[00:00:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for joining me, and welcome.
[00:00:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I am your host, Nick Ryan.
[00:00:13] [SPEAKER_00]: This episode is brought to you by my newest supporters Marlin, Moose Giggles, and Christy.
[00:00:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks to all of you for making the show possible.
[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Our first experience of the night comes to us from Megan, and Megan's experience is
[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_00]: called...
[00:00:44] [SPEAKER_00]: The Accidental Summoning.
[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Megan says,
[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_00]: First, I'd like to give a trigger warning that my story involves suicide.
[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_00]: On October 9th of 2019, my significant other, Sean, hung himself in our house.
[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_00]: My family and I continued to live in the house that he died in for the next four
[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_00]: years.
[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I have several stories about my relationship with Sean after he died, but tonight's
[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: This story comes from my best friend and current life mate, who from here on out will
[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_00]: be referred to as J-Dud.
[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_00]: This is J-Dud's experience.
[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Good afternoon.
[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_00]: At the insistence of my best friend, I would like to submit my story.
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_00]: In the summer of 2021, our family, which is a play on words as it was actually
[00:01:32] [SPEAKER_00]: a group of family and friends, were getting together for the first time since COVID quarantine
[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_00]: does.
[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_00]: We were going to help a friend choose which barbecue to submit to a community barbecue
[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_00]: contest.
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_00]: There were at least 15 of us who were beyond excited to meet up to try several variations
[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_00]: of barbecue, like shredded chicken and shredded pork, plus other cookout fare.
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: This was also the first time that we would all be getting together since our dear
[00:01:57] [SPEAKER_00]: friend Sean's passing.
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_00]: The day was beautiful, the weather was perfect, the food was delicious, and we
[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Well pitched in and brought a dish, and our friend Jason was throwing down on his smoker
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and grill.
[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_00]: The drinks were flowing.
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I had been drinking but nothing too crazy.
[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I am in no way a lush, but I can handle my liquor, plus I had eaten a lot to absorb
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: it.
[00:02:18] [SPEAKER_00]: It was all just a good vibe.
[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_00]: We all stood around stuffing our faces.
[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: We shared funny stories, and often Sean was a part of those tales.
[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_00]: You see, most of this group knew him from high school and college, so you can
[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_00]: imagine the drunken, embarrassing stories they all had.
[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_00]: His presence was very much there with us.
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_00]: The sun was starting to go down.
[00:02:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It was a gorgeous pink-orange sunset on the horizon when things began to change for
[00:02:46] [SPEAKER_00]: me.
[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Now you must understand I am not an emotional person.
[00:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't typically cry, at least in front of other people, and in my alone time
[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I may cry maybe four times a year.
[00:02:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Honestly, when I'm in need of a good purge, I put on two movies that are a surefire
[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_00]: way to release the emotions.
[00:03:03] [SPEAKER_00]: The first is What Dreams May Come, and if I'm still not empty, The Land Before Time.
[00:03:09] [SPEAKER_00]: You see, I'm an 80s baby, and it's always hit a nerve.
[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_00]: My friends will attest to this, as it's sometimes the only way that I can release
[00:03:17] [SPEAKER_00]: my emotions.
[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_00]: So, I recall standing at the table maybe four drinks deep all day, which I'll
[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_00]: remind you isn't much for me, and a friend is telling us about her job as
[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_00]: a paraeducator.
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_00]: She assists with one child in her home, and he is completely dependent on her and
[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_00]: her husband's care.
[00:03:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Our friend explained how he ended up in that condition, likely a shaken baby,
[00:03:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and that his mother was not around.
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: At this point, I begin to weep, so I walk myself out to the front porch.
[00:03:47] [SPEAKER_00]: My best friend Megan followed me outside as I sat on the stoop, and that's when
[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I begin to sob, sobbing to the point that all the liquid in my head is pouring
[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_00]: out of my nose and my mouth.
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I am drooling uncontrollably.
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I said to her, I'm sorry, and she told me it's okay, assuming that I was
[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_00]: apologizing for being emotional and probably intoxicated.
