see her walking down the straight stretch of

[00:03:43] road that was in front of us, as there was nothing to hide behind, and it was a clear shot of view. She was not there. Feeling rather duped, I thought maybe she had somehow ditched me or darted somewhere

[00:03:54] I couldn't think of to scare me. I then ran pretty far down, and when I felt more comfortable, I walked the half of a mile home. When I got home, I naturally expected that my sister was going to be

[00:04:06] there, and she wasn't. I contemplated going back, but figured that she would be home any minute, discouraged that I had raced past her before she could jump out and scare me or something.

[00:04:16] I was fuming at this time because I couldn't believe that she would just ditch me or try to prank me after what we had just seen. It took her 30 minutes to return home, and when she did,

[00:04:27] she immediately started cursing at me. How dare you effing leave me! I was looking for you because I thought something had happened. And to this, I was dumbfounded. After we calmed down, we compared what happened, both recounting multiple human-like entities that we couldn't recall the details of,

[00:04:44] her then rounding the corner and me disappearing, and the same happening to me. We also realized that we had left on a 25-minute walk, and I being the first to return, had lost two hours of time. And my

[00:04:57] sister being 30 minutes behind me, had lost even more. We couldn't wrap our heads around how the walk had taken so long, even with going by the highway, and as we had both run home for a lot of it.

[00:05:10] This is where more fear washed over us. I immediately remembered that my Samsung Galaxy S8 Active had a feature that recorded my walks and activity, and what we found when we checked it, was even more baffling than the mismatching stories. It recorded my path, speed, and duration.

[00:05:28] It showed me walking to the greenhouse, and then it recorded me going all the way out of the city limits in a straight line, which is impossible with the way the roads are set up. It had recorded

[00:05:38] a top speed of 25 miles per hour, with the app believing that I had been biking. The speed dipped and changed throughout the missing time. It then showed me returning to the point which I had started,

[00:05:51] and then running home. My sister and I had a newfound deep sense of dread. We have since talked about it numerous times, trying to think about what could have happened, and the best that we

[00:06:02] could come up with was that whatever we had seen had taken us for seeing them, and accidentally returned us out of order. We had never believed in anything like this before our encounter with

[00:06:13] the entities, but the man who sits in the local smoke shop who says that he's seen aliens in our areas suddenly doesn't seem as crazy to us as he previously did. Our next experience comes to us

[00:06:29] from Kaylin, and Kaylin's story is called UFO Experience in Northwest Arkansas. Kaylin says, Hi Nick, I've been listening to your show for the past few months and I have to say I absolutely love

[00:06:43] it. Thank you for giving us a safe place to speak about our experiences. I have a story that took place about five or six years ago in the backwoods of Northwest Arkansas, in my hometown. Growing up,

[00:06:56] I would spend weeks at a time at my aunt and uncle's farm, helping them with anything they needed. I also used to go hunting out on their property, which was about 400 acres or so.

[00:07:06] This particular experience happened at the beginning of rifle season for us, and I and my cousin, we'll call him L, decided to spend the night in a cabin on their property due to the

[00:07:16] fact that it was closer to our hunting spots than his house. My cousin and I are only a few months apart in age, and at this time we were about 17 years old. I was making food for us while L was

[00:07:30] getting the sleeping arrangements set up, and we both began to see bright colored lights out in the woods, and we originally thought it was the game warden, so we stepped outside. As we got

[00:07:40] onto the porch, we realized that the lights were coming from the back of the property and not from the main road. We ran back inside and grabbed our rifles and flashlights, and we went to investigate

[00:07:50] further. We thought the lights were fairly close until we realized that we had walked about 150 yards from the cabin, and we still had another 50 or so to go, and once we got less than 25 feet away

[00:08:03] from it, something strange happened. All I remember is a bright flash and a deafening boom. When I came to, L and I were both on our backs, and there was a burned triangle that was roughly 16 feet on all

[00:08:16] three sides. I had a cheap Pantech phone at this time, and I took as many pictures as I could, and L did the same on his smartphone. We then went back to the cabin and hunted the next morning.

[00:08:29] When we got back to L's house, we told his mom everything and even started showing her the photos we had taken, and as we did, all the photos began to be deleted from both L and I's phones

[00:08:39] simultaneously. For those who don't know what a Pantech is, you have to go through about three or four steps to delete one photo, and these photos were being deleted rapidly from the main screen.