[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_00]: However, the people that have been around me while drinking could tell
[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_00]: just moments before that I was completely in control of myself, not at
[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_00]: all intoxicated.
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_00]: This was very out of character for me, but she accepted my apology.
[00:04:22] [SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm spitting, and I mean, I have so much gross stuff coming out of my
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: face that it's uncharacteristically crazy.
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I remember apologizing for spitting at her feet.
[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_00]: It was then that our friend Jason, the host, returned with his kids from
[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_00]: the park that they had walked to just around the corner in the community.
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_00]: He began to ask what was going on because now I'm blubbering and quite loud.
[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_00]: He told her that I should go inside, and they escorted me up the stairs
[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and away from the children.
[00:04:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I then started to very loudly shout, I'm sorry, don't tell the kids,
[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_00]: as they were moving me to the bedroom on the second floor, away from the party.
[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_00]: What most of us know is that sometimes alcohol can turn people emotional.
[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_00]: It happens.
[00:05:06] [SPEAKER_00]: But what some don't realize is that there are those who have a spiritual
[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_00]: belief that being under the influence of spirit, that is, of the
[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_00]: alcoholic kind, opens us up to being vulnerable to actual spiritual possession.
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_00]: The word alcohol comes from the Arabic al-kul, which means
[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_00]: body-eating spirit, and gives root origins to the English term for ghoul.
[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_00]: In Middle Eastern folklore, a ghoul is an evil demon thought to eat human
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_00]: bodies, either as stolen corpses or even as children.
[00:05:37] [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I'm upstairs and our host had taken control of the situation.
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And from this point in my story, I am going to be telling you what I was
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_00]: told because I was in and out of control of what I was saying.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It became apparent that I was not alone in my body.
[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Sean was there, and he had messages to give.
[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_00]: In between my wailing and asking for forgiveness, I had asked if I could fix
[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_00]: what had happened.
[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: To Jason, what I was telling him was that basically to my, or actually
[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Sean's, death had just happened, and he wanted to go back.
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_00]: It had been nearly two years, and Jason assured Sean that what's done is done.
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Sean then asked about two people who personally I wouldn't have ever
[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_00]: required about, his best friend Mike and our other best friend, Jason's wife, Sarah.
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_00]: She took Sean's death really badly.
[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_00]: He wanted to know if they were there.
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_00]: He asked Jason about his son, Colton, and then my best friend,
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_00]: his partner Megan, walked in.
[00:06:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever level of calm Jason had brought to me, I went from zero to 60.
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Megan's presence triggered Sean, and he let us know there is nothing.
[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Jason was aware of the change in cadence in my voice, and at times, I myself would come
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_00]: through and refer to we as if I was trying to regain control and speak for my friend
[00:06:57] [SPEAKER_00]: and myself.
[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Jason recalled that he could tell Sean would speak and when I would come back.
[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_00]: He was an angel, and he was beyond patient.
[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I remember him bringing me back by asking me to identify one smell, one thing that
[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I could see and feel, and one thing that I could taste.
[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_00]: He had cool water for me to drink, and just brought me back to control and consciousness.
[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_00]: This ordeal took well over an hour to two hours.
[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Now what you need to understand is Sean, after a really bad fight, several nights
[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_00]: of hardly any sleep, and an unknown amount of liquor, hanged himself in October of
[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_00]: 2019.
[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Sean left behind an eight-year-old son, a stepdaughter, Liana, a partner who had
[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and an unbelievable amount of friends who were like family.
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_00]: He was a boy scout, an amazing father, and friend.
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_00]: He was absolutely the type of person that would stop what he was doing to help someone.
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_00]: He would take the shirt off his back to make sure that someone else was clothed.
[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_00]: He was always great with everyone's kids.
[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_00]: His suicide came as a shock to everyone, and we did not let his kids know how he died.
[00:08:06] [SPEAKER_00]: So the following day was Sunday.
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I called Jason to learn about everything that I'm telling you now, as so much of it was
[00:08:13] [SPEAKER_00]: never part of my memory.
[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_00]: By Monday, things were very negative for me.