[00:08:51] We decided to take her out to the spot where the burn mark was, but when we got there, the ground looked like it had been tilled up in a 100 foot square. We still don't know what exactly happened

[00:09:03] out there, and if anyone has any ideas about what it was, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time, Kaylin. Our next story comes to us from Katie, and Katie's story is called

[00:09:20] Strange Creature. Katie says, Hi Nick, I recently found your podcast and have been binge listening to catch up. I wanted to share something that I saw when I was a child. This happened around 20

[00:09:33] years ago. My family lived on a farm in the Youngstown, Ohio area. We raised several kinds of livestock, including cows, goats, and chickens, and we were all well versed in the local wildlife,

[00:09:45] which is important to note. It was dark, probably around 8.30 or 9 at night, and I was out at the barn helping my dad feed the animals. We were on our way back to the house when a slightly creepy

[00:09:56] feeling came over me. I brushed it off because my dad was with me and there was nothing to worry about as long as he was there, but then I noticed a car driving very slowly up the road. The house

[00:10:08] sat between a cornfield and the cow pasture, and the driveway we were walking along ran straight back from the road, past the house, into the barn. The car was approaching from the direction of the

[00:10:19] field, and as it came into view I saw a strange creature running along the road in front of it. It looked almost like a fox, but not quite, and it was running upright on two legs. It was around

[00:10:31] four feet tall and had a strange gait, and it didn't actually run so much as hop, but sideways almost, or at an angle. It took a second for my mind to register what I was seeing, and I almost

[00:10:43] dismissed it as a trick of the headlights, but my dad, who is very down-to-earth and almost impossible to startle, muttered, what the heck is that? And it was then that I knew that what I was seeing

[00:10:54] was real. We walked quickly back to the house and he never spoke of it again. I asked my mom about it once and she told me that it was just a fox running in the road, but no fox runs like that,

[00:11:07] and there's no way that a fox would have startled my dad. I've had other experiences with shadow people and demons, but this is the only strange occurrence that I have never been able to figure

[00:11:18] out. I thought maybe it was a dogman, but after hearing the eyewitness accounts here, I'm not sure that it was tall enough, and it did that weird hop instead of running like a human. If you or your

[00:11:31] listeners have any clues as to what I saw that night, I would love to hear them. I love your show, and keep the stories coming. Katie. Our next experience comes to us from Zyl, and Zyl's story is called

[00:11:50] Strange Lights. Zyl says, Hello Nick, thank you for creating this show. I truly appreciate listening to it while I unwind. My story reflects some that you've told on your channel, but I'll start with a little background. My grandmother is from Siberia. When we were growing up, she would

[00:12:09] tell us stories about fireballs in the fields near her childhood home, and she would always give us a very serious and darting look while recounting these tales. She definitely believes in the spirit

[00:12:20] world. My grandparents had a cabin in northern Ontario, and one evening when I was about 9 years old, my uncle, dad, two of my cousins, and I were sitting on the front porch. For reference, the

[00:12:32] cabin was in a valley in the woods. There was absolutely no city light, and it was dark and quite remote. We were hoping to see a shooting star, but hadn't had much luck. But the sky was,

[00:12:43] of course, very beautiful nonetheless. All of a sudden, a giant ball of light shoots from behind the house in circles a couple of times. This was a big light, the size of a beach ball, and it flew

[00:12:54] right in front of us at about 20 kilometers an hour. We all kind of stared at each other like, what in the world was that? In that moment, it felt like time had stopped, and the next thing I knew,

[00:13:06] I was in bed. That night, my parents slept on the couch, which was right next to the front door, and it was a heavy wooden door with a latch lock. I will add that it was a windless July night,

[00:13:18] hot but not sweltering. We then all woke up to a loud slam, and my dad gets up and yells, it's the door! I peeked out of the mezzanine on the second floor to see my dad getting up

[00:13:30] to close the swinging door, but the door slammed shut on its own. It was eerie, but I somehow fell asleep immediately after. The next morning, we all kind of sat at the breakfast table speculating

[00:13:41] about the happenings of the previous evening, and my grandmother later told me that they come to visit. I thought that that was a strange statement, but I didn't question it much. My father told me when

[00:13:53] I was older that there was a rumor that somewhere nearby there was an Iroquois burial ground. Thanks for reading my story, and I hope to hear it on the show. Our next story of the night comes to us from Clay, and Clay says,

[00:14:12] I've been listening to your podcast for a couple of days now. I listen to it when I'm at work, and it keeps me going. Anyway, I wanted to share one of my many experiences.

[00:14:22] I come from a small town in Kansas called Carbondale. My buddies and I were always obsessed with the paranormal and other creatures. We used to sneak out to the train tracks and scare ourselves. Mind you, we were teenagers. Well, everything we thought to be in our heads turned

[00:14:38] out to be true. We heard footsteps coming from the woods all the time, but we figured it was just an animal. Well, as time went by, we experienced more and more, and eventually it got to the point

[00:14:48] where I grew very curious as to what was lurking in the woods. So my buddy and I tracked it, hunted it, and did whatever we could to find out what was out there. We found nothing.

[00:15:00] Until one night. We were researching different paranormal stories and such when we stumbled upon skinwalkers. Everything that was said on the website described what we had experienced almost spot on, so we wanted to find out for sure. We did our research and then set out to find it,

[00:15:18] and as we were walking through the woods, I found a paw print that was bigger than my head. Nothing is that big in Kansas, so I took a picture of it for proof. Later that week,

[00:15:27] we set out again to find it, but all we heard was footsteps behind us. Months went by, and we found nothing. Then all of a sudden the sign started showing again, and we were determined to find this thing before it could do anything. Every night we went after

[00:15:43] it, and we always found nothing. As time went on, we started to give up, until one night when we heard a voice that sounded just like one of our friends, so we went to investigate.

[00:15:54] As we were walking into the area where we had heard the familiar voice, we saw a black cat. We thought nothing of it until it crossed our path again and again. Then I remembered that

[00:16:04] skinwalkers can shapeshift. We got excited and chased it. Later that night, we were trying to find the cat again, but we saw something else. It was truly terrifying. It was a pure white figure

[00:16:17] that was all skin and bone, looking right at us. Well, you're not supposed to look at them, so we ran. We ran for what felt like miles upon miles, and the thing stayed right behind us the whole

[00:16:27] time. We finally reached an open field, and we looked back to see that there was nothing there. Terrified and full of adrenaline, we went back to my house, and we haven't tried anything since.

[00:16:41] I hope you and especially the listeners enjoyed my story. I will have more coming in the future that I think you will find interesting, as I have had many experiences with the paranormal. Until next time.

[00:17:23] into full-on believers after just a couple minutes in this cemetery after midnight. Here is the most intense story that I have as an investigator. One night my brother and his friends were talking about ghosts, and they were all very skeptical

[00:17:37] that they exist. I butted into the conversation and asked them if they'd like to meet one, and they agreed. We made the drive down Reserve Street by the old Mountain Cove High School,

[00:17:48] and into the dark, hilled area of the cemetery. It was not my first time there. I came to the unlocked gate at the bottom of the left corner of the cemetery, and greeted the dead soldiers by

[00:17:58] saying, Hello boys, show them you're real, but please be nice. My friends laughed at me, but in about ten minutes, even I would be frightened by what was to happen. We walked around the small cemetery, and my friends became obnoxious. They were taunting and laughing and joking around,

[00:18:16] when suddenly, from a moonlit corner of the cemetery where no one was, and it had fallen silent, came a loud and profound, Hey! My friends instantly looked at each other with open mouths

[00:18:28] and panicked. They knew the loud shout had come from seemingly thin air, and they all ran back to the car, some of them screaming as they ran. I slowly walked back to the car to drive them back

[00:18:39] to our place, and I thanked the spirits aloud for showing my friends that they do really exist in our world. I closed the gate and turned around to walk to my car, where my friends were sitting

[00:18:49] cowardly. As I walked, I heard from the same corner as the shouting, a faint, You're welcome. I had never received a direct response from them, so I got a little scared, but I didn't run. I

[00:19:02] drove my brother and our friends back to our home, and they couldn't sleep for about a week after that. Even I was freaked out a little, and I still haven't gone back since that night, and that was

[00:19:13] in the mid-2010s. So, Katie is not alone in having experienced something at this cemetery. I'm a local, and it's known to the locals as the Devil's Hill, and for good reason. Thank you for your podcast,

[00:19:30] Connor. Our next experience of the night comes to us from Pablo, and Pablo's story is called Something in the Grass. Pablo says, Hi Nick, I am an Italian living in the States.