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I had extremely dark thoughts.
[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought about my house burning down with my children in it.
[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I was on the precipice of a great depression that I have never felt.
[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_00]: My best friend, the partner of Sean, came over that night and we-saged me.
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_00]: We are practicing green eclectic witches, so we did a ritual for him to leave me
[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_00]: and never return to my body.
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_00]: After that incident, I was so worried that drinking any alcohol would open me up,
[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_00]: so at the suggestion of my friend, I reached out to a successful professional psychic medium,
[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_00]: mostly to see what she would suggest I do to protect myself from this happening ever again.
[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I called her.
[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I did not go through social media because, even though I believe in this,
[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I do not trust many of them to not do research before the session.
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I assure you that she had no idea who I was or why I was calling.
[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_00]: She was taken aback because she had never really been asked how someone else
[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_00]: can physically protect themselves before.
[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_00]: She told me her routine and what she requires to keep spirits from attacking
[00:09:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and attaching to her when she is not working.
[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_00]: She said that she believes that I am a psychic empath.
[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Then, however, she began to get messages.
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Among those messages, she told me that there is an S name with a very strong spirit.
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_00]: She began to describe who he was in life.
[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Funny and kind.
[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_00]: She said there's a C or a K name that he brings up.
[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_00]: She said that it's a name that can either be a C or a K.
[00:09:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, his son's name is Colton, spelled with a K.
[00:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: She then told me that there's also an M and an L name.
[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_00]: His partner's name is Megan, and his stepdaughter's name is Liana.
[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I was absolutely floored.
[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_00]: To this day, Sean has not used me again for messages.
[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I had to tell him how angry I was at him for doing that,
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_00]: and if I remember, I let him know that he could not take over when I drink.
[00:10:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I also rarely drink anymore.
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I never want to go through that again.
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_00]: It was intrusive, embarrassing, traumatic,
[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_00]: and a very scary feeling to not have control over what I was saying or even doing.
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_00]: As an amateur paranormal investigator,
[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I used to say how cool something like this would be,
[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_00]: but I don't find it cool anymore having lived it.
[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_00]: And like so many other of my paranormal experiences,
[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_00]: I still struggle to believe that I went through it at all.
[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I try to rationalize or find a logical explanation, but I can't.
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so grateful for my friend Jason who took control of a situation
[00:10:43] [SPEAKER_00]: that is probably a once-in-a-lifetime thing,
[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_00]: and that not many people can say that they've experienced.
[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Our next experience of the night comes to us from Shania,
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and Shania's encounter is called...
[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Footsteps.
[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I just found your podcast and have binged from the beginning.
[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I've heard stories similar to mine, so I figured that I'd share.
[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Although it's not terrifying and baffling,
[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_00]: it still makes my skin roll each time I place myself back in that very moment.
[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Growing up, I had a best friend, and I will call her Cassidy.
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Between the ages of seven and twelve, her and I were inseparable.
[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_00]: My parents ended up buying their childhood home,
[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and they had moved to a nearby town.
[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_00]: My mom and I would always hang out at their house while Cass and I played with Barbies,
[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_00]: baby dolls, or outside in the mud.
[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Their house was an old farmhouse,
[00:11:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and when you entered the home, you were greeted with a long hallway down the center of the home,
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_00]: with a stairwell that wrapped up along the center length of the home,
[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_00]: and then steep stairs descending into the finished, albeit creepy and dark, basement.
[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_00]: This meant that the hallways were long and dark,
[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_00]: the house was old and creaky,
[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_00]: and you couldn't move an inch without being heard in the next room.
[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_00]: The house was four floors, including the attic, as well as the basement.
[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I remember that when we played,
[00:12:07] [SPEAKER_00]: you always got that eerie feeling that someone was watching you,
[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: or that you were never alone, especially in the basement.
[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_00]: In the basement bathroom, there was a room we were never allowed in,
[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and that bathroom always felt dark and heavy,
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_00]: so much so that it made your chest tight, and your heart thump.
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_00]: These were all things as a kid I remember being used to,
[00:12:27] [SPEAKER_00]: especially if you walked anywhere in the house alone.
[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_00]: You kept your head down,
[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_00]: and you moved with a purpose for fear of what you might make eye contact with.
[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Now, I remember one night I spent the night.
[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Cass and I were sleeping in her bed in the far corner away from her bedroom door.
[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I woke up in the middle of the night, wide awake.
[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_00]: It was then that I heard distinct, heavy footsteps coming toward our room.
[00:12:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I nudged Cass, and I asked her if she heard the footsteps.
[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_00]: She then sat up with me, and we sat for what felt like forever.
[00:12:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I finally was so sure that these footsteps were attached to someone
[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_00]: that I hollered out for Cass's brother, Dakota, confident that he'd answer back.
[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_00]: He did not.
[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I looked at Cass confused as to why Dakota would be ignoring us.
[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_00]: So I got out of bed, and I peered around her doorway down the dark hallway, only to see no one.
[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I peered back at Cassidy with a look of fear, knowing deep down what we heard.
[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought for sure that Dakota was playing a prank on us,
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_00]: so I walked down the hallway only to be confronted by an empty room.
[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Spooked, I quickly walked back to Cass's room,
[00:13:34] [SPEAKER_00]: and reminded her that Dakota had stayed at his friend's house.
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_00]: We then hid under the covers.
[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_00]: We never talked about this until a decade later when I ran into Cassidy's mom,
[00:13:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and I explained this story to her.
[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It was then that I learned that the entire family had unexplainable experiences in that house.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Now please stay tuned, and I'll be right back after these brief messages.
[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_00]: This next experience comes to us from Joshua,
[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and Joshua's experience is called Grandparents Old Home.
[00:14:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Hello Nick.
[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I never thought that I would tell anyone this,
[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_00]: but having been a listener for over three years,
[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I know this is a safe place to finally let go of my experience.
[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_00]: When I was around 15 years old,
[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_00]: my mom talked with her aunts and my grandma
[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_00]: about the possibility of moving into our great-grandparents' old home.
[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Since my great-grandma couldn't live by herself anymore by that point,
[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_00]: the house was somewhat abandoned.
[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_00]: However, things didn't go as planned thanks to family issues.
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Nonetheless, we still tried to give it a shot,
[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and we decided to go one day to clean it up a little
[00:15:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and show them that we could take care of the house.
[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I remember my mom being very excited about it
[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_00]: and talking about it that Friday afternoon.
[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I was still in school at the time,
[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_00]: so it was my brothers, my mom, stepdad, and myself.
[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_00]: After all the excitement, planning, and ideas,
[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_00]: we finally decided that Saturday was the time to go.
[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_00]: We arrived at the house, and it was all pretty normal.
[00:15:42] [SPEAKER_00]: As one would expect, it was a little rundown,
[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_00]: with all the overgrown weeds and such.
[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_00]: We started cleaning it on the outside,
[00:15:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and I was remembering how exciting it used to be
[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_00]: to run around the woods behind the house.
[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_00]: My mom and I then decided that it was finally time
[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_00]: to go inside and clean the house.
[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Needless to say, it was a little creepy by itself,
[00:16:01] [SPEAKER_00]: since the house didn't have much light coming in.
[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_00]: However, we started cleaning the inside.
[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_00]: When I was cleaning the last room,
[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_00]: the uneasiness became a little unbearable,
[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_00]: as I would feel constantly watched,
[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_00]: or as if someone were standing just next to me.
[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I tried to ignore it, but my mom thought that
[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_00]: it would be funny to close the house with me inside
[00:16:21] [SPEAKER_00]: to joke around about how I was being a scaredy cat.
[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_00]: When the house ended up being just a tad darker
[00:16:27] [SPEAKER_00]: than it was at the beginning,
[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_00]: it was then that I got scared and wanted to get out,
[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_00]: so I started walking out of the room.
[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And this is when I saw it.
[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_00]: It was the dark silhouette of a man
[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_00]: wearing a hat and a Gaia Berra,
[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_00]: which is a typical men's summer shirt worn back in the 1960s.