[00:19:47] I enjoy your podcast and I want to share with you my story. Thank you for your work. I work at night and at the end of my shift, I can't wait for the drive back home, listening to your podcast and

[00:19:58] the amazing stories. They make my drive at nights more exciting, so thank you for your work, for a place where people can tell a story with no judgments, and for all the listener experiences.

[00:20:10] My story takes place in the Italian Alps in a valley called Valsessia. This is the place where I grew up and where I lived the majority of my adult life before moving to the USA eight years

[00:20:21] ago. I always hiked, climbed, skied, and spent long periods of time alone living up in the cabin. I consider myself someone that knows very well that area and all the fauna that lives on those

[00:20:33] peaks, and this is why what happened to me that day is something that I will never forget, and still today, it is the only thing that I can't explain. I was in my mid-twenties, and it was a chilly beautiful afternoon. The winter was already

[00:20:49] knocking at the door, but the fall wasn't ready to give up yet. That day after work, I decided to go for a quick run on a beautiful little mountain called Montetucri, a place that

[00:20:59] already had a story of its own, and sadly it is a very violent one. In 1383, a 15-year-old girl named Panacea was spending the day watching the sheep on the slopes of that mountain. That evening, the stepmother, angry because she wasn't seeing the girl coming back,

[00:21:16] went in search of her on those trails, only to find her praying a little past the very old church of San Giovanni. In a state of full anger, the stepmother killed her, hitting the girl several

[00:21:27] times, and soon after realizing what she had done, she jumped into a ravine close by. After the death of young Panacea, due to several reasons, of which some of those became legends, she was beautified.

[00:21:42] Anyway, that afternoon I had just ran past the church that they erected where she was killed, and I was aiming for the summit. From there, the trail goes up steep in the middle of grass.

[00:21:53] I was right on that section when I saw something moving on my right. I stopped, intrigued to see what animal was there. The grass was as tall as my knees and pretty dry, and I was about three feet

[00:22:04] away from the movements, and trying to get even closer. Every time I made a step forward, that thing moved away from me at the same speed. It was not small. The grass was opening up with a lot of

[00:22:15] movement, as if it was something big. But I could not see it. I saw many animals in my life, and to spot something so big in that grass so open would have been something very easy to do, especially

[00:22:28] because I was able to see the ground underneath. I followed it, and yet this thing moved away from me with no fear, without running away, and without making a sound. I kept almost three feet of

[00:22:39] distance all the time, perhaps even less. After around 40 feet, that thing stopped right in front of me. I pinpointed the place, and I stepped forward, but there was nothing there. The grass

[00:22:52] was bent and flattened right where that thing had left, but I didn't see a thing. Not something flying away or something running away, and the grass was all around us. I grabbed my knife, thinking that I

[00:23:04] would find a hole, and I cut all the vegetation in a big circle, but there was no hole. Nothing, and the ground was already very hard because of the chilly days and very cold nights. Whatever it was,

[00:23:16] it disappeared in front of my eyes. Back home in those valleys and between those mountains, there are a lot of old stories about gnomes and people of the forest, and their ability to appear and

[00:23:28] disappear. They say that back in the days, they were part of life, showing up to people of simple hearts, but we changed, and they chose to hide away. I don't know what I saw that day, but I am

[00:23:42] certain that I saw something. From that afternoon, the story has always been the same, and I will never forget it. Thank you for reading my experience. Pablo. As we bring tonight's edition of From the

[00:23:58] Forest to an end, I appreciate all of you for tuning in, and a special thank you goes out to Ren, Kaylin, Katie, Zyl, Clay, Connor, and Pablo for sharing their experiences. And if you've had a

[00:24:13] paranormal encounter that occurred in or near the forest, please contact me through email, voice message, or on our website, and these links can be found in the show notes. Until next time,

[00:24:25] I hope you all have a great beginning to your week, as we continue our journey into the unexplained, right here on Paranormal Mysteries.