[00:16:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I was horrified, but at the same time unbothered by its presence.
[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_00]: However, being a strong believer in the supernatural,
[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I was scared of it being more than just my great grandfather's spirit.
[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I started to freak out, and my mom opened the door.
[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Seeing how scared I was, she laughed,
[00:17:01] [SPEAKER_00]: but then she got serious,
[00:17:02] [SPEAKER_00]: and she told me to get out, and I quickly closed the door.
[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought that maybe she had seen the man too,
[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_00]: but she denied ever seeing anything.
[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_00]: But I know that she saw him.
[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_00]: It's obvious to state that we never went back,
[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_00]: and with time she did tell me that it might have been our great grandpa.
[00:17:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I believed it, hoping it wasn't anything else,
[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_00]: but all I felt was a feeling of horror,
[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_00]: and the fact that I was unable to move quick enough
[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_00]: makes me think that maybe he wasn't all too happy about us moving there.
[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Now I know this wasn't much of a story,
[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_00]: but it's the closest thing to an actual experience,
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_00]: other than the constant feeling I've always had of not being alone,
[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and being watched.
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for reading, and thank you for everything that you do.
[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Kind regards, Josh.
[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_00]: This next experience comes to us from Ruth,
[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and her experience is called Mr. Smiley.
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Ruth says,
[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I've been listening to you for about a year,
[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_00]: and I wanted to send you my paranormal experience ever since.
[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: However, I could not find the right words to describe it until now.
[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Clicking the send button was difficult because I was afraid of judgment,
[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_00]: but I now have the courage to write this.
[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_00]: So thank you for making this a safe place for all who feel the same.
[00:18:22] [SPEAKER_00]: For context, I grew up in a very religious Catholic household.
[00:18:26] [SPEAKER_00]: We had Jesus candles, the Virgin Mary pictures on our living room wall,
[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_00]: and we had many rosaries.
[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_00]: My mother was super skeptical with the paranormal,
[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_00]: and she hated talking about it,
[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_00]: going as far as not letting my brother and I dress up for Halloween
[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_00]: until the ages of 9 and 12.
[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_00]: My father on the other hand wasn't fully a true believer in the paranormal,
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_00]: but he did believe in our family watching over us,
[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_00]: but not in any spirits.
[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_00]: They both though agree on one thing,
[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_00]: the devil.
[00:18:55] [SPEAKER_00]: My parents made sure our house was with good energy,
[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and a safe space for all of us.
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_00]: It was early 2010s, and I started getting into paranormal stuff.
[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_00]: However, nothing ever happened to me as a kid in my old house.
[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_00]: All the kids around my age stopped getting scared of the dark
[00:19:12] [SPEAKER_00]: and slept with the lights off.
[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_00]: However, I was always afraid of the dark.
[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_00]: My fairy lights and hallway light were always on.
[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_00]: However, my fairy lights would flicker on and off for a few seconds.
[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_00]: When I told my parents about it,
[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_00]: they would say that it's all in my imagination,
[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_00]: or that it's the electricity.
[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Was it though?
[00:19:30] [SPEAKER_00]: My 9-year old self didn't believe so.
[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_00]: You see, my hallway light was connected to the outlets in my bedroom,
[00:19:36] [SPEAKER_00]: however, my fairy lights were battery operated.
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Many times I would check my batteries to see if they needed any new ones,
[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_00]: or if one was missing.
[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes I'd wake up to knocking on my window,
[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_00]: and I'd see my curtains sway around like a child was playing with it.
[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_00]: However, my room was very hot,
[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and I had had AC in there.
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: We moved later on when I was 11,
[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and nothing happened until I started seeing things.
[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I would see someone in the corner of my eyes,
[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and almost immediately I would snap my head to that direction,
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_00]: only to see that it would be gone.
[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Again, when I would tell my parents,
[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_00]: they would dismiss me as being an attention seeker.
[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I was always the odd one out in my family.
[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_00]: My cousins would ignore me or tease me.
[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I did accept being an outcast,
[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_00]: but I hated being alone.
[00:20:22] [SPEAKER_00]: This was not a feeling that I wanted.
[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_00]: When I went to bed almost every night,
[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I would hear, say your prayers, from my parents.
[00:20:30] [SPEAKER_00]: We would usually say them every night,
[00:20:32] [SPEAKER_00]: and I'd stare at the rosary that hung over my bed.
[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_00]: On this night, I decided to watch some paranormal documentaries.
[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_00]: It was around 11 p.m., and my parents were asleep.
[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_00]: When I woke up, I tried moving my body to see the clock,
[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_00]: since that was my first thought.
[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_00]: However, my body was tight,
[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_00]: and I felt something heavily weighted on my chest and my back.
[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I recalled to myself that I had two blankets,
[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_00]: but they did not weigh a thing to me.
[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I then looked at my closet and realized that it was creaking open,
[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and long, thin, and bony white arms were crawling out.
[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_00]: One hand had five sharp long fingers and nails,
[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_00]: but the other one had two long fingers
[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_00]: and a crooked, almost twisted thumb.
[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_00]: The door then opened wider,
[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and I could see an oval-shaped monster that crept out.
[00:21:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Its eyes were bulging out of its head,
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_00]: and it had cat-like eyes.
[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Its nose was smashed into its face,
[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and it had small slits for nostrils.
[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_00]: But it was his smile that creeped me out the most.
[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_00]: The smile was on each side of its face,
[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_00]: stretching painfully and looked like its skin was stuck there.
[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Its teeth were sharp and jagged, but it had no tongue.
[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_00]: It crept forward little by little and emitted a very deep chuckle.
[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_00]: My eyes teared up, and I got very cold.
[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Its body was spiny and pale,
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and the top of its head had little strands of hair on it.
[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I remembered looking at my rosary,
[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_00]: and I began praying in my head.
[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Then is when this thing made an almost chicken-like screech,
[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_00]: but I cannot describe the noise.
[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_00]: It ripped apart its face,
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and it kept saying in a disembodied voice,
[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Stop saying that.
[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_00]: It was as if it could read my mind or the look in my eyes.
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_00]: It then came faster at me,
[00:22:19] [SPEAKER_00]: one hand clawing its stretched face apart,
[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_00]: and the other reaching out for my rosary.
[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_00]: My body then regained consciousness,
[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and I propped up on my elbows and grabbed my rosary.
[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_00]: The creature screeched and grabbed part of it and pulled,
[00:22:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and it was a short tug of war before I yelled,
[00:22:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Jesus save me!
[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I then woke up in a cold sweat before I looked at my clock.
[00:22:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It was now 7 am in the morning.
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_00]: I got out of bed and used the shower,
[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_00]: the whole time thinking about my dream.
[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_00]: After showering, I was changing,
[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_00]: and I happened to look down to see my rosary was broken,
[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and the cross of Jesus was on the floor.
[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I covered my mouth and quietly began to cry.
[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_00]: This creature was so real that there was a bruise on my back,
[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and my cross was now broken.
[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I threw away the broken cross,
[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_00]: but I kept the rosary for some reason,
[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and I asked my mom to have more.
[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_00]: She gave me three more rosaries,
[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_00]: which I hung over my bed,
[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and I slept with the cross every night.
[00:23:18] [SPEAKER_00]: However, it was still in the closet, waiting.
[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I could sense it, and I could still feel it staring.
[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_00]: However, I would pray and reassure myself that God was there with me,
[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and that he wouldn't let me be hurt by this supernatural thing
[00:23:32] [SPEAKER_00]: that hid in my closet.
[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for your time,
[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and I will probably add more stories and an experience about my niece
[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and the spirit that follows her.
[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully if others have had the same experience,
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_00]: they too will have the courage
[00:23:48] [SPEAKER_00]: to write in.
[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_00]: As I bring tonight's episode to an end,
[00:23:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to thank Megan,
[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Shania,
[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Josh,
[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_00]: and of course Ruth for coming forward with their experiences.
[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And if you'd like to share your paranormal encounter
[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_00]: or learn more about supporting the show,
[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_00]: you can find all my contact and support information in the show notes,
